My first digger

Total novice here.

Got hooked on looking at alibaba (on nights offshore) and thought I'd jump into the deep end with my first ever purchase on the platform.

Dealt with Rippa directly and bought this little gem!

Went for the R06 with kubota engine and added:

80cm grading bucket

30cm standard digging bucket

20cm trench bucket

80cmx20cm auger

Sy350 concrete breaker

Ripping claw (free of charge)

15+ filters (free of charge)

Got 10 hours on it so far and seems fine.

I'm in the UK by the way.

Cheers

Dilemma Huayee vs Rippa vs Eagle

Good morning guys. I am torn between purchasing a Huayee HY18 or SHY15 and a Rippa R18 Pro. I understand the price point and capability differences in the units. Also, does ANY ONE have any experience with the Eagle ED3100 mini excavator? I cannot seem to find very much info on the units in way of personal reviews.

My property has a 20-25% degree slope, so I am concerned about free wheeling but I believe this has been addressed in all of the above models (not sure about the ED3100) but would appreciate any personal thoughts.

The closest mini excavator dealership that sales a Rippa is about 45 minutes from my house. The dealership says they are an authorized Rippa dealership; however, Rippa's web site does not list them as an authorized dealerships. Is this just an oversite on Rippa's website? How can I confirm if they are a true Rippa authorized dealer?

Secondly, I like the Huayee but the nearest dealership is about 3 hours away and they will not have anymore units in until sometime in August and I need to get a project done before August. Does any one have any experience in buying a Huayee from a different dealership and having them warrantied (parts and repair) at the more local dealership? I am concerned that local dealership would not want to provide the same level of support to me as they do the customers who bought directly from them but as I said, they are out of the units until August.

Appreciate any thoughts.

Breakdowns??

Looking at a QK20r but after studying for couple weeks on it I'm really wondering if there's as many problems with mini excavators as it appears.

i can wrench well enough, but some areas on these almost need an overhead hoist and large shop to work on.

How are the common homeowners handling this ?

Time to adjust to Cat nextgen elec/hyd excavator controls?

TL;DR Did you also initially hate the electric over hydraulic next gen controls? Did you ever get over it and learn to like it?

So Cat makes some unique small excavators like the 302 and 302.7 and I'm looking at buying one. I have probably 100 hours in Cat next gen machines (this was a couple years ago) and I have to say I strongly disliked the controls. I've been operating for 10 years, about 4,000 hours, so I'm competent, and I've been able to adjust to any normal hydro/hydro pilot controlled machine in a couple hours to full proficiency. But even after that 100 hours on the Cats, I still felt like something was off. The lack of tactile feel or feedback i guess, idk.

Anyways, now I'm looking at purchasing a cat machine because they have certain options that no other manufacturer does. Also, I think the elec/hydro controls are probably easier on the shoulders and arms over the long run, so there's some extra appeal there. But I'm worried I'll never get to the point of actually enjoying the controls. Whereas on my current pilot/hydro machine I find it very pleasing to operate. Anyone have relevant experience they could share?

edit: retractable tracks on the 302.7 is the unique feature. if anyone has seen that on a 2.6-2.7t machine by another brand, let me know! (also the 302 has much more power and a little more weight than the only other comparable, 2 ton retractable track machine, the bobcat e20)

XCMG

What do we think about the brand XCMG? Specifically, a brand new 18 U mini excavator?

I actually have a deposit on a Ripa or 22 pro, but the manufacturer is not communicative to my dealer on when it will show up. In addition to that, I see a lot of unflattering stuff lately about them on the Facebook pages. I have a purchase and sales agreement for $24,000 in this machine.

Seeing as how I’m tired of waiting, I went and looked at a few others today one being an XC, MG, 18 U. Very nice machine seems like a step up from the Rippa. The dealer is more of a dealer, with a lot of machines around an actual shop, sales office, and at least two guys who do on site repairs. in addition to that, the warranty is 10 times more beefy than Rippa’s.

To get into this machine would bump me up another $3000, and put me down one machine, size engine, size and open cab versus closed cab with AC and heat.

Any thoughts or opinions on this?

Are rippa machines ready to go from the dealer

I’ve been researching mini excavators and found a guy who sells different Chinese brands and he said when you get them from a dealer you need to do lots of things that makes sense (I also have read some about) to them to get them ready for work like cleaning tanks, changing fluids, etc… my question is if I spend the “premium” and get a rippa can I use it without doing all that extra work?

AGT Mini Excavator stalls out

I am a completely newbie to excavators and anything engine related. I just bought a small AGT mini excavator. I've used it for about 5 hours and keep overheating it I think. Now when I drive it, it stalls when I enage just one tread. So if I go forward straight with both throttles its fine. If I lay off one to turn the engine cuts off? What did I break on the machine?

Best (cheap) attachment for firewood

looking to move firewood, split or rounds (logs too). I’ve got a variety of buckets and thumbs. a rotating grapple is too much $ for the job. are there other good attachments or buckets people use to move firewood. maybe a fixed grapple?

right now I use a thumb and a bucket and it’s not efficient

Tb260 regen light flashing after regen.

Did a manual regen last Sunday , now with the excavator on for barely 1 minute these lights flash and there’s a constant beeping. Tried another manual regen, but the regen process won’t start. I can’t find any fixes to this. any help?

electric minis

Ive had my eye on something like a typhoon mini for work around my property, mostly some drainage work, but also moving firewood logs and general landscaping. I've heard that there are some less expensive Chinese electrics coming on the market, but I haven't found any importers that seem reputable that are selling them.

Does anyone have any experience with 2-ton class electric minis? Who did you buy it from, and were you happy with them?

The volvos look nice, but are out of my price range.
