do i need stitches?? or urgent care?

i cut my finger while cutting chicken last night and the cut bled for about two hours. kinda deep. i’ve tried both butterfly bandages and liquid bandages— neither worked. it still stings really bad and reopened earlier. tension was too bad for the liquid bandage to keep it together and the other bandaids kept falling out. may have gotten sand in it.

HSV around Infants

Hi everyone - Need some advice on how to navigate this.

First I just want to say, I have been around people with HSV and never judged or even gave it a thought.

We have a family member visiting that wants to meet our 5 month old son. I do not want to bring him around this person due to several reason.

  1. He's only 5 months
  2. We do not know what type this person has
  3. We do not know if she's on meds or has been
  4. She's a bit of a black sheep & will crash out if confronted with anything

This family member is on my husbands side. He doesn't agree with my take on not wanting to bring our son around because this family member has "been around kids"

He even said "You know I'm going to have to tell my mom about this" I asked him if he's gonna tell her it's only my decision & he hesitated and felt annoyed that he needed it to be "OUR" decision.

Am I just being a difficult for not wanting to bring my son? I feel like my husband is making me feel bad and wanna tell them we're not bringing him because of ME so it takes the heat from him too.

Breast has shrunk after violent few squeezes by male hand

A guy deceived me with a reapectful and kind facade during our dating phase. But the first time we had sex he suddenly did a 180° and started using abnormal grip force on the hip. I toks him hes using too much strenght and hurting me, to be careful. Shortly after he brought one hand up to one of my breasts though in a very abrupt and truly abnormally viokent crushing squeeze with an up and outwards ripping motion. I felt an instant shartp/shooting pain.

In the following days I noticed the pain persisted despite lack of very obvious bruising. Uktrasound 9 days after found nothing remarkavke in any of the 4 quadrants (no hematoma). A dedicated 3T MRI 18 weeks after the injury was also unremarkable aside from several 5mm cysys at 12 ocklock an several 3mm foci on the injired side.

Now, at 9 months after injury, the breast has shrunk noticeably visually. I can also feel it a LOT when cupping both breasts with my hands or wearing a sports or any bra. When braless the healthy side s3ems to "weigh" more. And during my monthly cycle only the healthy breast seems to still become sore and engorged, the other one stays small and feels dead. Therrs still daily discomfort and pain (I assume nerve neuropathy), esp. along the inner breast.

He seems to have done some truly serious and permanent, structure altering damage. Does it sound like the nerve pain wjll stop by itsself? Will the breast ever return to its before state? Why was imaging always inremarkable despite CLEAR changes? And will I still be able to nurse on that side, comsidering its not reacting much to homones anymore?

Thanks 🙏🙏🙏

Physical symptoms when seeing or hearing about severe illness

21F, 162 cm, 58 kg, non-smoker, no medications, no recreational drug use, no known medical conditions. Duration: since childhood/as long as I can remember.

I've had a strange physical reaction for as long as I can remember. When I see or hear about someone who is seriously ill or physically deteriorated, I can suddenly become weak, nauseous, dizzy/lightheaded, sweaty, and feel like I might faint. My heart can also start racing.

Some examples of triggers are seeing someone who is extremely underweight, has cancer, is dying, or looks severely ill. However, it doesn't have to be a real person. The same reaction can happen from a movie or TV show, a video or picture, or even reading about someone's illness.

The symptoms usually start shortly after the trigger and last around 15 minutes. Before seeing or hearing about it, I can feel completely normal.

What's confusing to me is that I don't feel afraid of catching the illness, and I'm not usually thinking that I will become sick myself. The reaction seems to happen automatically when I'm exposed to the person's condition.

I've had this since childhood and it seems specifically linked to seeing or thinking about severe illness or physical suffering.

I'm wondering what could cause this physiologically. Could this be a vasovagal response, or could another autonomic nervous system response cause these symptoms? How would a doctor distinguish that from an anxiety response, and would this pattern be something worth getting evaluated?

Cut my finger. Should I be worried?

I cut my finger on my chair. It looked fine so I left it to heel over. I looked today and saw that like brown line. Is that normal? Have I just never noticed it before? Or should I be worried

Can Doxycycline Give Sun Burn Feelings On Body?

My husband needs to take this at 100 mg, 1 tablet a day for 6 weeks.

  1. Can this give sun burn feelings? He's has light sun burn sensations on his back yesterday and then on his stomach today (no sun exposure).
  2. Should he be concerned taking this for 6 weeks straight at the tablet strength it is? I started reading other Subreddits of people's horror stories of taking this antibiotic.

Thank you so much!

EDIT: My husband also just got done losing a substantial amount of weight (over 100 Ibs), so not sure if that could be a factor or not. 🤷‍♀️

is this infected? 😭

i have dermatillomania and have had it since i was little, please don't lecture me about picking, i genuinely can't stop because i do it subconsciously and i've literally tried everything within my power and my psychiatrist says there's not much he can do for me about it which i feel is bullshit but that's besides the point.

i know the red lines are a warning sign of infection but i'm autistic and going to a clinic usually requires a lot of energy and mental prep for me, so if i can just slap some triple antibiotic ointment on here and cover it with a bandaid that would be preferable 😭

(first pic is edited to hopefully show a little more detail, i just lowered the light balance and upped the contrast. second pic is unedited)

eta: this is on the medial (i think that's the word) upper side of my right lower leg

eta 2: asked my mom (who is a triage nurse) and she gave me some bacitracin zinc to put on it

Not KP but tiny red dots and

I have KP (chicken skin) but what’s this? Is this something I need to even look into?

Hi, I’m female mid 30’s normal BMI. So I’ve have had KP my entire life, it started when I was in 5th grade when it began showing. I have it on my back, chest, arms, buttocks —basically 80-90% of my body.

Under my forearm/arm, is smoother and back of legs and back of thighs looked a bit clear while the front — although smoother that the one I have on my arms , looked like a skin that was just newly shaved. 🪒

Now, the tiny red dots, they’re here again — I noticed there’s small red dots before on the same location, which is back of my knees, they were fewer and I think went away. But today I noticed there’s a bit more of them, I just saw them while taking a bath. It’s more concentrated only at the back of my knees and the rest of my legs have them but scattered and only noticeable when you look closely and give it a bit of massage cos for some reason my KP calms down and clears it self for a second or 2. (sorry that’s the best way I can explain it.)

And upon checking other parts of my body , few on my stomach scattered (only noticeable when you stretch it and few on my arms but one that you can count with your fingers and again, they’re scattered…

I was wondering what this could be? Any idea? Is there any test I can ask my GP to check or I can do? Is this even worth looking into?

Just incase it’s relevant or connected here’s a link

Penis question (circumcised, early 40s)

A few times a day, the skin on the shaft of my penis slides down and covers part of the head despite being circumcised. The result: a mildly uncomfortable feeling due to the pressure on the head of my penis. I have to pull the skin back to free the head.

Again I’m circumcised. This has started in the past year. My weight is in a normal range, and I have the same levels of sexual function. It seems like this might happen more with tighter brief-style underwear but I’m not sure.

I went to the doctor about this once and she was very confused. I’m scheduling a follow up with a different doctor

Any ideas on what is going on?

Age: Early 40s

Sex: Male

Height/Weight: 6 ft, 195

Arc Flash Injury

Edit:
I am 5’10 F 27 160
Marijuana user and have POTS, EDS, Lupus, and Epilepsy
I was working with 2-ton motors that run off 3 phase power (208v) and when connecting power, had an arc flash occur in my hand. It went in through my bottom right pointer finger knuckle and out through that same fingers nail/tip. I immediately went to the hospital but I’m worried it was treated as a household shock. They sent me home with scissors and gauze to cut the skin off myself but I can hardly stand the pain of my hand just existing even on the meds they gave me. I’m worried it was actually a much deeper injury and that my finger is dying from the inside out. I have an appointment at the burn clinic in town tomorrow, do I wait until then or b line for the ER today? I have some other symptoms as well that make me believe the current did run through my body.

[M26] A lump in my scrotum?

M26 I noticed this lump (it wasn't there before)

Is it abnormal? It is spherical and solid

Should I see a doctor, or is it something normal like a nodule or something similar?

im not sure if i got scratched by our dog... should i get the anti-rabies and anti-tetanus vaccine?

i didn't notice this at first, but yesterday around 4-5 PM, i noticed a sting on my left leg. then i saw marks on it that looked like a dog scratch, so i immediately washed the area with soap and water and applied some alcohol and antibiotic ointment. our dog was given to us as a gift. he's still a puppy but stayed indoors since he isn't fully vaccinated yet. so no contact with other animals. should i get the anti-rabies and anti-tetanus vaccines as a precaution? it’s kinda itchy tho and i live in the Philippines.

I've been bloated and constipated for months, what can I do?

I living in Hungary, I am 40 years old. For several months now, I have been dealing with severe abdominal issues: bloating, constipation, abdominal pain, and barely any bowel motility. I have been to the ER three times (once they turned me away on the grounds that I wasn't a local resident). On the third visit, the ER discharged me despite lab results showing my D-dimer level was 4,003.1 μg/l, telling me simply not to worry about it. What is even more concerning is that my symptoms have persisted ever since, and wherever I go, no one properly addresses my condition. A few weeks ago, I went to a private gastroenterology clinic, and the doctor only ordered two routine lab tests and suggested taking psyllium husk. I asked if they could write a referral for a CT or MRI scan if they agreed it made sense, but they completely refused, saying they "won't prescribe nonsense" and that a CT is pointless. I should add that I intended to pay for the CT or MRI privately out of pocket, but they still refused to write the referral. Since then, my condition has stagnated, and my GP just deflects as well. I also went to a public outpatient clinic, but the outcome was eerily similar to the private appointment. They didn't order any imaging there either, claiming it was "unnecessary." Unfortunately, no matter where I turn, I run into these brick walls. I can't even get a private CT or MRI done without a specialist referral, as they require one there too.

Could anyone suggest what to do? I'm at the point where I feel I need to take my case to an international forum, because it feels impossible to get anywhere when the healthcare system closes ranks like this. I'm honestly terrified that my intestines are literally going to burst.
