Flock Out - City Council mtg Tuesday 8/18

If you are concerned about the use of ALPR cameras in town, please go to the city council meeting this Tuesday, Aug. 18, at 6:30pm. We need lots of people to get up and speak, and demand that the city open this issue up for discussion.

When these cameras were put up back in 2023, they were voted on as a "consent" item at council- they weren't debated or discussed - it was just a yes or no vote!!

We must demand that council add this to a future meeting as an AGENDA item so that the community gets a chance to weigh in.

California SB34 (effective Jan 1, 2016) has specific requirements for transparency when a municipality uses ALPR cameras. One of those requirements is a "conspicuously posted" link on the municipality's website that links directly to the data usage and privacy policy that is in place. Lompoc's cameras went up in early 2023 (?!), but Lompoc JUST put their web link up a WEEK ago. The city was in violation of SB34 for over 3 years. Not a big builder of confidence and trust. 😒

Summary of SB34 requirements from AG Bonta:

Meeting info:

6:30pm in the City Council Chamber at 100 Civic Center Plaza, Lompoc CA. All members of the public are invited to attend City Council meetings.

You may submit comments via email to s_haddon@ci.lompoc.ca.us

not later than 4:00pm on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.

Moving to Lompoc

I will be relocating from Australia to Lompoc, and trying to look for an apartment or house to rent. Everywhere I’ve enquired required 3 x earnings to rent. Being that I’m going to be newly arrived in the US I can’t show that. does anyone know of any places or management companies that don’t require that. Happy to even pay months upfront.

🚨 AUGUST 15. WE NEED YOU THERE. 🚨

🚨 AUGUST 15. WE NEED YOU THERE. 🚨

The 805 Patriots are coming through the Santa Ynez Valley.

So are we.

They’re bringing flags and a message of hate.

We’re bringing people.

People who refuse to let our immigrant neighbors be intimidated.
People who refuse to let fascists turn our communities into their playground.
People who are done watching from the sidelines.

📍 SATURDAY, AUGUST 15
⏰ MEET AT 12:30 PM
📌 Albertsons | 222 E. Hwy 246, Buellton

We’ll spread out along the route and make our presence known.

You do NOT need to be an organizer.
You do NOT need experience.
You just need to show up.

Bring:
✊ Your people
📢 Your signs
🦺 A safety vest if you have one
📱 Your phone
🔥 Your willingness to stand up

And listen: this is not about getting into fights.

We are not giving them the confrontation they want.

We’re going to be loud.
We’re going to be visible.
We’re going to be disciplined.
And we’re going to stand together.

At 4:30 PM, we regroup at Solvang Park.

If you’ve been wondering what you can actually DO right now, this is it.

Don’t just post about it.

SHOW UP.

Bring a friend. Bring five.

Because when hate rolls through our communities, we roll up too.

THE 805 IS OURS.
IMMIGRANT FAMILIES ARE OUR NEIGHBORS.
WE STAND TOGETHER.

Cops proceed to ignore me after asking about Flock "ALPRs"

So this crazy a** woman rammed into 2 cars that were parked outside my house and once the people came out to confront her, she called the dudes girlfriend a prostitute so they ended up calling the cops. Once the police showed up I was being nosy, watching to see what they were going to do while they were trying to figure out and track down her license plate. The officer then shined his flashlight into my window and I politely asked him why they were not able to use any of the many Flock cameras around the city to track this particular women's license plate. The officer then responded to me with "Because the car would have to pass one."

I almost lost it, There are THREE Flock cameras on our block, and two of them were actually staring right at the scene. I then replied to him saying "There is one staring directly at you" (yes there was one right behind him) and then he just completely ignored me and blew me off 🤣

It is fkn insane they will spend millions throwing up automated surveillance on every single corner to track our every move, but the absolute second you really want them to be used to solve an actual crime and help regular people, it's like talking to a brick wall. The surveillance state is completely active and running 24/7, but it's apparently only there when it's convenient for them. Blatant corruption in our faces

Measles confirmed in Santa Barbara county (consider getting vaccinated already)

County Health Department Confirms Measles Case
The County of Santa Barbara Health Department (County Health) has a confirmed positive case of measles related to recent international travel of a county resident. Anyone who is unvaccinated or has not completed the two-dose MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccine series.
Infants younger than 12 months, who are too young to be routinely
Pregnant individuals who are not immune to
People with weakened immune systems, regardless of vaccination
Measles Symptoms
A person with measles is contagious from 4 days before the rash appears and 4 days after it disappears.
Symptoms typically appear 7 to 14 days (up to 21 days) after exposure and include:
Initially cough, runny nose, and red/watery eyes (conjunctivitis)
Rash typically appears 3-5 days after the first symptoms, starting on face, hairline and neck, spreading down to trunk, arms and legs
