Any Advice on using units from later editions in 2nd Edition?

Im getting into 2nd edtion and i was wondering if anyone had any experience converting some of the more modern units to be used in 2nd edition?

I love the more narrative casual focus of 2nd Ed but i would love to be able to use stuff like a more expansive necron list, actual wolves for space wolves, A greater variety of demons ect.

So if you have any advice or guides for how i could go about that without comepletely breaking the game (Well, more than 2nd ed already is) i would really appreciate it.

and if anyone has links to some of the old GW articles from this edition related to this like the vehicle system updates (Or even just the ones that expand the army lists like the tallarn list) it would be a great help

Desert Camo Devilfish

A little sloppy, but its table ready. I have one more Devilfish, a Broadside and 8 Pathfinders to paint before a 4th edition game this weekend and my whole 2000 pts will be done

Did these two kits co-exist together?

I just got curious on whether they existed together or not since mixing some of the helmets from the chaos warriors kit would be kinda cool. And in the older artworks, some of the CSM had their style of helmets.

I know the mono-pose-ish chaos warriors from the old age of sigmar co-existed but their helmets arent really exactly what I want. Im going for a 2nd edition/3rd edition vibe with my warband, and I figured the much older chaos warriors kit was a good idea for it.
