34yo male, struggling to make friends

Hey, I'm a 34yo male, based in Melbourne VIC. I've always struggled with making friends. I work full time and have zero social life. I've always seemed to get along better with females, not too sure why. I just need people to chat with and create friendships. My partner has her friend circle and suggested I reach out. I'm into movies, photography, day trips and just random chats

I’m building something to help people connect and meet more people in Melbourne

I am a solo founder based in Melbourne, Australia, and I have been in the exact position of struggling to meet people and find new connections. I know that snappy opening messages and profiles are not the best way to really get to know someone.

I have spent 5 months building Eventi, a platform that helps you connect by making it about the activity and not the person. With the mission of encouraging in-person experience as a way to connect, I think people connect better when they are not performing, and instead start focusing on doing the things that they actually like to do.

The app is very simple; you can join or create rooms for activities such as hiking, going to the food market, checking out an event, and then jump into a group chat to get to know them and coordinate the meetup.

There are music events, sporting events, comedy, and trivia, all built with community and connection in mind, meaning you find others who are keen to go if you're in a position where you don't want to have to go solo.

When you create a room, people nearby and based on matching interests get notified that a new activity has opened up, and they can join.

Safety is also baked into it - so feel free to ask any questions.

This is free, so for the record, I am not selling anything! I'm sharing my solution to a problem I have personally struggled with.

I would like to know what you guys think, reach out, I feel like this is a community worth sharing this in.

For those with Android, it is launching this week, so you can sign up for the waitlist on the website. Eventi is live on the App Store.

34M - Looking for a friend to skate with

Hey everyone,

I’m based around St Kilda and I’ve recently decided I want to properly learn how to skateboard

I’m a complete beginner, so I’m not looking for anyone amazing or anything like that. I honestly don’t care how good you are. You could be brand new as well, rusty, or already decent.

Mostly just looking for someone chill to hang out with, roll around, laugh at ourselves, and slowly get better without feeling awkward doing it alone.

Happy to meet around Melb , skate parks, or anywhere nearby that’s beginner friendly.

If anyone’s keen for a low-pressure skate and a bit of a laugh, let me know!
