Good start to get Mizutani sound?

Looking to get some really loud, textured noises out of my guitar. I have a J Mascis Jazzmaster, and aside from that a budget of about 1000. Any recommendations for what I should be getting pedals, preamp, and amp wise? Any information would be awesome. Thanks guys.

Why do both versions of The Last One on The OZ Tapes sound so different to every other version?

To me, they sound like “踏みつぶされた優しさ” from Volcanic Performance, not The Last One. Is one of them misnamed or something?
