Hi I’m from across the pond! I support New York giants for NFL so I decided to pick up Mets over Yankees. I’m a MASSIVE casual trying to get into baseball

What has gone wrong with the Mets? As I understood Soto was MVP level, Lindor was t5 SS, I remember DeGrom used to be here… but what the hell has happened? Why do the Mets still suck?

What is this team missing?

In the 12 inning game everyone knew Kimbrel was coming on to pitch the bottom of the 12th so the Mets needed to score at least one more run than the manfred runner.

Then, they score 10 runs… and lo and behold Kimbrel allows their free runner to score

Now, many would say it’s unfair to hold that against him or any pitcher because of how stupid that run is in the first place

But the point is that even with all of the pressure relieved off him by the offensive outburst and the fact the Nationals know they won’t come back so they don’t have the usual incentive.. he still allows the run to score

At a certain point the most important thing about a relief pitcher is that you feel like there’s a decent chance they will do alright

There’s never been that feeling with Kimbrel and his performances have shown why
He’s effectively a forfeit the game

He should have never made the team, let alone cost the Mets as many opportunities as he has

....

I know this game is over but wtf. LET THE KIDS PLAY!

Turn on the TV and it's already 3-1 Nationals Lead

Sigh. Not again.

The Mets were 11 Games Under .500 at the end of April and the worst team in baseball.
We are currently 6 Games under .500 and no one outside of Atlanta has a clear runaway season…
If the Mets win 8 of the next 11 games…not hard but not easy…we will be at .500 on May 31…
Sometimes it’s about belief

Look, I know the standings look brutal and being in last place in the NL East in late May sucks. But seeing the front office just say "screw it" and call up the kids has injected so much needed energy into this squad.Nick Morabito changing his number from 8 to 55 after one game because of the Gary Carter history was an incredibly classy move for a rookie, and that catch he made at the wall against Washington was pure adrenaline. Add in A.J. Ewing absolutely tearing it up since his debut, and it feels like we’re watching the foundation of the next few years form in real-time. Obviously, we need Lindor, Alvarez, and Robert back to do anything serious, but these kids are making a miserable injury stretch actually watchable. Who has impressed you more so far?

I'm tired of shifting the lineup around based on if the starter is a righty or a lefty. Ewing is batting .304 put him in the lineup. Sometimes it isn't about analytics and matchups and it's about being an athlete and making a play. Ride the hot lineup and just let the guys play, stop over tinkering just to look like you have a great idea - news flash the majority of these brilliant analytical moves have not worked!

Maybe Morobito has to make that catch. Heal of the glove man. Maybe Ewing doesnt let Woods score thete and doesnt strike out looking with RISP too. Playing TT was just bad juju
