Language electives

Hi everyone,

I applied to several undergraduate programs in Ireland and I already received two offers. The programs are at Trinity, Maynooth, DCU, and they all include languages in some form, for example:
- Business + Language
- Middle Eastern and European Languages and Cultures
- Linguistics + Language

If my main language is German (or German + Arabic, depending on the program), would I still be able to take electives/modules in another language, for example Spanish?
Or are you usually limited to only the language(s) that are part of your degree program?

I’d really appreciate hearing from current students or graduates from these universities. Thanks!

Arts

Hi, I’m currently a sixth year student hoping to do arts in maynooth next year. I was wondering if anyone who has either completed the course or is currently doing it can give a general idea of what it’s like? I’m hoping to do two of the business subjects but unsure on my other ones. Also, I have applied for on campus accommodation but if anyone has any websites or places to look for off-campus/student housing would you mind linking them? I’m quite nervous as I’m basically going on my own and will know very few people, so if anyone has any advice or tips they wish they knew going into first year pls share! :)

Maynooth Math aptitude test.

Has anyone here failed the mature science entry math aptitude test before? What was that like? Did they offer some kind of summer math catchup studies or something? Did they reach out about passing or failing?

For context, I have done mine at the start of this month, and there have been no contact from them since. Im a bit anxious about what I should expect. I was basically speed running the entire math derusting process since I started too late (and wanted to rebuild my basics), so I get a feeling I may not pass. 🥲

SURVEY PARTICIPANTS NEEDED

Hey guys!! I'm still recruiting participants for my psychology study! I'll be closing the survey at the end of the week so need all the help I can get. You just need to be aged 18-29 and living in Ireland. It will only take 5-10 minutes :)

Student Accommodation

I'm hoping to go to Maynooth in 2026 if I get my course. I've applied for accommodation, but I'm nervous about the waiting list and such. Should I have multiple people trying to book it for me as well, or would I be fine on my own booking it? I really need this accommodation because I live 2 hours away from the campus. Any feedback would be great, letting me know as a CAO first year if it's really competitive and what the best course of action is

Part-Time Employment Question

Hey! I’m an international student from the US coming to Maynooth for a postgraduate program in September. Thankfully, I’ve already secured housing, but I’m wondering what employment opportunities exist on/near campus for people like me. My visa allows me to work up to 20 hours a week, so I can comfortably work in a part-time position. I’m mainly curious if the university hires teaching assistants from their master’s programs, or if I should plan to look elsewhere. Thanks!

School of Education - baby changing facilities?

Hi folks, my partner has to attend the campus next week to make sure she passes an adult ed course. We’ve a newborn baby and she isn’t expressing yet so baba has to come for the educational ride along 😄

The plan is to have baba in the class which has been OKed by the lecturer and to pop her out to me for nappy changes etc.

Does anyone know if there are baby changing facilities in the school of education building and whereabouts they are? If there are none where is the closest on campus that would be open on a weekday evening

TIA!
