Hey everyone, I have met a malayali girl on Chatroulette. And we have talked there for like 3 hours. We shared our numbers , social media. We started chatting. We caught a vibe with each other. We became good friends . Even I thought I got good friend with whom I can learn Malayalam which I always wanted to do. suddenly after 2 days she said it’s not working we shouldn’t talk to each other and she blocked me on every platform. I have tried calling with other numbers( I know that’s creepy but I really missed her) but after I say ‘hello’ she would hang up and block me. It’s been 6 months but I still can’t get over her. I don’t know what to do.

How do you say ”turn it off” or “turn that off” in conversational Malayalam?

I've heard and have been using "നേറ്റിക്ക്ഇടുന്നത്' or നേറ്റിക്ക് ഇടുക for clothes that we wear casually at home....most probably from the word "nighty'....any other expressions from anywhere else?.... I'm frm around Chalakudy, Trsr....is this used anywhere else?

Hi everyone I'm new to this sub i have recently taken interest in learning malayalam if not in writing at least I would like to speak and understand malayalam...i love malayalam movies a lot. I'm not able watch few of them because they don't have english sub

are the malayalam words സംസാരിക്കുക (to talk) and സംസാരം (the secular world/cycle of samsāra) of the same etymological origin? or is the verb meaning "to talk" of a different native dravidian origin perhaps? (though i doubt that's the case)

and if both words have the same etymology, how could this semantic shift have possibly happened to mean speech or conversation in malayalam?

As we know Malayalam natively does not have any nasal vowels unlike languages like Hindi and Bengali. By this I mean vowels that have a nasal quality like "han" (yes) in Hindi where the consonant n is not articulated but absorbed into the vowel.

Does this happen in spoken Malayalam? I think I might unconsciously say വരാം without fully enunciating the final "m" sound, so it sounds like വരാ with m changing the vowel to a nasal vowel. This is something that happens systematically in spoken Tamil.

Do any varieties of Malayalam consistently do this?
