Riven Journal unreadable!

Hello, I am relatively new to the games, I purchased the new 2026 Myst and Riven games.
I finished Myst and just loved the story! I loved reading the books and learn much about the world.

I started Riven with the excitement of learning more, and I am relatively at the beginning where I got to the part of Gehns journal in the library.

Unfortunately, I am terrible at reading cursive, and I simply cannot understand 30% of what is written!! I tried looking everywhere for a transcript of the journal, but everywhere I found old versions which seems to not be accurate with the 2026 version…
I really don’t understand how nobody in the development team thought of adding this simple transcribing feature that is so common in other games, especially when the text is clearly not easy to read…
So my question is if there is anywhere an accurate transcribing of the 2026 Riven journals?

I don’t want spoilers so I try to read only what I know so far..

Thank you!!

Are any ambience tracks, NOT music, just ambience available from Myst 3?

I used to love just standing on the shore of Amateria and basically use it as a screensaver and listen to the ambience. But all my searching just brings up the music tracks.

I found some for Myst 1, but that's it so far.

Does anyone know where to get these tracks or maybe how I can extract them myself if I have to?

Unwritten Adventures?

Have there been any "modules" or "adventures" put together for Unwritten, or has anyone published their notes of games they've played? I'm trying to see how the game runs in practice. I know there's the Strange Seeds streams, but I tried watching those and had trouble following the story.

Would anyone play Myst III/IV if they were backward compatible on XBOX?

Curious how these versions compare against PC.

Other games?

Does anyone have recommendations for other games available to PS5 or Switch or even Android that are good spiritual successors? I’ve played and loved Quern: Undying Thoughts.

Myst for Meccha Chameleon

Hey yall, I’m wondering if anyone here is a 3d modeler or something of the sort, see, me and some friends have been playing the new hit game on the block Meccha Chameleon, and one of my very first thoughts when I noticed you could mod in maps is what if someone added Myst Island as a modded map. Now, I am not a 3d modeler, I have dabbled in the past to make some minor 3d print jobs but I am just not the one to do this unless it is my very last resort. Now, I’m assuming someone here has the 3d model from one of realMysts or maybe the VR game (we are all massive nerds after all), so I’m assuming it wouldn’t be too hard to import it, again I’m no 3d modeler. So if someone here likes this idea and has the tools available, might you be able to do it? If not, if anyone does have the Myst island 3d model, could you send it to me so I can fathom out how to import it? (really not the preferable choice, the software they use isn’t even the same software I’ve barely used before)

Riven (2024) -- My Steam Deck's blue light filter screwed me out of solving a puzzle on my own

So I had been playing Riven (2024) before bed each night over the last week and greatly enjoying it. My goal with this playthrough was to beat the game completely on my own with no hints. Sounded doable I had played the OG myst (and most of the original Riven) games before this. Everyday, I would make a little more progress each time, and whenever I got stuck, I would eventually figure out that there was some button or interactive thing I was overlooking, and then I would make progress again. Slow and steady.

But this fire marble puzzle in the dome tripped me up, and I got stuck for days with no progress. I figured out >!the 5x5 grid and what locations represented what islands based on the survey island model, and also what colors represented each Island, and what symbols were all needed to solve the puzzle. I also solved the dni and Rivenese number systems.!< I had all the clues to correctly solve the puzzle. But there was one detail that was holding me back and it had nothing to do with the game --I completely didn't realize my blue light filter was on whenever I played the game at night. When I analyzed the >!"yellow" marble in Ghen's lab, I used his notes to deduce a base value of 14. Because the yellow marble note said base value minus 5 equals 9 (based on the yellow marble's calibration tool in the lab).!< Only after giving up on my goal and reading a guide did I learn the fire marble in Ghen's lab was not >!yellow!< but actually >!white!<, and I realized I had the eye-saver/blue light filter setting on. I'm pretty salty about it. >!ahhhhhhhh!<

Lesson learned I guess: check my color filter settings when playing a game that involves puzzles using colors. And if you're color blind, best of luck to you.

https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=n5jetXywKDA&si=4366O7T7Tm3FyUlS

I’m not near my vr headset (only version I have) or id hop in and confirm. Can anyone else confirm ?

My thoughts after completing Myst 3 Exile

What what a journey. It all started a month of 2 ago when Riven came to Xbox, I instantly purchased that after wanting to play it all these years. That was glorious so after that I wanted to continue my adventure to Myst 3. I don’t play any video games at all on my Mac computer, but I did for this game. At first the graphics, and the small window were hard to get used to, I figured out how to expand the screen.

I’ll be honest, other than the next gen graphics I’d riven, I think I enjoyed Exile more than riven. The puzzles in exile just really interested me more and the performances were better. The different ages were cool to explore, especially that Amateria one, it reminded of of that island from spy kids lol, and Talos principle. Actually the music reminded me a lot of Talos principle it was great listening to that.

Riven really didn’t have that many puzzles anyways so it’s hard to compare the difficulty. Exile had easy puzzles for the most part. The ball scale puzzle on Amateria was tough, I looked up a hint for that, the gauge puzzle on Arrakis was also tough but I eventually got that. I fumbled the ending twice, but I guess I got to see the bad endings lol, wormwood running at me with a hammer was scary af.

Should I move on to Myst 4? It’s on sale for $6 sometimes. I saw the reviews were mixed

Picked up this copy recently- haven't seen it before...

I have a fairly extensive Myst/Riven/etc collection. I've never seen this version of the trilogy before, either in real life or on eBay, etc.

Anyone remember this one? I'm adding it to the collection purely because of the design and "#1 PC Game Franchise of All Time" marketing :)

While we're on unusual Myst physical releases... here's a sealed realMyst (2000) box I have; might be officially disavowed :) Still my favorite realMyst

Still my favorite "Real time" version... might be biased, but that fog and day/night cycle is legendary... and I have ALL the versions :) This is a sealed copy with the updated Prima guide included in the box.

RealMyst - do you have to play Rime to get the red and blue endings?

AI overview giving me conflicting answers on this and wasn’t able to easily find answer in the sub. Do you have to play Rime to get the final red and blue pages if you are playing realMyst? I finally beat this game with the good ending(played original in the 90’s but never beat it). I wanted to try and see all the endings but red and blue both saying I’m missing one page. I went back through and it seems like I’ve got them all so I can’t figure out what I’m missing unless I have to do Rime? I didn’t really care about Rime since it was not part of the original, but I will do it if I need it for the red and blue endings.

The Myst Documentary - Summer 2026 Update

Hello everyone,

When we first launched this Kickstarter, it did exactly what we hoped it would do; it gave us the kickstart we needed to begin making this film.

At the time, we believed that securing additional financial partners would happen sooner rather than later. What we couldn't have anticipated were the years that followed. Between the pandemic, health challenges, and a difficult economic climate, a process we expected to take months has instead taken years.

While we've outlined before the financial needs required to achieve the film's goals, we never expected things to take this long. We've heard from some of you about how frustrating this is. We feel that way, too. As you can imagine, it's also disheartening when we're unable to share more information with you, our earliest supporters, or do more to keep you in the loop.

As we close out the first half of this year, I wanted to take a moment to tell you that our efforts have not slowed down. We remain extremely hopeful that we will find the right partnership very soon. In fact, we are in talks with someone who we believe is not only able to help us cross the finish line but who is incredibly supportive and uniquely appropriate for this venture. More on this (hopefully) soon...

Please know this film will be finished, and it will be shown to all of you. Without your support, we would not have the strong foundation, the tremendous interest, and the countless hours of work that have already gone into making this documentary a reality.

This summer, we'll be at Mysterium, where we'll be sharing a bit more of the work that's been done so far. But these updates and presentations are not stopgap measures. Whenever we share progress, whether here on Kickstarter or in person, our passion for this project has never wavered. We have never stopped working toward it.

This film will be made. And when it is, we'll celebrate it together.

We know it's easy to express frustrations in social media comments or under updates like this one. If you have concerns, questions, or frustrations, we encourage you to reach out to us directly by emailing info@themystdocumentary.com. We share many of those same feelings, and we'd much rather have those conversations together.

The Myst fan community is at the heart of everything this film stands for.

Thank you for your patience, your support, and your belief in this project.

Have a wonderful summer, and we'll see you at Mysterium or in the next update.

Dimhaven (another first person puzzle game set on an island) released today.

It's from the same makers of Quern, another Myst-like. I've played the first hour and it's great so far. I would like to clarify that even though I am a game dev I have no stake in the game's success, I'm posting as a fan.

It won't be for everyone here as its a very different style and atmosphere to the Myst narrative but it is an isolated island with fun puzzles on it and some kind of central mystery. I know there are definitely some people (like me) that consider that one of the main appeals of the Myst games.

The more people making high quality games that become successes in this genre, the more likely it is that we get more. Hope you'll check it out.

Myst Dimension Trailer (realMyst 2000 Working Title)

Seems we're on a realMyst 2000 kick around here (lovin' it!)

Here's one from the deep archive: https://streamable.com/kyh8rx

The trailer for "Myst Dimensions (a working title for realMyst apparently). Looks like I saved this July 11, 2000.

I think this is lost media - anybody else remember this one?

Anytime I am offered something Red or Blue, I always say "Green please."

And people stare at me blankly lol.

Green is my favorite color and I wonder if Myst had something to do with that back in 1995 (when I first played when I was 5).

I often joke that in the Matrix that Neo could have avoided everything by taking the secret Green Pill. ;)
