Legally Blonde: From Masterpiece to Mess

Hi! i recently made a video about Legally Blonde and the new Elle series and why i think despite having 2 movies and 1 TV show that the franchise in my opinion has just never been able to replicate the quality success of the original movie. I hope you enjoy and comment what you think!

I enjoyed Elle much more when I started seeing it as its own project rather than as a prequel to Legally Blonde.

So the title says it all. Legally Blonde is one of my favorite movies of all time, and because of that I had a hard time with the first episode.
I just couldn't really see this version of Elle as the young Elle from the movie. I also found it impossible to ship young Elle with anyone because I kept thinking, "No, that's not her endgame she belongs with Emmett."
Another thing that bothered me was the character development. It felt weird watching young Elle go through certain lessons when adult Elle seems to have to learn a lot of those same things again in Legally Blonde. It just didn't completely make sense to me.
Once I stopped looking at it as a direct prequel and started treating it as its own project, I actually ended up enjoying it a lot. I love lexie and I thought Lexie gave a great performance, and I really loved the fun '90s vibe.
So I'm curious what everyone else thinks. Did you enjoy it while fully seeing her as young Elle, or did it work better for you once you treated it as its own separate project?
