Should i get a booster shot?

(im gonna go crazy with how much im overthinking)

Last month, in April, I was biking by myself when a pack of dogs suddenly emerged from under a car. I immediately got off my bike and walked away slowly. I can't remember whether any of the dogs scratched me. On my next biking trip, I asked my friends about those dogs and whether they bite; they said no.

I received post‑exposure prophylaxis (PEP) in 2023, if that helps in any way. I've had an irrational fear of rabies since I was a little kid.

Im 22, 5,5 female 231lbs

That can’t be a normal amount of snot? Also, I feel like there is more

When I woke up today I felt my nose was clogged a bit and when I sneezed, this came out.

I was got impatient, so I pulled it out which in hindsight was kinda dumb I feel because I can feel that there is more and should have just let gravity do its thing.

This can’t be a normal amount of snot, is there any way I can get out the rest? Because I’m very close to putting my industrial vacuum to my nose

I glued a deep crack. Today it hurts and is warm to the touch. Should I be worried?

sorry for the gross feet pics. so normally my feet crack quite a bit and I have yet to find something that prevents it from happening. Well, last night I sat down and glued a crack that was really hurting me and I couldn’t walk on it. it was fine after I glued it and then this morning it is red and it was a little bit streaky earlier, but the streaks have slowly faded. I just need to know if I can wait until tomorrow morning to go to urgent care or if I need to go to the emergency room tonight I don’t want to waste resources if it’s unnecessary, but I sure that everything‘s OK.

Is gut health really related to menopause symptoms or is that just wellness marketing

Seeing a lot of content lately about gut health and menopause symptoms. hot flashes, weight gain, brain fog, bloating, mood changes, all somehow apparently connected to the gut microbiome. I am really wondering if there is any real science behind this or if it is just the wellness industry jumping on the gut health bandwagon to sell probiotics to a new demographic.

I am in the midst of perimenopause now and have been researching various methods. i take my health seriously and i am not going to waste money on things that aren’t actually doing anything. If this gut hormone connection is real, I want to understand it properly. if it's mostly marketing I want to know that too I have seen many but Provitalize and one other brand seem a bit cool to go with but nevetherless, I'd love put this to audience here.

Has anyone actually researched this or spoken to a doctor about this? For anyone who has tried probiotics specifically for menopause symptoms, what was your actual experience?

28 F with chronic brain fog and fatigue

Hi! I'm a 28 year old female, active and live a healthy lifestyle, but for the past 5 years, I've dealt with bouts of fatigue and brain fog that are slowly getting worse until just the past year I'm realizing this is starting to affect my job and social life. It's like most of the time I'm fine, but some days I will wake up feeling horrible like my body has been sucked dry of any energy. I work remote and even sitting at my desk on those days feels impossible, and then I will get almost immediate relief if I lay down.

I also feel a lot of chest discomfort and intense brain fog. The brain fog is like I'm looking through a foggy window and don't feel aware at all of what's going on. I also often black out when I stand up where I don't pass out but my vision goes black and have a ringing in my ears and heart feels to me like it's beating rapidly. I have passed out twice when I was a teenager and another time when I got my blood drawn, but I haven't passed out in the past probably ten years.

Because of that, I thought that maybe this is POTS, so I went down that rabbit hole and met with a cardiologist. He ordered an EKG, heart monitor, and stress test, and they all apparently came back normal with no indications of POTS and they also did a quick testing of my heart rate and blood pressure in office laying down and then sitting and standing, and that didn't reach the criteria for POTS. However, while all of that was happening, he told me to increase my liquids, electrolytes, and use compression socks, and those have really taken the edge off most of the symptoms, but not really enough to make a huge difference. When I mentioned the brain fog again with the cardio follow up, he said I may need to see a neurologist so I guess that might be my next step.

Also last thing, I will say that I first really noticed these symptoms about five years ago, but the more I thought about it, I realized I used to have spells as a kid where I felt like I was dreaming or didn't quite know what was going on, which I would now say was the brain fog feeling, but you don't really have the vocab to explain that as a kid.

I'm tired of not getting any answers and all my tests coming back normal, so if anyone has any insight or suggestion of a type of doctor I should see next or supplements to try, I would greatly appreciate it.

Current diagnoses for other issues are PCOS, mildly low blood sugar (not enough to be dangerous, but I've used a dexcom to learn the signs and adjust my diet), seasonal allergies, acid reflux. So my only medications currently are zyrtec for the allergies and pantroprazole for the reflux. The cardiologist did give me a prescription for Midodrine, so I will be starting that soon.

TL;DR: I'm suffering from chronic brain fog and fatigue and all my doctors say my tests are coming back normal, so curious if anyone has suggestions??

Edit: for missing info, I'm in the US, caucasion, 5'9, 160 lbs, diagnosed already with PCOS and reflux, taking pantoprazole 40mg and zyrtec for allergies, no drug use, don't smoke.

Happens every time I stand or walk for a prolonged time

Doctor said to wear compression socks which does help, but always wondered the science behind this or what exactly is going on whenever I stand or walk for a prolonged time with my feet and legs? These red dots appear and I believe my doctor mentioned something about blood clots but that it’s not concerning since it doesn’t spread

What is my heart doing

Every few days this thing happens where I get awful heart palpitations, I start to feel my brain throbbing along with my pulse, I get incredibly lightheaded and dizzy, my chest feels tight and I feel out of breath like I’m having an asthma attack but my inhaler does nothing. My skin starts tingling and I feel hot and cold at the same time.

It’s not anxiety. I have anxiety attacks sometimes and I’ve had the silent attacks, but I know what those feel like, and this is different. And nothing seems to trigger what ever this is. I’m just lying in bed watching tv and it just happens.

I asked my PCP to send me to a cardiologist but as usual he completely dismissed me. And before anyone says it, I’ve tried the whole “note in my chart that you’ve said no” thing, it doesn’t work with him. I called my insurance company trying to switch doctors but I’m on state funded insurance and they assign my doctor, and they wouldn’t let me switch.

I’ve had a lot of EKGs at the ER over the years and they’ve noted both a T-wave abnormality and more recently ST depression on every single one (the most recent one the ER doc made a note to “consider myocardial ischemia”) but they keep trying to tell me it doesn’t mean anything and I must’ve just been stressed when they did the test.

I have GERD, I’m always nauseous, I get out of breath just walking to my kitchen, my chest constantly hurts. I think there’s something seriously wrong with me, I’m getting scared. No one will listen to me. What am I supposed to do?

Edit to add data: I’m a 25 yo female with a BMI of 20.9, I don’t drink, I’ve never smoked, I eat a lot of sugar but I’m dairy free and eat very little red meat, my father died of a heart attack four years ago.

How are international students with HIV usually treated in Australia?

I am a Chinese international student and I am about to go to Australia this year. I would like to ask kind-hearted people how international students in Australia receive medical treatment? I have learned that international students in Australia do not have medical insurance, and the cost of purchasing medications such as Biktarvy is very high. I would like to ask everyone, do you buy medicine in Australia on your own? Or do you bring the medicine from China (or your original country)? I am looking forward to receiving your reply. Thank you very much. Best wishes.

Worried im dying is this blood in my stool or strawberries

Male, I do not drink or smoke, I am healthy weight, 27, I have runny stool lately due to extreme stress and loss in the family causing emotional trauma for me. I noticed when I went to the bathroom my stool had red specs and these specs "smear" like blood does when I checked. I had strawberries not yesterday but the day before and then again the day before that, but thats the only red food I've had lately and im worried it is blood since I've pooped a lot since then and im only just now seeing this red so surely ir cant be the strawberries. Do I need to see the er or am I ok? I have been having watery and runny stool from stress (why is it yellow?) And the few firm brown pieces of stool, i used a q tip to smash to see if it was bloody and when I did the stool had a lot of smearable red in it???

“Can Thalassemia Trait Cause a Falsely High HbA1c? My Random Glucose Is Normal but HbA1c Is 6.6

33-year-old male.

Non-smoker.

No known medical conditions.

No medications.

My HbA1c came back at 6.6%, which is in the diabetic range, but my random glucose test was normal at 5.07 mmol/L.

At the same time, my MCV is low (64.8), and I may have thalassemia trait. I read that some blood disorders or abnormal red blood cells can affect HbA1c accuracy.

Could thalassemia trait cause a falsely elevated HbA1c result? Are these results potentiallyAnalysis misleading? Should I do a fasting glucose test or other tests to confirm whether I actually have diabetes?

health concern

hi all. two days ago i had sex with someone who i’ve had intercourse with many times. however this time about a day after sex i felt a slight discomfort near my rear end. fastfowards to now, i’m in so much pain down there. there’s a bump and it feels extremely sore, even when i walk or sit. i’m genuinely confused because there was no action that took place down there (if you get what i’m saying). but it’s painful and uncomfortable.. i really don’t know what‘s going on.

Is this STILL infected?

I, 26 F, have a wound that was recently cleaned out (2, 3 and 4th) on Sunday. It was originally infected with staph. Check previous posts to see what it looked like before surgery (5th and 6th). I have had 2 weeks of antibiotics and came back with moderate staph growth on the latest swab (from day of surgery). Since then, no one has been able to redress it and the ED essentially turned me away when they saw I had little redness and normal vitals. So, tonight, (3 days after surgery) I redressed it myself. Not ideal but after insurance issues, poor hospital treatment and transport/timing challenges, it was my only option. This (first picture) is what my cleaned out wound looks like 3 days later. I am not on any antibiotics. There is minimal redness, no swelling (or minimal). Yesterday it was hot and red. Then I went home and it went away. Also the pain has gone down. Are these good signs? Is this wound still/reinfected??

What do I do?

170cm, 63 kg. Non smoker. No medications. Breathlessness and Lethargy for 2 weeks. Irregular BP and heartrate. No fevers. VERY confused. often dizzy and low appetite.

I have multiple chronic illnesses and would like to know should I be worried

I have fatty liver disease a portal vein thrombosis and chronic pancreatitis. I was recently diagnosed with Lyme disease and given doxycycline for an antibiotic. Wellllll I ended up going to ER with bad bloating and pain in my abdomen. They did bloodwork and an Xray and ct. The ER doctor said it’s from the antibiotic and changed me to amoxicillin. He said it should resolve quickly. It’s been over 24 hours and it’s getting worse. Would you go back? He also said that the clot seems to be getting worse. I don’t have a hematologist until later this month. Any advice would be appreciated
