Anyone know any details about this mini?

As I build my 5th edition crimson fists army I noticed this captain paging through the old codex. Obviously a conversion but curious if anyone knows any details about him.

This one was an "experiment" really, but it turned out pretty well in my opinion!

My first Kitbash/conversion, which took some effort!

My Deathwing has strong roots

Strange how the story that made me start the collection of my Dark Angels has somehow been put aside but resists oblivion even among the new generations.

Orks vs Eldar 5th Edition!

Had a really solid game of Orks (4th) vs Eldar (6th) Orks ended up winning by a single dice roll to see if the game would end, turn 6 guaranteed an Ork victory!!

Dark Apostle on Bike

I was reading the CSM 3.5 codex and became inspired to make a fast list that focuses on summoning Daemons. I was thinking of how to represent my Chaos lord on bike and then it came to me; Popemobile

I hope you all see the vision haha

Isn't it crazy how hard it is to assemble a Space Marine army set in M41?

To get something that combines the current scale of 40k, with the old style mixed-armour pieces of Tactical Squads during M41, you really have to go out of your way.

Heresy Mark VI is a good start. Then it's a case of combining armour elements from the current Tactical Squad, Infractors/Tormentors, Space Marine Heroes, Red Corsairs.

The hobbying required to pull this off is admittedly, really enjoyable. But sourcing the parts costs an arm and a leg.

It's far easier to collect an army set in either M31 or M42.

Third edition shooting while in close combat?

Very new to third edition, while reading the rules from alt40k for third edition, I could not get the meaning for the shooting phase. Since I can't find anywhere that says we cannot shoot while in close combat range. Can any veteran confirm that to me?

Edit: solved, thanks for the kind assistant

One of my favourite things recently has been seeing how I can use new kits to represent 5th edition units.

The recent Commissar Graves kit has been a delight. With a couple of arms from the guardsmen kits I was able to make 2 commissars, a Master of Ordinance, a Regimental Standard bearer, a command Chimera for my Company Commander (proxy) and some veteran guardsmen in carapace armour for my company command squad!

O Captain, my captain

Finished up the captains I got from the recent made to order. Tried out the Vallejo True Metal Metallics on 3 of them and I think it’s pretty reasonable.

(cannot be bothered with potential drama in r/oldhammer even though these are from ‘91 originally)

Space Wolves 13th company in 3rd Ed

Hi all, I am starting a 13th company army for a 3rd ed event. Since I never played 3rd ed, and much less space wolves, I wonder if anyone has any experience and can suggest what to focus on in terms of list building? I'm not so interested in the strongest unit, but just to know if there's any pitfall that I should avoid? At the moment the plan is to have a couple of units of Wulfen, a Rune Priest and a unit of Long Fangs, since I like the lore behind all of them.

Space Marine scouts gold standard (my opinion only)

A period in which the skill of a master sculptor like Jes Goodwin and already a high technical level of metal miniature molding were still combined. The faces of the models of those years remain unsurpassed for me, especially considering the size. What do you think about?

Desert Catachan

Some Catachans to reinforce my Mordians haven't painted in awhile but enjoyed these may get them up to a full squad.

Blood Angels Baal predator

Finished up the Baal predator “Invigilus” tonight. Had the rush a few details because I’m on a time crunch but overall I’m happy with how it came out. I love sticker bombing vehicles, it’s very satisfying.

What makes Warhammer 40k 3rd, 4th and 5th editions considered as a single specific era?

I just got to try the 2nd edition but actively played the next 3 and it's just a coincidence that this matches what is considered midhammer by many. The second still tried to be close to a traditional Wargame in its mechanics, (in many ways more realistic) but despite the detail and the abundance of rules, it was then less varied, both as for the army lists and as a play development, because some units and combos were really superior. The following ones maintained a very similar layout and the aesthetics and lore seemed mature and established. Having no experience beyond the 5th edition, I ask you: what has changed after that was so evident? The aesthetics of the models, the temporal setting, the game system? What do you miss more? Thank you in advance 🤗
