Milk Filter Mobile as an Android app with Milk Filter and a Pixel art one !

Hey — some of you might have seen the web version I posted a while ago (here). I've now ported the whole thing into a native Android app, more accessible to anyone. Just download the APK from the github and play with it :)

It has the same two filters:

Pixel Art Filter — my own dithering filter with custom color palettes inspired by the game's aesthetic. You can tweak brightness, contrast, pixel scale, grain, color count and pointillism. Gives a look really close to the first game.

Milk Filter — a port of the filter originally made by u/DarkShadowYT21, now running fully native on Android. Full credit to him for the original algorithm and concept.

Both filters work on any image from your gallery. You can share or download the result directly from the app.

The UI is built entirely in pixel art style, using a font really close from the game, and assets from the ARG website.

Really looking forward to see what you guys create.

Could Milk have been inspired to some degree by the Lain game for the PS1?

For starters I love both games, among my favourites.

The reason I mention this is because there's a bunch of things they have in common, the most odd one to me being this at the very start of the Lain game:

The first ever dialogue in the Lain game is about milk:

Cou002

But I don't think that's the only thing in common ofc, both games are very focused on mental illness and loneliness.
Lain is so lonely she's only seen talking to a psychologist, Milk is so lonely that she's only seen talking to the player.

More things in common I can think of is how both dropped out of school early, how both of their mothers are abusive and how both of their dads are gone.

Both also saw the ugly side of the internet, Lain met Mr. Rabbit who sent her gore and manipulated her, Milk met someone else who she also trusted but harrased her into quitting the internet.

And of course the more obvious one, both struggle with suicidal thoughts.

Milk Filter Online as a Web App, now supporting images and video, 2 different filters

Hey — some of you might remember a tool I made for applying a milk-style filter to videos (here). I've refactored the whole thing into a browser web app. No install, no upload, everything runs locally in your browser in seconds.

It now has two filters:

Pixel Art Filter — my own dithering filter with custom color palettes inspired by the game's aesthetic. You can tweak brightness, contrast, pixel scale and grain. It gives a look really similar to the first game.

Milk Filter — a port of the filter originally made by u/DarkShadowYT21, now running fully client-side in the browser. Full credit to him for the original algorithm and concept.

Both filters work on images and video. Drag & drop, paste, or choose a file.

The UI is also heavily inspired by the game, using similar borders and even assets for the ARG website.

If you like the website and would like to support my work, there is a ko-fi link in it, anything would be really appreciated :3

Would love to see what you all make with it.

Reminder from milk-chan’s mom

Original tiktok by betch. I decided to edit this on a whim and tbh I find the video cringey but I thought it fit.
