Let's Replace Star Fox Adventures

Star Fox Adventures... where to begin. The game is fun, but has several major flaws as a result of rushed development and some of Rare's more questionable game design choices. It is often credited with killing the Star Fox brand because it was a Zelda-clone in a rail shooter franchise. That's why I'm going to make a hypothetical Adventure Star Fox that takes the place of Adventures and released on the Switch 2 like that rumor that is probably false.

Firstly, the story. The Great Fox crashlands on Sauria after Fox accepts the mission to save the planet due to some interference. While Slippy and Peppy are busy fixing the Great Fox, we are introduced to the new on-foot gameplay of Star Fox Adventures: Dinosaur Planet. Fox gets to keep his blaster and now has unlockable weapons and an RPG system. I'll explain later. Anyways, he is exploring ThornTail Hollow when he comes across Krystal. She is able to speak Cornerian with a heavy accent. She doesn't explain much about herself other than coming to Sauria to help the locals. Fox and Krystal work together throughout the game, exploring Sauria and its satellites, natural and artificial, while fighting SharpClaws. They discover General Scales was being used after they defeat him and Drakor is the true villain. I just want the twist villain to not be Andross as he is very much still dead.

For gameplay, it's going to be an open world game (because that's what modern Nintendo does, apparently) where you explore the planet completing Krazoa challenges (think BotW shrines as well as Frontiers Cyberspace and other open world trials) to get upgrades to different aspects. However, where Star Fox will differ is that the Arwing and a new Speeder Bike vehicle will be important. The Arwing is to explore the skies and orbit around Sauria. Some of the challenges will be rail shooter levels around Sauria focusing on winning aerial battles against SharpClaw forces using biplanes (because I like the idea of the SharpClaws being given technology advanced to the locals but primitive to the Cornerians). Ground combat will be a third-person shooter for Fox and melee for Krystal. Access to new vehicles is done through progression along with getting the Great Fox airborne again.

For the RPG elements, Fox will get upgrades to his shooting abilities and unlock new guns. He could also get skills from Smash Bros such as Fox Illusion or Fire Fox. Meanwhile, Krystal would unlock new staff powers, new combos, and more psionic powers. Her psychic powers would extend past just telepathy and extend to telekinesis, pyrokinesis, and more unique abilities.

One big lore change will be that only two years passed since 64, making Fox twenty years old with several more years to do different adventures. Also, Cerinia will exist. It's still destroyed, but it's something Krystal opens up about as Fox gets closer to her. Fox could have support conversations with the cast.

The idea here is to create a new branch of Star Fox games. The Star Fox Adventures games would be Modern Star Fox where the appeal is targeted towards general audiences and Nintendo fans. Classic Star Fox will continue with SF64-style gameplay. That way, fans of only 64 get rail shooters to love that have new levels and more branching paths in a short arcade-style game while fans of GCN Star Fox and Nintendo gamers get a new sci-fi series to play with.

Found this adorable fanart of the Mccloud family. Credit goes to HeresyArt.

An artist on FurAffinity named HeresyArt drew a picture of Fox & Krystal in an alternate timeline in which they lived on Sauria and had 6 children (one of them being Marcus).

I thought this was very well done and super cute.

Here's a link to the original source: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/62113539/

EDIT:To further elaborate, this takes place in an alternate timeline in which Star Fox Adventures ends with Fox and Krystal being unable to leave Sauria and they end up stranded there for years. It was just the two of them, so because they were attracted to each other, & there's no contraceptives, they ended up having six children.

Bring Back Krystal Campaign Twitter Account

I don't think anyone has shared this here, but a while ago someone made a Bring Back Krystal account on Twitter to help raise awareness of her! You guys should check it out!

Also I have no relation to it or the creator of it, I just wanted to help spread the word.

Star Fox plotlines in a Nutshell

Andross needs no explanation. He's the main plot driver behind the Lylat Wars, which is perfectly normal. However, he pulled a Ganondorf before Ganondorf did and hijacked the plot of Adventures by being the main villain. After not being involved with the Aparoids (though is nephew was involved in Assault), he is indirectly responsible for the Anglars that invade the Lylat system in Command. Somehow, he's responsible for every plotline outside of the Aparoids.

Pigma is the reason Fox McCloud is the leader of Star Fox (by killing his father). In the remake, he fittingly gets the most dialogue from Star Fox targeted against him, all of which is deservedly full of hatred of him. After sitting out Adventures, Pigma exploits the Aparoid crisis by snatching a core memory and then setting up traps against Star Fox. He gets assimilated into the Aparoids and basically allowed Sauria and Corneria to be overrun. He then somehow returns in Command as a cube and can be fought, leading to two of the bad endings.

Finally, Krystal was the damsel in distress for Adventures, with a lot of the plot revolving around saving her. She becomes Fox's girlfriend, which the Sauria level of Assault heavily hints at. Then she is basically takes over Command's plot as the Anglars, the actual villains, take a backseat. Though the biggest thing against her is that she isn't a part of the Lylat Wars, which is basically the only story Star Fox shows anymore.

How would you feel if in the September Direct, they tease a new Star Fox game and it ends with Fox stepping out of his Arwing?

So they open by showing a space battle over a planet only for one Arwing, Fox's to descend towards the planet as a female voice is narrating. The Arwing lands on the planet and Fox steps out with his blaster. So now it's confirmed that the next game would have on-foot sections. How would you feel? Would you feel betrayed or no? What do you expect?

Star Fox "performed steadily" per the Consolidated Financial Highlights

https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2026/260806e.pdf

"Looking at Nintendo Switch 2 software, titles such as Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, released in May, and Star Fox, released in June, performed steadily, and Pokémon Pokopia, released in the previous fiscal year (see note), also sold well, with the result that Nintendo Switch 2 software sales totaled 9.46 million units."

Remember that Star Fox was only on the market five days before the cut-off for the financial report that just came out. It not hitting one million in those five days, though not ideal, is not the end of the world.
