Interesting History of Motion Capture

I didn't know that motion capture had been used for so many different things, even used as computer graphics. We've come a long way I guess.

Rokoko or markerless?

Does anyone actually find mocap suits like the rokoko actually useful when there's markerless ai workflows that seem to do the same thing?

Is a Motion Capture Operator Still Valuable in Today’s Market?

Hello everyone,

I’m currently working as a motion capture operator at a game company, and I’ve been struggling with some concerns about my future.

With AI advancing so quickly, I sometimes wonder whether the work I do still has real value in today’s industry.

Right now, my role feels very passive. I mainly handle the capture sessions and retarget the data to the character models that the animators need. I’m not allowed to give input on the acting or performances because my direct supervisor prevents that.
Also, I’m not a mocap actor myself.

I’ve considered changing jobs, but honestly, the current job market doesn’t seem very good either.

The reason this worries me so much is because I truly love this work.

For people working in related fields, what skills or direction do you think I should focus on in order to stay competitive and continue surviving in this industry in the future?
