54 month requirement for fmge

I’m an Indian MBBS student studying in Georgia, and my university/state requirement says we must complete a minimum of 54 months for the medicine degree.

I’m confused about what exactly this means:

- Does it mean we must be physically present in Georgia for a total of 54 months?

OR

- Does it simply mean that the MBBS course duration itself should span 54 months, regardless of vacations/travel outside the country?

I’ve taken normal university vacations and short trips abroad during my studies, and now I’m worried whether those days outside Georgia reduce the counted duration.

Has anyone from Georgian medical universities dealt with this before, especially for licensing/internship/FMGE/NMC purposes?

Would really appreciate clarification from someone who knows how this is actually calculated.

TL;DR: Does the 54-month MBBS requirement in Georgia mean 54 months of actual physical stay in the country, or just that the medical course duration must officially span 54 months? I’ve taken vacations/short trips abroad during MBBS and want to know if those days outside Georgia affect eligibility for NMC/FMGE.

Doing MBBS in UK

Hi everyone, I am making this post because I replied to a DM I got. I am a final year medical student in the Uk. Doing medicine in the Uk is a really good choice if you have the funds for it and do not want to go back to India or your home country. If you have any questions, I will answer them.

Do NOT choose georgia for mbbs abroad

I know after another paper leak a lot of Indian students will be fleeing to foreign countries to study.

Here’s my honest and details review as someone who is studying in Georgia, who wishes someone warned me the way I’m going to warn the students here.

First, don’t believe any seniors if they try to tell you otherwise because a lot of these kids cannot afford to live in Georgia and end up becoming agents to survive. These people want you to come in herds so that they can survive. They are parasites in short.

Now why you shouldn’t choose Georgia and specifically seu if you are serious about your studies and want to become a decent doctor.

  1. one sem is of only 4 months where after first 2 weeks of classes they start with oral test (week 3) then 4th week is for written. Now you must be thinking oh wow that seems quite strict but here’s the thing the questions for written tests, circulate on groups just the same way the NEET paper has been circulating. So kids just learn the options and sit for exams. It is same for mid terms as well, which happens after the written. All of these exams are mcq that happen in computer labs. What’s my issue with this? If you are willing to become a jholachap doctor, this is heaven for you. Now I know why fmgs struggle to crack fmge.

  2. agencies will suck every penny from you. They will claim it’s 25-30lakhs but in reality they will take a lot more than you. A lot of these charges are hidden until you get accepted in university.

  3. Don’t even think about taking help from seniors, they are just agencies rebranded.

  4. The bureacracy is a nightmare, no amount of paper is ever enough in this country. It is constantly a legal battle that will not only mentally drain you but also financially.

  5. If you’re coming through atmia, DONT YOU DARE mess with them. They own shares in seu and basically it is their university. They can do anything to you and get away with it. They will make your life a hell. They are hungry for money.

  6. It is not European. The only thing european thing about this, that you pay a lot more than other non European options to get education that is same level as them.

  7. It is expensive to survive here. Calculating both your fee and survival you’d spend at least 60 lakhs. It is my personal suggestion to use that amount to study in some doomed private medical college in India, because even the worst in India is better than the best in Georgia.

  8. People are racist

  9. About batch, there are about 30 or more students in one class. But there are about 18-20 groups each consisting of 30 or more students. Do the math. Usually there are 400+ students and only around 250 can legally graduate in georgia at one time, so the unis fail students in later years.

Please, please, I beg you do not ruin your life. I was naive but now I want to help other students. Even if you have to study abroad choose a cheaper country.

For the person who asked expense and number of students I spend approx 300 dollars a month. This is the minimum amount I believe that you have to spend. Because the cheapest option to live in atmia hostel is 190 dollar. The cheapest mess is the atmia's and that costs 65 dollars a month if you pay for 1 full year beforehand. The rest you need for personal expense.

Update 1: student agents, it is pathetic to attack me and try to deflect future students from the truth!

Update 2: does every person on this sub have a reading difficulty? Where did i demand the uni to spoon feed? You guys are coming with the same shitty justification! Questions with answers being available on random whatsapp group will bring down the credentials of the school?? How is that statement equal to "oh no my uni does not spoon feed"???? Also i have repeated this a millionth time, I am not saying do not pursue mbbs abroad. My point is georgia is not worth spending 60 lakhs!

Pleass read again and again before spamming the same stupid comment

My biggest regret is going to abroad for MBBS.

So I passed my FMGE this time (DEC 2025) and it was my first attempt, I was so happy that day. I graduated in 2025 June, since then I am just sitting in home. I belong to one of those states whose FMG internship notice is not out yet and this is taking a huge toll on my mental health. 6 years of MBBS 1 years of waiting (that too if you passed in 1st attempt) and another year of internship so total it is 8 years of MBBS. in some states including mine People who passed June 2025 session have still not got internship. We are constantly in a state of fear that what might NMC might say next. so guys who have just took NEET or are going to pass NEET please don't go to abroad, because it is full of uncertainties.

My motive is not to fear monger here, even I was against those fear mongers who just rant about mbbs abroad and how FMGs are treated, but today I just can't help it. I am sad and I want to vent. I am not gonna lie I enjoyed a lot in abroad probably have had my best days, made incredible friends but after coming to India my own fuckin country is dissapointing me

I have called my state commision many times and all I get to hear is wait for few more days, I am 26 now soon I will turn 27 and still her without any job, no money in hand. I went to private clinics and worked there NGL I got to learn many things there, The doctor was so nice to me but yeah I was not getting paid.

At certain age when you see your old folks working, you feel bad for them and want to help them financially so that they could rest a bit, I can't do that too.

Few days ago it was mother's day and I couldn't even afford a gift for her, I had to ask my brother for some money so that I can buy her favourite cake.

I know that there are people around the world who have grave difficulties in life and there are FMGs who are still struggling to pass, I know that for now I am not counting my blessings, But I just can't help it, Not today. I am out of patience and I remember what Freddie Mercury said "I don't want to die, but sometimes wish I'd never been born at all"

MBBS IN UZBEKISTAN

As a lot of students are going to choose MBBS abroad after the paper leak, here’s my detailed review as someone studying at Andijan State Medical Institute after completing 4th year. I wish someone had warned me the way I’m going to warn students here.

First, don’t believe seniors if they try to tell you otherwise because many students become contractors in Uzbekistan and eventually become agents just for money. What they tell you, that your MBBS will be completed within 25 lakhs, is completely false. These people want students to come in large numbers so they can earn money from them. They have filled Instagram with reels and pages showing how good MBBS in Uzbekistan is. Some show cadavers and surgeries, but in reality cadavers are rarely shown here. The surgeries shown on Instagram pages are mostly just for videos; surgeons usually don’t explain anything. It’s like watching YouTube videos without subtitles. Some people even prefix their names with “doctor,” while others make pages in the names of different universities.

i) In India, first-year MBBS mainly includes Anatomy, Biochemistry, and Physiology. But here in Uzbekistan, there are many additional subjects like History, Ethics, Hygiene, Medical Biology, Medical Chemistry, Biophysics, IT, Histology, and Anatomy in the first year itself. Physiology and Biochemistry are added from the second semester along with all these subjects. Because of this, you have to attend classes for many subjects and self-study becomes difficult.

ii) The hostels shown on YouTube and Instagram are misleading. They usually show first-floor rooms reserved for native students. The rooms are very small even for two people, yet they are used as four-sharing rooms, leaving very little space for studying. From next year onward, they are reportedly planning to make them five-sharing by adding bunk beds.

iii) The university does not allow students to stay outside in flats because commissions are also earned from the hostel system.

iv) The kitchens on hostel floors, which were meant for self-cooking, are not open for use. If you want to cook, you have to go outside the hostel to a very small kitchen where even five people cannot cook together properly. These kitchens were reportedly closed because consultants opened their own mess services, and the hostel management benefits from them. Students are also not allowed to keep induction cookers in their rooms, and if found, they may be confiscated.

v) Coming to the fees, our tuition fee last year was 3100 USD, which increased to 3350 USD this year, and it keeps increasing every year. Hostel fees also increased from 500 USD to 600 USD and may increase further. Visa extension charges were around 20,000 INR last year and crossed 25,000 INR this year. Registration fees are separate.

vi) The duration of the degree is still unclear. When students asked the administration whether the course is 6 years or 7 years, no clear answer was given. So it is possible that students admitted after 2021 may have a 7-year degree duration.

vii) In Uzbekistan, there is no separate internship system as clinical rotations are considered internship. However, the National Medical Commission requires a separate one-year internship. This could effectively make the total duration 7 years, although nothing has been officially confirmed.

viii) The study environment is not ideal. There are frequent sports activities like football, volleyball, cricket, badminton, and various events throughout the year, with loud music promoted by different consultants

ix) Earlier, I thought FMGE passing percentage of a university did not matter, but my perception changed after coming here. A good study environment is very important. Students should check FMGE passing percentages before joining any university because it reflects the academic environment to some extent. Here, many seniors focus more on making reels, promotions, and events, while consultants continue promoting universities aggressively.

x) Exams are often conducted just for formality. Hardly anyone fails. Many students appear for exams after preparing only through ChatGPT.

Consultants will continue taking money from students, and overall the course can easily cost above 40 lakhs while still offering below-average facilities. Most students here are Indians and Pakistanis, with many students from South India because consultants heavily promote these universities there. North Indian students are communal and racists. If you want better exposure, consider choosing a better country. Whether you want to become a quack or a doctor is your own decision.

MBBS from china

Hello everyone! I’m a student from India who is planning on applying to universities in china for mbbs. The thing is in order to practice in India, you must be able to practice in the country you studied from. The Chinese licensing exam is in mandarin. Do you just need to be eligible to sit for the Chinese licensing exam or do you actually need to give it. Any Indian that can help me out with this? I’ll greatly appreciate it!

MBBS in Georgia: My Experience

In my experience it all depends on you and how seriously you take medicine. I know a lot of students who came here just to get the degree and pass easily cuz there's nobody to regulate you and it's very easy to cheat in the exams. Or they just don't put in the effort and then blame the system cuz "they don't teach u anything here". But a lot of students are actually serious and they're doing great. You just have to find the right crowd. Unfortunately most of the people commenting on here aren't that. You won't get the same education here that you'll get in India for sure. The professors here are a mix, some care some don't. But mostly you're on your own and you'll have to go out of your way to get ahead and make the most out of what you have. This is a very well known fact about studying abroad, self study is the only way. All of the resources and materials provided are good (standard textbooks) and the structure is pretty good too. So yeah if you're able to regulate yourself and stay consistent you'll be good. If not, you'll struggle. Besides this, it's a beautiful country and you'll learn and grow a lot more than you would in India I think, cuz you'll be living alone in a foreign country and learning to adapt to that and explore yourself is a pretty once in a lifetime kinda opportunity. So yeah, it'll be what U want it to be and what U make it

Bhai honestly bolu toh abroad MBBS ka reality Instagram reels jaisa bilkul nahi hai

Bhai honestly bolu toh abroad MBBS ka reality Instagram reels jaisa bilkul nahi hai.

Main 2017 me abroad gaya tha, 2023 me degree complete hui. Fir 6 months baad 2024 me exam diya and luckily 1st attempt me clear bhi ho gaya. Uske baad internship mili — mere case me 6 months ki thi, state to state vary karta hai.

Lekin bhai exam clear hone ke baad jo asli L lagte hai na… documents, verification, internship allotment, registration, process pe process… kya hi batao 💀

Fir internship complete kari and socha MO ya non-acad JR join kar leta hu… usme bhi itni maramari hai ki dimag kharab ho jata hai.

So jo log soch rahe hai “abroad chale jate hai, easy rahega” — bhai sirf degree complete aur India me settle hone me hi 8–9 saal nikal sakte hai depending on tum kitni jaldi exam clear karte ho.Aur abhi NEET PG pass karne ke liye alag se 2–3 saal aur lagenge 😂

Aur jo log bolte hai “wahi settle ho jayenge” — Russian/Central Asian countries me licensing exam dena padega Jo unke language me hoga aur tough hai salary bhi kafi Kam hai .Aur agar Europe/US/Australia ka plan hai toh mostly tumhare home country ka registration number chahiye hota hai uske bina kam nhi chalega

All in all bhai bohot chutiyapa hai 😭

Abhi khud confused hu zindagi ke saath kya karu.

Aur upar se NEET PG ka saturation tum logo ko pata hi hai.

Mera genuine opinion:

- India me govt seat mil rahi hai toh le lo.

- Private afford kar sakte ho toh woh bhi consider karo par 1st doctor ho gharke wo bhi bada problem hai par tum parents ke sath milke baat karke sort kr sakte ho .

- But abhi ke time pe blindly abroad jaana main personally suggest nahi karunga just because sasta hai aur samne ka samne dekh lenge .

Hope ki tum log descision le pao ye post padh ke
