Lafayette BMV driving test route and strictness

Does anyone know the usual Lafayette Indiana BMV driving test route? I want to get familiar with the area and avoid surprises.

I drove around Greenbush and Underwood and noticed some roads don’t have posted speed limit signs, but Google Maps shows limits. Is it okay to follow those unless a sign says otherwise?

Also, I’ve heard Lafayette examiners are strict. Any tips on what to be extra careful about?

Why do almost all Speedways in Lafayette suck so bad?

The one on Teal, and the one on Sagamore Parkway are the worst! The fountain machines are always broken!

School speed limit during driving test

During a driving test, should I follow a posted school speed limit only during the times shown on the sign, or should I slow down even outside those hours to be safe? I don’t want to fail for speeding or driving too slowly.

MISSING! African Grey Parrot (WL)

Update (5/21 4pm): T-bird flew out of our sight this morning, after spending the night in a tree near our house. We think he is probably still nearby N.Chauncey, Vine St, Salisbury, etc., as he doesn't seem to go far when tree hopping, and seems to stay in each tree for many hours each time he moves. If anyone hears extra loud chirps (like smoke alarm sounds) or chattering in the area, please comment! Thank you all so much. Everyone has been so wonderful and helpful and kind. It's been about 50hrs total, and some parrots can stay out for several days before being located, so we are not losing hope yet!!

Missing! African Grey parrot - light gray, red tail feathers. His name is "T-Bird". He will likely be hiding in a tree, probably close to the trunk for protection. You may hear him mimicking or chattering even if you don't see him. He loves blueberries and will usually come if offered a blueberry. He flew off from N. Chauncey Ave toward Vine St. in West Lafayette around 3pm on Tuesday (5/19). We think he is likely near campus, Hills & Dales, WL high school, etc. If you hear or spot him, please DM or comment. We would be eternally grateful. Thank you so much!

New Location for May 24th @ 1:00PM Lafayette Redditors Meetup (21+)

I originally scheduled a meetup at Magoo's, turns out they will be closed because it's Memorial Day weekend. We'll instead meetup at People's Brewing Company 2006 N 9th St in Lafayette, IN at 1:00PM (same time).

Please comment if you plan on coming or at the very least are interested in coming and don't know if you can make it.

And I know it isn't an ideal time but this won't be the only one. It won't necessarily be a bad thing for the turn out to be small as this first meeting might be handy to workshop ideas on what a regular meetup would look like, what the name should be, etc. so having even just 2-3 people to chat with will be beneficial.

Looking to recycle/donate furniture and electronics for free

EDIT: I have figured out my furniture problems and have decided that my current best option is taking my electronics to a local rage room because there are no cheap, local recycling options I can use BEFORE I move out on the 26th.

My lease ends on the 26th, and I have a few things I was looking to donate/recycle instead of just throwing them away.

I have a PC monitor that doesn't turn on, a wired mouse that doesn't work, and an old microwave. Those are the only electronics I'm looking to donate/recycle, but Best Buy and Staples want to charge me $30 to take my monitor. I'd rather just throw it away at that point (yes, I know this is technically prohibited).

As for furniture, I have a two-seat reclining couch that's in good condition. Not interested in bringing it with me anywhere. I was going to dump it, but i figured I would either try to sell it on Marketplace or donate it. I also have a broken desk and torn-up rocking chair, but I figure I'll have to throw those away.

Trump-backed candidate seeks recount in Indiana Senate race with 3-vote margin • Indiana Capital Chronicle

“participation in the Republican primary by individuals not qualified to vote in the Republican primary violated state law and undermined the will of Hoosier Republicans.”

Is this a law? It is my understanding that the primary is open to voting for whoever you want. There is no independent ballad

Anyone want to trade a pc for my Lego Millennium falcon and maybe cash? Set 75192

I’m just trying to get a mid to high end pc. The falcon is already built but it comes with all the pieces, the manual, and the boxes. If you have something worth more than the falcon then I’m willing to trade with cash and falcon.

Are there any good apartments in this town for under 1k?

I’ve been trying so hard to find a good apartment that is under 1k. My standards are low but holy shit some of these places manage to fall below them. The best apartment that I’ve found so far is one that is currently under renovation, so it looks like a construction site. Like I thought I went to the wrong place for the tour because of how unfinished it looks. And it was 1049 a month.

What the hell is wrong with the Taco Bell in West Lafayette. It’s AWFUL. Everything takes so long, the employees are so slow, and the food is never right. Idk, I need to know if it’s just me?

Best places to rent ?

I’m okay with an apartment, but i’d prefer to rent out a house since I have a dog. Any places that anyone recommends? Anyone to stay away from? My budget is around $1700 a month for rent. Thank you in advance!

WL traffic strips

Rubber pneumatic strips (sets of 2) have been placed at least along Salisbury Street in West Lafayette. There is a set on N Grant Street near the Salisbury intersection traffic light. I read these are for gauging traffic use of the roads in addition to speeds.

Other than Robinson Street where drivers/bicyclists regularly roll through/don’t stop at all at the 4 way signed intersection (no light)—what are these useful for? Gauging speeds so close to intersections with lights naturally will reflect slower speeds as drivers are slowing to stop or turn. N Grant Street has few if any drivers doing the posted speed limit. Strips at the crest (at Forest Hill Drive) would tell the tale—but no strips placed(?).

(Incidentally, nearly got rear-ended by a WLPD vehicle the other day as he sped over the hill (then stayed way too close to my vehicle). It seemed apparent he was not on a call. We need patrols to patrol the supposed patrollers.)

Is there an apartment for sale that someone has recently died in.

I’ve been apartment hunting and most of the places are shit. If you want something good it’s gonna be expensive as hell. The best place I found is an apartment whose entire place is under renovation except for a few units. So is there an apartment that is going for cheap because no one wants to live in it because something horrrible happened in it.

Does anyone else have issues with water filling up and taking days to drain at bayou oaks apartments?

I’ve lived at bayou oaks for about 5 years now and this has always been an issue but now it’s to a point where I have to wait every few days to shower or wash my hands because the sink and tub fill with water and it just sits, sometimes the tub drains over night but sometimes it’ll take a couple days to drain out, and for the sink it never drains anymore I have to fill a cup up of the water and pour it into my tub and there’s this black substance that ends up in it as well. There’s always plumbing issues and it seems to never actually get fixed.

Sign my petition to overturn the Indiana Cellphone Ban bill

https://www.change.org/overturnindianacellphoneban

Indiana's governer, Mike Braun, has signed a bill that would ban cellphones from being in school, but also require students to put them in an inaccesable location for the entire school day.

This poses a danger due to the increased amount of school shootings, and would make it harder to call authorities or student's guardians in case of an emergency.

To add onto it, the bill protects teachers from any sort of legal liability if they physically grab your phone from you, allows administrators to search you if they have suspicion that you have a phone on you (which is unconstitutional, violating our Fourth Amendment right to search and seizure), and allow for students to be expelled if they get caught with their phone on them five times.

This is far too extreme, poses a safety risk, supresses our rights, and allows for educators to basically ruin a students record via expulsion over a phone.

If we reach enough signatures, we have the potential to overturn this. Students, think about your future if this law is enacted, and parents need to think about the consequences this could have on their children.
