Greater Lafayette restaurants that can accommodate a peanut allergy?

Our little one has a peanut allergy, so we are looking for recs on places around that are either peanut free or really great about making accommodations.

Here are ones we know of:
- Know Eatery
- Sakanaya Izakaya (the one off campus) is a peanut free kitchen and always asks about allergies when taking orders.
- Halas Grill is peanut free
- Teays River has peanuts in the kitchen but can accommodate

What are some other places we can add to our list?

Fireworks - WTF??

Can anyone explain why in the hell they decided to do the fireworks at 9:15 instead of 10? Everyone came at 10 and was pissed that they had to leave. What a shitty way to end the day.

Missing dog southlea neighborhood

Please help me find our puppy Ein short for Einstein. He’s a one year old corgi, rat terrier mix who’s the sweetest guy but hates fireworks and jumped our fence when he heard a big boom today around 11 am. We live in southlea neighborhood closer to 18th.

Art crafts people

Hi, I have these left over mini Lego pieces (not Lego brand) and gem/diamond art pieces. If anyone has any use for them, I’ll give it for free. Seems wasteful to throw it away. Also I bought a soursop flavored aqua Fresca powder which I don’t like - free for grabs.

Dear Men in Pickups

I desperately need y'all to learn to drive like you actually have a damn brain. In the past two weeks, I've had FIVE close calls all with men driving pickups.

Y'all out here running red lights, turning in front of oncoming traffic, not paying attention to cars in the right lane when merging, taking up the entire road on the backroads, and flying around parking lot corners going the wrong way. Y'all are already driving vehicles that are too damn big, so the least you could do is learn how to drive like a normal person.

If y'all don't kill someone by hitting them, you're definitely going to kill someone by giving them a heart attack with your bullshit driving.

If you can't handle driving a pickup then get a Focus or something. Goddamn.

Urgent!: Call or email our senators! Tell them to vote no H.R. 7757: KIDS Act. The bill is a Trojan horse for internet censorship

THIS is what all the fuss is about?

Why are people so upset about this? A privately-funded outdoor art piece at a busy intersection downtown? Really?

Explain it to me like I'm stupid...

Julie Ginn and Distinctive Rental Properties failed a HUD inspection 5 times in a row… on the same house.

Do not. I repeat. Do not. Rent from Distinctive Rental Properties. Want to have some fun but also get sad, read the Google reviews but sort to the lowest ones. As a current renter of 3+ years bc it’s all I can afford, I see myself in every one of the reviews. Maintenance is not done, the owner is combative, rude, and gaslighter. I’ve heard of tenants not having their water repaired for weeks, evictions bc they asked for too much maintenance, and AC units not being repaired for months the in the summer heat. I could go on and on and on but please, do not rent from Distinctive Rental Properties.

If you have a story about this company, please put it below. I’d love to trauma bond together.

Moving to Lafayette

Hello, everyone! I received a job offer in the Lafayette area and will be moving there once I finish up the background check process with my new employer. I will be coming from out of state with my girlfriend and we have been trying to learn more about the area. I figured why not reach out to the people who live there and see what you all have to say! I have seen a few posts regarding this type of question and situation addressed before, but they were a few years old and I'm sure the area has changed in the last 5 years.

-What are some of the reasons you enjoy living in Lafayette/WL?
-What are some things that could be better, or the bad things about the area?
-Where are good areas to live in for renting? We would like a house or duplex as we will have to have a garage for my company vehicle, but apartments with garages would also work.
-What is the cost of living like? (Specifically grocery and gas prices)
-Are there any evening/weekend type attractions or activities like a comedy club, go karting, axe throwing, etc.
-what's the crime rate to other cities of comparable size?
-Any other information you feel we would need to know or would like us to know!

To be more a little more specific, we are both in our late 20s coming from a state in the Midwest and enjoy being outdoors.

Thank you to all potential replies! We have read a lot of good things online but would like to hear more perspectives from the locals!

Anyone else tired of the loud cars?

Twice this year have I had a vehicle produce a sound loud enough to muffle my hearing and cause pain for multiple days at a time. Hearing loss is not a joke.

Also I just get tired of hearing something rumbling every 5 minutes whenever I want to enjoy the quiet, even at night.

So what I am asking is, is anyone else also unhappy with this? I am asking not only for the reasons above but because I have seen comments and posts both in the past and more recently with people voicing grievences about this problem as well.

I am considering my options and I could do a lot more to protect the hearing and peace of myself and anyone else better if I had some support. I am not too familiar with leading causes or the government but maybe even going as far as meeting up for the city council and voicing concerns.

42F Seeking daytime hangout women friends for July (any age)

Hey Lafayette, I’m here just for July (visiting from Austin, TX) but that doesn’t mean we can’t have amazing adventures together! I am especially looking to meet women (any age—I have friends of all backgrounds and ages)—who are available to hang out occasionally on week days some time between 8 am - 7 pm.

I’m located on the East side just off Creasy Lane.

I’m 42, a woman, Black, married, and AuDHD (autistic + ADHD). I’m not working in July, but I am an education entrepreneur and writer. I enjoy walking my dog, hanging out with dog owners while our dogs run and play, browsing bookstores, book clubs, coffee shops, board games, crafting, deep talks, chilling in nature, tarot cards, reading long Reddit threads, making beautiful salads and tasty smoothies, dining out, movies, tv, getting my steps in, tinkering with and reviewing early stage independently developed software as a UI/UX tester, and learning how to twerk (very beginner level).

Books I am enjoying or have recently enjoyed: What My Bones Know, Bunny, Yesteryear, Sorrow and Bliss, Discontent, Luster, Queenie

Tv/Movies I am enjoying or have recently enjoyed: Love Island, Real Housewives, Project Hail Mary, Send Help, Your Friends & Neighbors, all the movies and shows set in the Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones, and Dune universes.

I’m not a big drinker, not religious, and I am politically progressive/liberal.

Let’s connect and enjoy Lafayette together!

Found Cat

We live in West Lafayette, way past Klondike out in the woods. This cat came up to our door today. Doesn’t look malnourished, but was very hungry and tired. He’s sleeping now in our garage. We took it to the vet - no chip. Please reach out if this cat belongs to you.

If we don’t find the owner, we will take it back to the vet soon to deworm, vaccinate, and check for FIV/FeLV.
