Applied for a new SSN at SSA Timberlake its been 5 weeks now and didn't receive it. Tried to call them, waiting for 10-15mins on hold just to get my call dropped. Tried again and still the same. Anyone has experienced the same?

29 Drive In?

Last year I remember reading about a drive-in theater that’d be open on Wards just past the airport, but I haven’t seen anything about it this year. Does anyone know if it’s still running?

Any therapists available for no income no Medicaid clients?

I need a therapist bc my grandma is threatening to throw me out bc of my mental health issues. CAN sent me to Horizon for counseling, but Horizon refused me service due to no Medicaid. Like why offer a sliding scale if you're not gonna use it. Horizon sent me back to CAN, but lo and behold, they don't have a therapist either. Nobody wants to help me. As somebody who studies psychology, this is exactly why the field of psychology is a joke

Viral fruit pastries

I have been personally victimized by these shiny little fruit pastries all over TikTok and Instagram.

LOOK AT THEM. They’re tiny edible works of art.

I need to know:

What are these actually called?

Where are people getting them?

Are they worth the hype or am I about to spend $14 on a single bite of fruit pudding?

If anyone knows bakeries in Lynchburg that sell them, let me know!

Best coffee shops in Lynchburg for studying (late hours)?

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for good coffee shops (or similar spots) around Lynchburg where I can study for long hours. My main requirement is reliable outlets/ports for charging my laptop.

It’d be a huge plus if the place has good coffee and stays open until late evening.

Any recommendations?

Car help

Hi! We are super duper broke right now and our car is misfiring. We suspect it's the spark plugs but have no idea how to change those ourselves and don't have the tools. We do have the new plugs ready. We're hoping someone can help us out as I have my immigration interview this tuesday in fairfax 😬

Thank you so much!

Old Arcade at River Ridge?

Anyone remember the name of the arcade at the mall? It was there during the 80’s and early 90’s, I think. The name has left my brain.

: Felt discriminated against at the Habitat ReStore in Lynchburg today and I’m still heated

POV: happened to my friend today…

I’m still mad about this and maybe some of y’all will say I’m overreacting, but I know what I saw.

I went into the Habitat ReStore on Alleghany Avenue in Lynchburg looking for paint for my house. While standing near the register, I noticed a white woman checking out with several items, including one of the ficus trees they’ve got scattered around the store.

So I politely asked her, “Hey, are those trees for sale?”

She looked at me with attitude and said something about being on her way to work. The way she said it rubbed me the wrong way, almost like she was implying I didn’t work or couldn’t afford it. I told her, “I only asked a question. I’m on my way to work too.”

At that point I figured maybe she was just rude, whatever.

So after I looked at the paint, I asked the guy at the register how much the tree cost. First he tells me the trees are NOT for sale. I immediately said, “What do you mean not for sale? I literally just watched that woman buy one.”

Then suddenly the story changes.

Now he says there WERE three for sale and she bought the last one. Another worker walked up and said they don’t sell the trees at all. Then the first guy changed it AGAIN and said the woman got the tree but “hadn’t paid for it yet.”

By then I knew something wasn’t right because I WATCHED her pay for her stuff.

So I told them straight up that I felt like I was being lied to and treated differently. I said it felt discriminatory, plain and simple. Instead of just being honest, everybody kept changing the story.

That’s what made me angry.

Look, I’m 68 years old. I’ve lived long enough to know when something feels off. And before anybody jumps in the comments — no, I’m not saying every white person is racist and no, I’m not some hateful person. We all bleed red. But situations like this are exactly why people still talk about racism and favoritism in 2026.

What also got me is this store sells donated items people leave behind, yet they price some of this stuff sky high depending on who’s buying. I saw an old box-style flat screen TV in there for $200. TWO HUNDRED. That thing probably came out in 2001.

Maybe somebody else would’ve brushed it off, but the whole interaction felt shady and disrespectful to me.

Needless to say, I won’t be going back

Moving to beautiful Lynchburg/Forest

We are moving from the Western USA to your beautiful area and I would love some help figuring things out. We are a politically progressive Christian family with too many kids. I would love to know:
- what the schools are like, and how easy-going are homeschool laws

-the best neighborhoods for kids

- how friendly, social, and open the people are

-the current political state is of the area

-what you love about the area

Any help would be wonderful!

Bacon

I'm looking for a nice, thick bacon. More like a shoulder cut than the fatty strips you get at the grocery store.

Any recommendations for where to look locally? Years ago, I lived in an area with a butcher who processed all of the meat themselves but it looks like we maybe don't have that here.

Reconnecting!!

Hey there all, i spent a good portion of my childhood living in Lynchburg before being pulled out for homeschool and eventually moving away, im looking to reconnect with some classmates,

If you remember going to school with a tall(ish) kinda awkward boy with short blonde hair and blue eyes who moved from maine, living practically down the street from t.c Miller, I'd love to reconnect! See if we went to school together, see how life's going and jist see whats new

Opinions on Liberty's MBA?

I'm trying to get non-biased answers and wanted to see what locals thought. I did my BA from Argosy University which was for profit and closed down in 2019 and this was the only MBA program accepted my application (Liberty is also accreditted by ACBSP so that was a relief). I had a 2.9 as an undergrad and was working full time at various restaurants while dealing with at home problems. Argosy did 8 week classes but it lost accreditation.

I couldn't find any good reviews of Liberty's MBA specifically and am debating about coming over to campus. I would like info about the program, recruiting events and other info. From what I've seen posted online, MBA students complain of being accused of using AI by professors and a few people complain that the school does nothing for their careers. The online ranked #237 in the country out of 364 by US News and World.

Airport

I'll be spending about eight hours at the airport in Lynchburg today.

I've seen some posts that it is only vending machines. I've seen conflicting AI posts that it has a restaurant.

Does it have a restaurant or pub?

Thanks!
