I know this is just about the most generic thing like ever but I wanted to try, I'm running a Cachyos install with hyprland caelestia shell, but it just shows a grey screen with text at the bottom, I can open a console and through it open apps like Firefox but closing the console also closes the app, any help appreciated
I'm planning on getting a thinkpad T420 soon. I was considering having a main daily distro like mint on it or dual boot it with windows 7/10 and a Linux distro. As this won't really be used daily and it's more just for the cool factor I thought maybe I should also use a 256gb usb 3.0 to run a live distro like Tails OS or something as it will literally only be used because it feels cool not as a daily. I am asking: Is this USB stick acctually USB 3.0; As on the packaging it says it is but it has a blue usb? Is the performance good? What distros are good for running off of a live distro?
I recently started using Linux (Debian 13, KDE plasma) and came across some videos of peoples customizing their desktops on tiktok and youtube.
I read on some forum that Niri would be a good way for me to get to the desktop I have in mind. I have allot of experience in py, cs, c, js, java, html + css so I think my coding ground is good, but I am stuck on where to start and what to use.

I had a pop up notice warning me I need App Indicator support for Dropbox.
I noticed in total that 2 icons (including Dropbox) had disappeared from the tray.
The option when you click "Learn More" is to install "Appindicator and KStatusNotifieritem Support" extension. This is a 2 in 1 extension.
Is there an extension I have accidentally removed that is pre-installed during OS installation.
My system is Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS.

I’ve been working on a small Plasma 6 project called Global Menu KDE.

The idea is simple: I like KDE’s native Global Menu widget and didn’t want to replace it with a custom macOS-style panel. I only wanted to add the part that feels missing when the desktop itself is active.
When there is no application exporting a global menu, the widget shows:
