here is what i am looking at rn for my wishlist. i love mooncat thermals and am aware of the thicc formula. and i don’t think moonfairy is coming back for the sale but a girl can dream!

other than that, let me know which of these disappointed you!

I saw a few posts/comments wanting these comparisons so I wanted to make an actual post! First picture is outside in the shade, second and third picture are in the “sun” (its a cloudy spring new england day and i tried so hard to get a picture while the sun popped out for a second 😂), fourth picture is indoor lighting

B-hole has the “coolest” undertone out of the three but i’m not sure if thats just because the magnetic effect is a little more on the pink side

I used Hardcore Base Coat, ILNP Two Piece as a hot pink base, 2 coats Strangeberry, 1 coat Foxfire, and Zoya Ultra Glossy as a top coat. I can't stop staring! This was my first time using Strangeberry, and it is so pretty on its own, but i wanted more glitter and am so happy with the result!

I don't have cart limit, but i prefer to at least *try* to exercise restraint, lol. So if any of these aren't worth it during the sale or otherwise in your opinion, or something is clearly above the rest in priority, let me hear it.

Is Black Widow actually red and black? Everytime I've gotten a "red and black" magnetic, it's been a copper/orange and black, or a red/orange/pink and deeper red, irl. Is that red magnetic pigment actually orange or pink to you? Is the base actually black?

Does Deadly Nightshade have a strong pink/copper/orange shift towards the middle like jewel beetle or dragon scales? Or is it more of a chartreuse/green/gold, or smth else?

Does Port 6666 read as purple, or magenta/pink? If both, how much of either? Does it's blue base come through or usually just read as black? Is that yellow/gold/green shift ever actually noticeable, or more at extreme angles?

Does Sand Viper read too pink on you? I have pretty pale skin, with a slightly yellow undertone, and it looks like it could be a pretty neutral, but im worried on me it will just look like gilded ham, lol. Or, just less neutral than I'd prefer, and more princess.

Is The Stranger worth the price, for a sale? I love olive greens, and don't have a good plain olive creme, and this has a nice swampy crocodile lean to it. I haven't seen an *exact* shade dupe, and i haven't experienced mooncat's creme formula yet.

Is The Arsonist actually a red, or is it an orange on you? Does it ever read copper-pink? How light vs dark is it? What is your skin tone? I know reds can be so dicey, and i feel like i never get the same answer twice about this one. Pandemonium pulls orange on me for reference, but Lord Vader doesn't, and I'm fine with Banished Prince.

this will my my first purchase from mooncat and they have so many pretty shades, i definitely want to lean more towards unique shades i couldn’t find dupes for. i’m very curious about trying their base/top coat is it worth it i tried holo tacos top coat and it got super thick and unusable even after i put thinner in it so right now ive been using an essie top coat would love some good top coat recommendations 🫶🏼 for base coats i dont really use one but want to start. i have a very pale cool skin tone so if any of these shades wouldn’t look well with that would love to know thank you!!

Maybe too subtle??

I thought from my swatch book that the rose gold stamping polish I used was actually a different tone to Velvet Rose? But they're way more similar than they look in the bottle, and fun fact, before topcoat it looked better because stamping polish dries matte and Velvet Rose is glossy. Once I put the top coat on everything glossed up and it wasn't as obvious. It is more obvious in real life but the camera just completely loses it. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

If I did this again with a specific photo or video I wanted to do, I would do velvet rose on its own and then the morning after at the stamping polish on top of the top coat so it stays matte, even if it wouldn't be as long-lived.

ok yall im torn! it seems like overkill to get all three. i dont really like the vibrant purple in death's trumpet uv state, but im obsessed with the indoor color, so i was thinking of just getting the other two, but i keep drooling over pics of death's trumpet. im also getting manchineel tree, and it would feel right to get both.
what of these is your fav? any warm toned lacqueristas rocking these colors?

Hello! I'm new to Mooncat, and I've never tried any of their polishes. However, I only do my toenails and not my fingers (I'm rough on my hands and everything chips within a day or two). I know that everyone is posting their sale carts--any suggestions on these? I especially love glitters/sparkles and purples/starry night shades! Are 404, Meowtek, and Deadly Nightshade too similar to each other? TIA!

I have been enjoying peeking into other peoples carts and seeing how different our tastes can be. I have never bought Mooncat before, but it’s my birthday soon, and I have decided to take advantage of the sale. There’s no way I can get all these, so I need to cut back.

What I need most is spring & summer polishes. I tend to be drawn towards autumn & winter shades as a matter of taste, but then in the warm seasons I really do like to dress with the weather and feel like I’m vibing with what nature is doing. Every October it’s like “I’m goth, actually” and every March it’s like “girl, no you’re not.”

The other thing on my mind is matching my polish to the kind of book I’m either reading or writing, and possibly to my ink or my fountain pen.

Sakura’s Serenade seems perfect for Valentine’s Day, Spring/Summer, and when I feel like leaning into the mood of love and romance. I really enjoy wearing thermals and watching them change, but I’m also nervous about spending $$$ on a luxury polish that might get weird in a year or two.

To All Who Ghosted Me reminds me a bit of this purple taupe nail polish from Sephora by OPI that I was obsessed with back in like 2010, only with a bright blue flash. Very wearable. Good for the rainy side of spring.

Garden of Evil would have been perfect during March and April planting season. Another good shade for when you’re done with winter. It’s pastel without feeling like Easter. A garden witch color.

Sagebrush I see this recc’d a lot and I do have a lot of sage in my wardrobe. I think this is a very wearable, natural, earthy shade with some interest and dimension. So why do I feel kind of meh about it? Is it because I saw something recently about “Millennial Sage” and felt totally called out? Possibly.

Ribbit Ribbit I love how bright this is. It just seems super fun for spring and especially summer. I would consider Plankton as an alternative, or Fauve cosmetics Delirium. Not that they’re dupes, but they’re all joyful greens. I don’t have any joyful greens and I want one. I often wear brights on my toes in the summer.

River Styx I have a few impulse drugstore teals but they have all disappointed me. Maybe this could be the one to scratch that itch. It seems really glowy. It seems like it might go with this gorgeous teal fountain pen. (Finding an exact dupe would be a whole other post.) This color screams summer to me.

Am I Everything You Fear I love this, but I’m wondering if my nails are too short to really get the effect? I have long nailbeds but relatively short nails. I have a decent C curve. This polish would be the vibe for sci-fi, horror, and paranormal romance. I like how it’s moody but it has that romance pink.

Heart of Stone A glittery neutral with some pink. I’m worried that the stone color would feel too close to my skin tone. Would this give me glittery mannequin fingers? I wish I were more comfortable with pale nail polishes. I keep buying them and hating them. I have several ballet pink and beige fail-polishes. I was tempted by Sand Viper but I’ll not be fooled again! I should probably delete this from my cart.

Bootlegger Speaking of neutrals, I like brown. I feel like brown is underrated. This seems like it could be a nice late summer brown. It’s got so much gold in it that it makes me think of summer harvests, transitioning into pumpkin season. It’s possible that I’m just trying to convince myself that an autumn polish qualifies for summer. It’s also possible that this’ll look wretched with my skin tone but I think I’ll be ok. I can wear gold jewelry.

Dark Horse There’s no pretending this is for spring/summer, but it’s right up my alley and seems to have more gold than the dupes I’ve looked into. Part of me is reluctant to wear brown because so many people say it’s boring and/or ugly, but I am trying to embrace it as once of my favorite colors. Because it is. People can mind their business.

Dark Night of the Soul This is really pretty and would be fun to wear while reading or writing about a character at rock bottom. It’s brighter than a lot of moody blues, while still being moody. I have a feeling it’s probably not especially unique, but I don’t have any dupes in my collection.

Freshly Bitten I asked my partner to pick a polish for me to wear, and this was it. I am not surprised that it is a vampy purple. Honestly, every polish they pick turns out really well (Fauve’s Matisse’s Mirage was not on my radar and is now a favorite.) This would obviously be great for fall and winter. Maybe early spring, like when it’s still snowing. It would be perfect for reading and writing about vampires.

So anyways, I want them all, but I cannot justify so many Mooncat polishes.

I guess I can cut Sagebrush and Heart of Stone because my thoughts on them were more mixed, unlike some of the others. That still leaves me needing to cut several more.

Still working through my collection of magnetics and flakies to find more fun combinations, so you know I had to take Bloodbender out for a spin! The magnetic formula of this polish is so reactive, its so easy to work with and I love it every time I pull it out of my collection. I'm considering getting a backup bottle since it's LE, which is something I've never done before, but I just love it so much 😍

I topped the pointer and ring fingers with one coat of Eye Candy from Boldfish Polish, a small indie that was previously Facebook exclusive but she's opening a website next week and I'm super excited!! Eye Candy is a pretty dead on dup for Forces of Evil, I'll post some swaths of it in the comments! I really like this combo, the pink base of Eye Candy makes the purple in Bloodbender really pop and the flakies are more orange and pink than the video suggests. Super pretty and I'll definitely be doing it again!

All nails 1x hard core base, 2x Bloodbender (second layer spun for 90 seconds in the 5D Glass Bead Tool), pointer and ring topped with 1x Eye Candy, all nails 1x speed demon also spun for 90 seconds

I've been patiently waiting for this sale, as we all have tbh 😅 Anyways, this is my cart and ill probably need to narrow things down a bit come day of the sale. So, I figured id ask for opinions to reserve some for potential drops. I have a ton of ilnp mostly and I think most of my collection leans cool toned so I tried to add some variety lol. Hi all! Does anyone know if Lottie London riot! is a good dupe for HoH? I’ve been debating getting HoH but I’ve had this polish in my collection for literal years and haven’t used it even once. I also have Fluide secret project robot and also have not used it a single time. It’s a similarly deep, saturated blue but without the shimmer.

I also am wondering if pearl clutcher is a must-get, or if Essie pearly white (with an opaque white base) is sufficient. Thanks!!
