I have two long haired cats who, no matter how much I brush them, seem to constantly get matted here and there. My vet's office won't de-matt them because they apparently "don't groom cats" anymore, and I'm hesitant about taking them to Petco or Petsmart because I've heard horror stories. Any tips are appreciated. Nowhere I've looked grooms cats anymore. It's odd.

It's one girl and one boy, a mother and son. The son is 9, and we believe they're maybe a year or two apart in age. My family has had them for quite some time, but I'm the one who's primarily taking care of them now. I usually de-matt them myself, gently with clippers, but there's a few matted areas in sensitive spots I'm hesitant to attempt myself.

Wsp, where in the boro can I watch some World Cup matches? Don’t want the restaurant/sports bar vibes, looking more of an actual bar, kinda like basement east in Nashville, thanks 😄

I like trying new places for fun, but haven't had time yet. It seems like it's always empty, which I didn't expect for a new coffee shop, especially in such a busy area. Is it bad, or just too unheard of between Starbucks and Dutch Bros.?

“An Open Letter to our Nashville Community from Cheekwood
June 23, 2026

For 66 years, Cheekwood Estate & Gardens has served as a sanctuary of art, education, and nature for generations of Tennesseans. Today, that legacy is facing an unprecedented and radical existential threat, and the future of Cheekwood is in jeopardy.

A group of neighbors, led by Jackson Moore, has filed a formal legal appeal with the Metro Board of Zoning Appeals in an effort to halt construction of a Metro-mandated on-site parking facility necessary to support operations. However, their most recent tactic does not merely oppose a parking project. They are explicitly demanding that the city issue a Stop Work Order to halt all operations and public use of Cheekwood’s property.

If successful, this action would effectively shutter Cheekwood as we know it. It would prohibit public access, halt all programming that Nashvillians have made family traditions, and end free educational field trips for thousands of Nashville school children.

Cheekwood will not be bullied into closing our gates to the public by a self-serving faction trying to wall off a historic Nashville landmark for themselves. We are fully compliant with the law, and we stand firmly with Metro Nashville in our mission to serve the entire community—which includes our active support for collaborative, city-led traffic solutions like a shared-use Highway 100 access drive.”

Hey Boro people — I’m looking for recommendations for a trustworthy local mechanic/shop in the Murfreesboro area, preferably not a big chain.

I have an older vehicle that I’m catching up on maintenance, and I’m looking for a place that’s willing to install aftermarket parts and possibly do minor modifications/upgrades when needed. I recently had some critical maintenance done elsewhere and was quoted around $750 just to replace all three windshield wiper arms, which damn I'll just do it myself.

I’m not looking for the absolute cheapest shop — I’m happy to pay fair labor for good work — but I’d like to find a place that’s honest, reasonable, and doesn’t push overpriced OEM-only parts when aftermarket options make more sense.

Any recommendations for local mechanics or independent shops you’ve had good experiences with? Thanks.

Hey all, if you are a member of the LGBTQ community, this may be something you want to hear, specifically gay men.

The other day I matched with a guy who’s profile said he was 25, after talking to him a bit he said he was actually 20 and had made his account back when he was younger and hasn’t been able to change it.

Whatever, I’ve been there before. We’re all idiots at some point.

Anyway, he’s like, “do you want to hangout”, and I said, “of course”. I go and pick him up, we drive around a bit and then he’s like, “do you wanna grab some drinks and hangout somewhere else?”, and I thought, yeah, why not.

I go and grab the two of us drinks from a gas station nearby and we drive around a bit more to find a good spot. He motions to an apartment complex parking lot and I thought to myself, you know, not my first choice but sure.

Anyway, I pull in, we sit and talk for about five more minutes, then he’s gets very serious, turns towards me and says,

“I’m actually 17, you just participated in delinquency of a minor.” And then he proceeded to imply he had a gun on him, forcibly made me drive to an ATM, and then pay him what I had in my bank account.

I want to file a police report, as I am a student and he took almost all of my money, but at the same time, he told me he was 20 and I still went out and got the two of us drinks. Kind of sucks. The guy knew what he was doing. Plus, he said he had two more of these ‘dates’ lined up the rest of the night, and that he’s made money doing this before.

Either way, this is a warning. Please stay safe out there.

ISO a Kitchen/Bath Designer, not a contractor but a someone who can draw up a floor plan of a complete remodel. Again, no contractors, but a designer with a portfolio and references. Traditional style, not modern. Rockvale area.

I've been offered a job here but I'd be relocating from a large city in the northeast where I walk basically everywhere to stay fit. I've seen mixed information on walkability in the area, but I'm also willing to live outside Murfreesboro if I accept the offer. Any suggestions?
