Dreaming of Dinos

I had an afternoon to goof off with a rough mockup of a Lizardmen Battle March box. I started playing in late 5th ed, stopped toward the end of 6th, and Battle March has me thinking of bringing out the old minis (to at least hobby, if not play). Pics are from image search, not my minis.

Using the recent Renegade list I've made a roughly 500pt box with:
• Scar-Vet on Cold One
• Skink Priest
• 10 Saurus
• 20 Skinks
• 3 Terradons

I tried to make a fun, playable set that captures the retro spirit of the army. How did I do?

Just finished an old 5th ed. set of these little fellas to use as Skink Cohorts with the new Renegade draft. (Sorry for the bad quality photo)

5th ed. Skinks (with a couple of additional models to spice it up a bit)

5th edition Slann

Finished off my 5th edition Slann, which is a combination of original metal parts and some 3d printed bits that I was missing original parts for. It all came together well.

Thoughts on using a solo Slann?

I've got a 3vs3 battle coming up next weekend.

Me (Lizardmen) + Chaos + Cathay vs High Elves + Vampire Counts + Orcs. 9000 vs 9000 points.

What do you think on the pros or cons of using a solo Slann without any accompanying Temple Guard? My logic being that I would make him ethereal to protect him better, plus he'd be able to fly around better solo and deal out damage, and retreat quicker if needed. Also I'd be using the new Renegade rules so he's essentially a level 5 wizard and could dispel a lot of any magic thrown at him.

Has anyone tried a solo Slann before, is it a recommended tactic at all?
