SAY NO TO PBSO ABUSES! NO CONTRACT UNTIL DEMANDS ARE MET!

We at The Lake Worthian stand strongly against increasing the budget of an agency that is actively involved in implementing an ethnic cleansing campaign against immigrant communities, while also violating the rights of poor people in our parks, many of whom are experiencing homelessness.

As well as their use of Flock cameras to do warrantless mass surveillance.

Come join us and speak out. Tell the LWB City Commission that we do not support expanding the police-state.

Short Story Club

Hi, all!

I am starting a group called Short Story Club, for people who enjoy writing and sharing their writing with others. This is not a formal critique group--it's just a casual way to creatively have fun and meet other people, hear others' stories, etc. Think Book Club meets The Moth.

The club will meet once a month in a public place. We'll have a prompt each month and everyone will interpret the prompt however they wish--part of the fun is seeing how are our minds lead us in wildly different directions.

I recently moved to the area from NYC and am looking to find new friends who share my interests. I currently work in commercial trade publishing (Ie., Penguin Random House, Simon&Schuster, etc) and up north I led a book club for almost a decade before I moved here. I also feel inspired to start the club to encourage and promote original, human-generated writing in an age where AI is increasingly being used.

If you are interested in joining, please PM me for more details. Thanks!

Workers Behind Subculture Are Organizing for a Union as Man Ray Comes to El-Dub

Workers across Subculture Group are organizing for a union as Rodney Mayo prepares to open Man Ray in downtown El-Dub.

Mayo has spent nearly 40 years building not just businesses, but a reputation as one of South Florida’s champions of independent culture.

Customers see the music, the art, the coffee, the nightlife, and the success. But when workers across that same business network feel undervalued enough to organize, it raises a harder question: what has life been like behind the counter all these years?

Library

Have you been to the rather new library west in Boynton in the Canyon plaza? (Posting here bc my post was removed from the Boynton beach community for some reasons 🤷‍♀️) It was my first time yesterday and I was really impressed. It’s beautiful. There are private rooms where you can work, I don’t know if you can book or it’s first in first served. Anyway I loved it, I could stay hours there. It’s like a rare spot of peace and serenity.
