Wife did my nails for me

Asked for a surprise mani. Done by blinding myself with VR goggles, letting her at it for a while, and having no clue what's happening until the top coat went on.

Super cool mani and very happy with it! Much more sparkle and glitter than I'd go for normally, but I did ask for something I wouldn't put on myself, so she hit the mark amazingly!

Vernis blanc

Old and current nails (the blue nails)

I see a lot of guys in here either getting or doing your nails for the first time or just asking questions about how you get into it without being judged.

I also do my toes aswell so just copy the colors you see onto to toes.

I’ll answer the judging question first: unfortunately people are gonna judge you no matter what so just let them be jealous and the looks your gonna get is from men more than women. Women will actually compliment your nails more often and some guys will.

If your just now doing your nails for the first time or your getting used to it: take your time you will learn technique over time of doing them in fact if your unsure about a color do your toes first that’s how I got comfortable with it.

Just some advice from a guy who found himself 4 or 5 years ago now. I also do other stuff that’s “outside of the norm” because I don’t believe in putting someone in a box at all we should all just live in harmony and accept every is different and celebrate that.

How long should a manicure last?

Whenever I go on vacation to a resort that has a spa, I get a manicure which I never do at home. It’s usually accompanied by a massage and whatnot, but the last few times I’ve asked for clear polish instead of just a buff shine. I found that I do like my nails shiny and they look good. Unfortunately, after about 2 weeks they start peeling until eventually it’s all gone.

This time, it’s been less than a week and two fingernails lost half of their polish. I do need to wash my hands quite a bit, and obviously they get wet in the shower but I’m a little disappointed that maybe they didn’t do as good of a job this time? How long should polish last? I have no nail polish experience and have thought about getting them done more frequently locally. It’s pretty expensive at a resort and probably less than half locally anyway.

Men painting toenails

I’m long time married with children. I got pedicures with my wife but never did any kind of polish until recently and I think im addicted it looks nice and is freeing just doing something that pleases me. My wife is supportive so I don’t understand the problem with it. So is there a problem with it.

Worried what my family would think

For years I have been jealous that girls had this whole thing that seemed to be blocked for guys. It seemed really relaxing and fun that they could get their nails done and envied that girls could do this and guys couldn't or it was weird for guys to go. I also thought they always looked so good. My GF finally invited me to go with her and now that I've experienced it I know what I was missing. And I'm not afraid to go anymore. It's just self care and self expression.

I've gotten 2 pedicures in the last few months. 1st time with my Girlfriend (she picked out the color), second by myself. I got blue gel both times. And love how my toes look.

I'm 26 and live in my parents basement. I wear socks around them so they don't see. But I am getting tired of hiding it. Feeling like I could be found out at any point and they would be mad or flip out is getting stressful. And even make me remove it.

Any ideas of what to do?

Finally got the skill down (chrome powder stamps)

It took a while but I finally was able to competently use the clear stamping polish I've had for months and make chrome stamps! Having over 40 different chrome powders on hand means that a whole big bag of possibilities just opened up and I'm so excited to keep experimenting with it. Just wanted to share, hope everyone is having a lovely day!

UPDATE: The 29yo straight guy considering black polish for the first time. I took the plunge and went shopping today!

I didn’t expect my last post to get so much traction, but I want to thank everyone for the incredible advice, tips, and reassurance. It honestly gave me the push I needed.

Today, I actually went out into town to hit the stores. I felt completely confident and natural asking around, and I ended up visiting three different shops. The staff everywhere were incredibly helpful and completely casual about it, which was awesome. Hopefully this shows other men who want to take the leap to try nail polish that there’s nothing to be scared of (for the record, I’m from the Netherlands).

They didn't have everything in stock, but I managed to buy Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in 'Black to Black' in person, and I just ordered the rest online (SH matte top coat, a glass file, nail polish remover, and cotton pads).

Tomorrow is when I’ll be painting them for the very first time. I’m definitely planning to post a picture of the end result once the matte coat is on! Thanks again, you guys are great.

My first time doing French tips

My first time trying French tips. They kind of need a little work but overall didn’t turn out bad. What do you guys(and girls)think? Nail colors used are Sally Hansen Top of the Frock and Essie Birthday Girl for the tips

Big day (for me)

First time painting my toenails. My wife didn't hesitate. She picked out the color, and did my toes for me. Then insisted we go plant shopping in sandals.
