Garage Door Randomly Opens

Middle of the night or during the day…even when I’m in the garage, the door will open or close on its own. It’s happened three times in two months. Will there be any functional loss if I remove WI-FI controls? I have a keypad outside, a push button inside and Homelink in both my cars. I’m not positive that deleting the app will fix it, but I don’t know what else to do. The door control on the wall in my garage is also on my suspect list since I have to push it a couple of times to operate the door half the time. Do you have any tips. Brand new belt drive garage door opener. Brand new door. TIA

828LM: How chatty via Ethernet?

Need to monitor remote garage door status. Considering LoRa wireless link or cellular.
If the latter, need minimalist traffic. Already have Netgear LB1120 LTE modem and suitable Ethernet router.

Any Way to Opt. Out of MFA?

I use the MyQ as a convenience not as any kind of deterrent. I live in a rural area with two different buildings that have the MyQ garage door openers - it will be a pain to need to stop and get an email to get a code to open the door on one of my outbuildings. - I don't allow access for anyone else via the MyQ

Garage door won’t close

Everything was working normally. We tried to add the built in opener that pairs with our Subaru and now nothing works. Everything I find online says it’s locked but it is not. There is an error on my app for alignment but that is correct also. I’ve done everything I can find to fix this with no help. Anyone?

MyQ app will not connect with a older Chamberlain opener

I can only assume that the MyQ app must have updated and no longer works with my older Garage door opener. When I go through the steps to connect the MyQ device with the opener the instructions state to select the color of the learn button of either white or yellow, my unit has a purple learn button. When I select “other” for the button color it conveniently takes me to the MyQ site to purchase the device. Any way to go backwards to the older app and reconnect to my opener? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Is there an alternative to this disaster of an app and “service”

I’m close to ripping out the physical openers and tossing the whole ecosystem

The app is horrible, messes up the local network stack

Grabs audio for no reason, even on opening

Doesn’t reliably work

What’s the current alternative either keeping the openers and a local hub, or junking the entire system

Crappy MyQ app worse than usual and erroring out on required MFA update

Chamberlain has sent out an email saying that users must update their accounts to use MFA.

The only method to update the account is to use the app, according to both the email and their website.

When trying to make the change in the app as per the instructions (https://support.chamberlaingroup.com/s/article/myQ-App-How-to-Set-Up-MFA-Two-Step-Verification), the app reports "Error There was an error connecting to the server. Please check your connection and try again". I am connected to the internet. This has been the case for the last two hours.

I called support and their response was "try again tomorrow". There was no offer to follow up or escalate, and when I asked for such was told everyone was having the problem and to just call back if it continued.

I potentially cannot remotely control my garage door opening without their proprietary app, which they and only they control. They have sole gatekeeping capability with no backup, and obviously without sufficient capacity/infrastructure available.

I should not potentially be barred from being able to control my GDO due to issues with their servers and artificially imposed deadlines and account requirements by corporate policies.

I also resent the ugly ads and "alerts" that are more ads it tries to shove down my throat just to open my GDO. And half the time the thing takes forever to connect, or just times out. If Chamberlain wants to gatekeep access to my garage door while forcing ads down my throat, they should at least invest some of that ad revenue in providing a working app and infrastructure to adequately support it.

myQ Apple Watch app

Is there any way to tell that your Apple Watch myQ app on its next launch will require you to login to the iPhone it’s tethered to?

I had set up the Apple Watch app a few months prior logged in on the iPhone and did everything I was supposed to tested it. Everything worked well a couple of times without the iPhone with me on my dog, walk, bike ride, etc.

Then one day on my way back from a bike ride I went to use the Apple Watch app an it prompted me to launch the iPhone app and re-login, etc. It was effectively useless, and I had to call my wife and have her remotely open the garage door for me, as we don’t have a keypad because we figured going all digital/app-based would NEVER have any issues, because the MyQ ecosystem is so well thought out.

Anyway, moral is to launch your myQ Apple Watch app before you go out without your iPhone, defeating the entire purpose of trying to be a high-tech citizen who relies too heavily on this crap.
