labwc is fantasic but..

..very underhyped.

- many Linux distro do not have a "labwc desktop" option during the installation
- it needs other services to be a real Desktop, a keyring, xdg-portal,..

How do you use labwc, which other sw do you add?

I use it with: Noctalia V5, gnome-keyring, pipewire, xdg-desktop-portal-wlr

Im tired of desktop enviroments and want a wm that works like de

its not short text so if u want - go straight to help me(question) part

why and what happened?

----------------------

let me explain

i dont like what gnome does and its usecase, bcs of that im using kde or cinnamon.Cinnamon now has his libadwaita-libadapta,gtk3-gtk4, xapps, losing gtk3 customization, different design choices(buttons in windows decorations or no,round conrers or no) storm and all that is giving unpolished look, ^(i said look becouse it just works, yes if u gonna peak u wont gonna be failed in that aspect, but i want something consistant).(https://www.reddit.com/r/linuxmint/s/s1OCM4UZ7u)

KDE is indeed very feature-rich, even to the point that I don't really like it (but I can use it for sure), has bugs, like alt tab wayland stuttering which is fundamental and sireous(https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479250), and many many other bugs*(also sireous such as file manager trash empty icon not showing properly bug, desktop files selecting noт working when hovering mouse to many items and sliding)*, im not ricing it and i cant imagine what i would have if i gonna customize it.

I also looked to lightweight ones but usually they dont have that much QoL things and need many addons*(yes i have notes what is missing and how much can i modify desktop with pros and cons)*.

I looked to lxqt, they have great features and improvements, also adding them very quickly.but theres also not much of QoL things and yep, too much tinkering for having what i want(but still i cant make what i want i think).

Also cosmic, a great thing, a mix of tiling wm and de, like it but its not quite ready(no desktop icons and even in launcher not manual sorting by dragging)

Please help me(question)

---------------------------

I want a wm that lets me to use it like classic de, without crazy keybinds focuse, with title bars and its functionality

from hotkeys i basically need alt tab and super key for showing some menu and panel

so please help me find wm that will let me use it like that, and without tinkering

i know they are tiling wms that also had that functionality but i dont wonna do it from scratch and breaking something or fixing when something is broken,

but i discovered Preconfigured setups and dots for hyperland, which are basically already made setups/configs for hyperland, like DEs but without bloat and lightweight, thats so cool but i need ones with traditional usecase, keyboard mouse

so pls help me recommending some wm's or Preconfigured setups/dots that will be usable for me

How's your window managing experience with labwc?

Before moving to labwc and using it daily the past month, I used Gnome. I do still quite miss the overview and dash.

I've had to switch to an Alt+Tab workflow which I don't love. I also miss being able to quickly see all my open windows from the overview. Unfortunately, ext-workspace protocol, at least with waybar, can't differentiate between workspaces that do and do not have windows.

That makes it a bit tricky to know whether I have windows open on other workspaces. With Sway, I was able to use a different color for workspaces that have windows.
