Is it too much to ask to enjoy a Mets win?

I'm not saying this is a good team. They've been inconsistent, they've underperformed, and there are plenty of legitimate things to criticize. Expectations were higher than what we've gotten, and that's frustrating.

But it feels like every single win is immediately followed by a flood of, yeah, but...

I get being realistic, I get wanting this team to be better, but baseball is 162 games. Even great teams have ugly wins, and this Mets team is going to have to grind out almost every victory it gets this season. If we can't enjoy those wins because we're immediately looking for the next reason to be miserable, what's the point of following the team?

Criticism has its place, especially after losses, and there will be plenty of those. But after a win, can't we just enjoy the fact that the Mets won a baseball game before jumping into everything that's wrong with the club? it seems like some people would rather be proven right about the team's flaws than actually enjoy watching them win.

Stearns' fingerprints are all over this team and his hands are filthy.

First, he dumps the core including Alonso tells us all it's about run prevention. That was a lie. You want to argue Nimmo's contract was bad and Alonso isn't really good...fine you have your opinions. What you can not argue is what Stearns did to replace them. He signs an injury prone player to replace Alonso, one who never played 1st base before. That alone is an awful decision. Worse though is knowing he was an oft injured player with no experience at first and Stearns puts together NO back up plan. None. We have Vientos and Young playing there. Signs Robert Jr another notoriously injury prone player who what a surprise has been injured all year. Not sure what everyone does for a living here but I promise if we made decisions like that and it burned our employer we'd all be fired! Also, it is obvious he is making game day decisions for Management. Horrendous line ups during the year playing the Wagaman's of the baseball world over starters in important games. And just yesterday Ewing is benched against Sale. Yes, a tough lefty and Ewing is struggling against lefties but he is a rookie, he is our FUTURE, we are not winning anyway, we are 15.5 games out, give him the experience asshat. There is no way Green made that call on his own. (Ewing had two hits against two different lefties today btw) Stearns fired Hefner last year blaming him for the pitching collapse, the one Stearns created. No accountability there. Now Hefner, one of the better pitching coaches in baseball, is guiding the pitching staff of the team with the best record in baseball. He didnt beleive Richardson was an asset to this team. Let him walk and Mets go from top five in steals last year to bottom three this year. Lastly, not a week ago Stearns was still trying to sell us on the "process" it's still early. I could go on. His arrogance has killed this team.

Beltran the Next Manager?

I’ve been seeing Beltran’s name floated around as the next manager of the Mets. If he’s already working within the organization, and there’s mutual interest, why would they not just have him start managing now, so he can learn, make his mistakes, and build rapport with the core group of players during a season with no more expectations?

Deadline and next season roster

Just compiling lists of who could go, who won’t go even though we want them to, and what the outlook for next season looks like :

Deadline trades:
Minter, Peralta, Taylor, Raley, Holmes because 0 chance he takes the player option he’ll get more on the open market, Young, Brazoban

Players you should listen on if you can get a top 5 prospect back:
Weaver

Players you hope a team will take but 0 chance anyone wants them and they will be on the team next year:
Senga, Manea, semien, polanco

By the offseason Bo will opt out. The following players no matter what cannot be on the team to start the year:
Baty, Vientos

You’re essentially going into the year with a combined good 2 catchers, an awful 2b (semien) a good short stop, 3 good outfielders, and a consistently injured bad DH (Polanco). There are fringe prospects that could possibly make the team (Clifford, Reimer, Morabito).

For pitching you got 2 good starting pitchers, 3 starting pitching prospects that hopefully 2 could make the jump (Tong, Santucci, Thornton), 3 spot/long pitchers that no team probably wants, and weaver/williams in the back end.

Holy god do things look bleak.

Today was the first time I ever turned a Mets game off. They did something to this team alright.

It's called destruction.

This is beyond "losing."

This is a debacle.

It is a destruction of a fans love of the game.

Congratulations to Steve Cohen, David Stearns, and their loyal supporters.

Enjoy your positive feedback loops because even your rage bait isnt working anymore.

Baseball is dead.

Time for Mets deadline sale to begin. Everyone but Ewing, Benge, McLean, Scott and Soto should be made available

Bunch of Clowns Smiling at the End

I would not be smiling almost losing after leading by 6 Runs in the 9th inning

These bums should be ashamed of themselves.

I’m pretty sure every game Vientos makes an error he plays the field.

Like no exaggeration. The irony since we traded Pete for defensive runs saved. Please trade this clown. Also the fact he still refers to himself as swagger V. He’s so bad.

Season Record

Does it help the Mets longterm(drafts/payroll/etc) to do worse or finish in a mid-tier spot(12-15 of 30)?
For instance if the Mets do end up in the Bottom 6…the draft pick odds get better…and payroll might also come down well below the luxury tax
It’s a very bitter pill to swallow but is the result of say…55-107 better for the future even if it results in the 2nd worst season of their history?
I am not advocating for complete surrender…but if this season continues to slide…the only hope is the future
