Post LASIK thoughts

Hello all!! Today is my 5th day post LASIK surgery. I had used glasses for around 19 years with myopia -5.0 & -4.75 with -1.5 & 1.75 astigmatism.

I was very excited but also nervous to do it, the doctor said due to my eyes form and amount of diopters I needed a thinner flap in order to have a better result. The day arrived and the surgery was no painful but as I'm dumb I watched videos before and in that moment I was panicking but in the end I think the procedure itself was pretty good.

I had my post check with the doctor 24h after he said the eye and the flap looked really good and he measured my vision (Apparently I have a residual diopters of -0.25 & -0.5) which he said it was a success. I've been using my tear drops and antibiotic/antiinflamatory drops as prescribed and the most important thing the doctor mentioned was it was prohibited, of course, to rub my eyes. In his words, don't touch your eyes neither even near the eyes, which I did it that way.

Surprice to me was that at the 3rd day post, my eyes were a cumulative of tears, meds, sleeps, etc. (I said I was dumb and following literally not touching near the eye). This day terrible, every 60 mins my eyes were burning, thing was if I put the tear drops in 2 mins the pain was gone but 1 hour later same. I decided to call the doctor and he told me to very carefully clean the eyes with a gauze with drinking water. This helped a lot to than repetitive pain. One thing I really cannot until now do is clean the eyelashes, as I'm cleaning very very carefully I haven't been able to clean the completely, they're like all together with the mix of that crap I mentioned. If you have any recommendation it will be highly appreciated!!

Today in terms of pain I feel much better but there is one thing that is getting me a bit sad or idk. In close range vision I really can say I see fantastic, very clear and really cannot tell the difference from when I was wearing glasses. However, mid to long range in this 5 days I've never seen really on good, every time I see something from a distance I have the constant feeling of "I need my glasses", with glasses I was able to read that, blah blah.

I don't know if it's too early, doctor and a lot of recommendations says the vision my fluctuate and even take months to have a good sharp vision. I wanted to ask for your opinion, if I'm overthinking and should be more patient o how was your experience.

Thanks!

FEMTO-LASIK AFTER 5 YEARS.

Hello everyone,

It’s been about 5 years since I had Femto-LASIK surgery. Before the surgery, I had around -3.75 and -3.25 myopia, along with -1.50 and -2.50 astigmatism.

Recently, I’ve started having vision issues again. I feel like I need glasses when driving because I can’t clearly read license plates or street signs. My eyes also feel tired almost all the time, and sometimes my vision gets noticeably worse after spending several hours on the computer.

Has anyone here had a LASIK enhancement/revision after Femto-LASIK? If so, how was your experience?

I’d also really appreciate recommendations for a good clinic or doctor on the West Coast of the U.S., along with approximate pricing for a LASIK enhancement.

Thanks!

I got my femto-lasik 2 days ago for my astigmatism and now I am nearsighted

I had 6-4 astigmatism and am 33 YO. Now I don’t have astigmatism but I can only see few metres away.

I had my first follow-up yesterday and couldn’t read the letters my doctor showed me. He checked everything about the surgery and my eyes and said “Everything seems normal but you should have read the letters. This is unusual. Let’s see you in two days.” I was too scared to ask anything after hearing “unusual”. I just said “Okay thanks” and left the hospital quickly.

We discussed beforehand that my retina was likely eligible for a touch-up surgery because the machine might not have completely corrected my astigmatism during the first surgery. However, I didn’t expect myopia. I have another follow-up tomorrow and I still can’t see the small letters from a short distance.

Have you encountered anything similar? Will it resolve itself or did you need a touch-up?

Thinking about LASIK (−2.00 / −1.75) … worth it if I want to be a pilot?

Hello everyone!
I’m thinking about getting LASIK when I’m around 19–20, maybe in Bangkok.
My vision isn’t that bad ( around −2.00 (right) / −1.75(left) ), but I’m aiming to become a pilot so I’m a bit concerned about vision requirements.

I got my first glasses in 2024 at around −1.50 / −1.75. Now I’m at about −2.00 / −1.75, so it’s been relatively stable with only a small change.

I’ve seen really mixed opinions, some people say LASIK is totally worth it, while others warn about dry eyes, night vision issues, and long-term risks.

For those who’ve done LASIK, was it actually worth it? And for anyone in aviation, does having LASIK affect your chances of becoming a pilot?

Just trying to figure out if it’s a smart move or not…
