I’ve been looking for BTS fics that have drug addiction/abuse as an important theme for some time now and I’m coming up a bit short. Any ship, I don’t mind, I’m not picky.
So far the only really really good ones I’ve found are House of Cards by sugamins (very popular I know) and Hiraeth by haruday on ao3.

Hi guys 👋 I wasn’t army at all until two days ago, when I chaperoned my sisters at the Baltimore D2 BTS concert. I had an absolute blast! I now want to get more into the fandom, and I know the best way for me personally is always fanfic.
My problem however, is that I have a particular method of diving into a fandom’s fic space, and this one specifically is difficult for me.
I always start with angst, drama, found family type fics, or ones that stick close to real events/canon, so I can get a good grasp on the fanon versions of the characters, and choose my favorites. Then after I feel comfortable, I branch out into the shipping side and start exploring the less popular characters etc. etc.
Tldr I have a method I like and I wanna stick to it.
Any non-shipping recs that are easy on beginners? I also don’t read A/B/O and Reader Insert/OC fics

A bit of background to understand where I’m at:
I’m planning a BTS fic set in a dystopian universe with powers. I’m adding all past BTS trainees as secondary characters, but in the story most of them die.
I had this idea many years ago but always left it as a draft, just picking it up now that I hopefully have time to write.
While doing more in depth research for these secondary characters I learned about Jung Huncheol and that he died in 2021.
I now don’t know how to go about his character and plot and am asking for advice. I don’t want to offend or handle the topic badly, what would you do in this case?
As I said I could really need some good wholesome read again 😭

for me it’s when the writer put a third party to get the main characters fall in love, like a love triangle but not exactly a love triangle.
A likes B
B likes A (but they’re enemies so they’re in denial for so long)
and C comes in. C likes A.
A knows it and leads C, but A doesn’t like C.
C knows that A is in love with B and B is too.
A does that to get out of the feeling of liking B.
B knows that C likes A and thinks that A likes C too. and then A and B distance themselves cause of that/ from the misunderstanding. then A decides to forget B by having sex with C.
that immediately threw me off. though it would have been a great fic without that part.
(just sharing what happened to me recently, not disrespecting the people who like those and the writers. you can read and write whatever you want. I just wanna know if there’s similar incidents, the whether you’ve faced something like this too.)
I typically read SKZ or Ateez, but I’ve gone in blind and dabbled in other fandoms a few times and had fun. So pls don’t feel like you’re limited on who you can suggest! Same with ships - I’m not picky, as long as it’s not poly, mmm, or mmmm etc (just not my thing).
My main asks are that they are completed works, slow burn, romance, and that they have a happy ending. Give me all the angst, plot, yearning, politics, magic, action, war, crime, hurt comfort, violence (with purpose and not mindless), jealousy/possessiveness, aged up characters, age gaps, domestic fluff - any and all that good stuff. As long as it ends happily for the main couple, it can be pretty much anything. Smut is very welcome, just not as a major part of the plot 🙏
I’m really needing some good ol’ escapism and feel like these genres are where it’s gonna be at for me 🤌🏻
The nos and hard nos for me are: major character death (between main pairing), incest, underage sex, aged down characters (I want to read about adults), subspace, gender-swap, heavy drug use, cheating, psychological horror.
(I’d prefer no omegaverse, but I’m open to it if the plot is worth it 👏)
