youtu.beNew Orleans Klezmer All Stars — Mr. 9 O’Clock [neoklezmer] (1999)
https://www.klezmerallstars.com/bio:
“The New Orleans Klezmer All-Stars have been an active performing ensemble since 1991. In these times when folk music has meant rigidly sticking to a cliched format or collecting hackneyed stylistic features, the klezmer all stars have attempted to challenge and stretch boundaries...but without sacrificing the most exciting features of social music; driving rhythms, passion, and clear melodies that are sublime but remain memorable.
Using the inspiration of the city where they began, the band has formed a unique approach to traditional melodies and, even more unusual, a way of writing in the style that leads to a sort of Yiddish Impressionism– keeping audiences dancing but cutting to the depths of their cultural imaginations, even where they didn't realize they had one.”

Cake Like - Superstore [Alt Rock/Riot Grrl] (1999)
With Deputy Weigel from Reno 911 on lead vocals. All their albums are amazing, one of the most underrated bands ever IMO.
Mimi and Richard Fariña - The Falcon [Folk] (1965)
If you’re looking to dive into the folk revival of the 1960s, I’d highly recommend giving “The Falconer” by Mimi and Richard Fariña a listen. It’s the kind of song that quietly pulls you in with intricate fingerpicked guitar, vivid storytelling, and a melody that lingers long after it’s over. Nothing about it feels forced—it simply unfolds at its own pace and invites you along for the ride.
Part of what makes the song so memorable is the chemistry between Richard and Mimi. Their voices blend so naturally that it feels less like two people taking turns singing and more like a single conversation set to music. Richard Fariña’s career was tragically cut short, but the small body of work he left behind continues to inspire generations of folk musicians. If you’re a fan of thoughtful songwriting and beautifully understated performances, this is one hidden gem that’s absolutely worth your time.
Melvin, JAN -- JeJe [R&B / Pop / Afrobeats] (2026)
TL;DR: All the way from Lagos, Nigeria. Up and coming artist Melvin, with just an earpiece, iPhone and BandLab, drops his new single titled "JeJe". Show some love
Came across this guy’s post randomly on X and really think he deserves some love. His name is Melvin from Lagos, Nigeria. He made this banger titled "JeJe" using BandLab, an iPhone, and an earpiece. I was blown away because if someone would've just played this for me and said, "Have you heard that new Nigerian artist that's blowing up right now?" I would've undoubtedly believed they deserved all the success they're having. But to my surprise, he’s just a small artist—I think this is just his second song ever released, with the first one being in 2023 (on Spotify, at least)—and has only 90 views on the YouTube video. Look, I had aspirations of being an artist a decade ago so I know how it is; something just told me to make this post. I hope this kid’s dreams come true, and he stays true through the process. I genuinely think Nigeria has another star here folks.
Honestly, I struggled trying to put a single label on this style of music because it fuses so many elements so well. R&B, pop, dance hall and more. It truly is one glorious melting pot. Coining a definitive term to encapsulate this entire vibe is nearly impossible. How about, for now, we just call it Good Music?
