Anyone who does crafts/crochets need some supplies?

So here’s what happening,

I’m working through one of my move in totes and realize I have some embroidery threads that I want to get rid of but I don’t want to just throw them away.

Same with my some of my yarn that I bought to crochet with. My ADHD just doesn’t allow me to finish projects through and then I have accumulated more than I need.

Wanted to just put this here to see if anyone would be interested in this offer in any way

I’m debating on asking like 5$ for a ball of yarn. So if I do decide I want to go through with this “craft clean out” I feel like 5$ isn’t an unreasonable ask.

I still haven’t fully decide if I want to do this yet, I just think I could feel better doing it knowing there’s people who could use it and would be interested.

Thanks 🤍

Lafayette: what kind of events would you actually like to see more of downtown?

Curious what people here feel like Lafayette is missing.

Live music? Comedy nights? Trivia? Karaoke? Themed dance nights? Gaming events? Craft nights? Singles events? 30+ nights? College-age events? Something completely different?

I work with Rat Pak Venue downtown, and we’re always looking at different types of events to bring in. Rather than guessing what people want, I figured I’d ask the people who actually live here.

What would make you say, “Yeah, I’d actually go to that”?

Good turnout for the flock camera protests!

I left five points as the press showed up. Good people at five points, ferry, 9th and Salem/18th. I made a couple laps in the truck to honk for support!

Recommendations for a quick moving service (just need a few boxes and a TV taken to UPS)

I have a TV and some boxes that are all packed up and ready to go, but I don't have a car or a truck to transport them to the UPS store.

Does anyone have recommendations for a local service, app, or "man with a van" business that could help with a super quick job? It would be 1 to 1.5 hours of work maximum. I'm happy to pay fairly, I'm just not entirely sure where to look for a job this small since full moving companies usually have large minimums.

Franciscan Billing Help. Do I owe this?

Health Insurance and medical bills drive me insane! I'm hoping for a sanity check.

This year I switched to a different insurance company under United Healthcare (which also owns Optum pharmacy.) I transferred my prescription from picking it up at a local CVS to having it mail order delivered by Optum because it looked like it would be cheaper. I don't know if they initiated it or I clicked to agree to have Optum contact my nurse provider to have my prescription renewed. Now I have a bill from Franciscan for a $25 co-pay. When I look in Franciscan's my-chart for the date, there's an "After visit summary" coding for the refill with Optum. Do I legitimately owe this?

My birthday is coming up and I want to have a day set up of fun things to do. What are some neat places with things to do in town. Like painting, candle making, anything crafty or fun for reasonable prices. Am mainly looking at solo activities.

ISO previous ENT? can't remember name

I am trying to remember the name of an ENT I went to almost 8 years ago (2018). It was somewhere in DT Lafayette and not in the best part of town. one thing I remember is taking an elevator down to the office from the ground floor. I also had a hearing test done there in one of those booths. I believe it was an older man who was the doctor but I can't remember.

ive switched insurance so many times and google maps is failing me that I can't remember where it was. I thought it was maybe on Greenbush St but the maps view doesn't look accurate. I need the name for medical records to get a PA for a reoccurring issue since 2018. :(

Looking for a home-cooked Indian tiffin service in West Lafayette

Hi everyone! I'm looking for a regular Indian home-cooked/tiffin service in West Lafayette (47906).

I'm specifically looking for something more like home-cooked food rather than restaurant food, delivered regularly (daily would be ideal, but even a few times per week would help).

I've already checked the usual restaurants and a few tiffin services around the area, but haven't found anything that delivers to West Lafayette.

If you:
- know someone locally who makes and delivers
Indian tiffins,
- currently use a home-cooked meal service,
- know of an Indian home cook who takes regular orders, or
- have heard of a WhatsApp/Facebook/community group where these services are advertised,

please let me know! Even an old lead would be useful if you know whether they're still operating.

Thanks!

Stop Flock Information Session

There will be an ALPR information session at the Tippecanoe Public Library Holman Branch, 627 South Street, at noon on Saturday, August the 22nd.

If you see protestors on Tuesday and want to know why they are holding signs by what look like mundane traffic cameras, this in-person meeting will elaborate on some of the many concerns citizens have with this mass surveillance technology.

Beware of the Crossing School!

I recently had the opportunity to spend a day at the Crossing and boy howdy, I wish I didn't. There was no structure and no clear program. They are renting two rooms in the local community center. The "classroom" is an empty room with flimsy pop-up tables and Chromebooks. The students are placed facing the wall. The floors are stained and disgusting. There was no direct instruction, just students facing a wall on their computers. In an age where we have seen the problems with computer only delivery (looking at you COVID). The school receives our tax money for no real schooling and there is constant pressure with religious messaging. The staff is overwhelmingly unqualified. Not an actual teaching license between the whole group.

So if you want your kids to look at a screen all day and listen to Christian propaganda, then this is the school for you. I would avoid it like the plague. Don't fall for their promises. Public service announcement finished.

Flooding question for someone who doesn't live in the city

Could anyone be so kind and tell me if there is any major flooding over by the Del Real Auto Sales?

They have a vehicle I'm interested in buying but I live over an hour away and don't want to deal with it if they have vehicles that are being flooded right now. It's close to the Franciscan Health hospital if some don't know where exactly it's at.

Tuesday August 18th 5-6pm at your nearest Flock camera location. You can find one conveniently close to you via DeFlock.org.

Bring signs, do not vandalize the cameras, just show up and exercise your first amendment right to advocate for your privacy.

Each tagging the location, plate, car info, saved and searchable in a database by any user with access.
