The PCSL Belt Series next year

Answering some uncertainty from the Pod

It's 4 Defensive Matches plus a 1gun nationals with a Sunday finals.
Points gathered lead towards Finals entry.
the 1gun Nats is open to everybody and is all 1gun CORE divisions, but those wanting to get into Finals will be DP/DC.
Finals is elimination style across a few stages. Specifics still in works but when we did Shootoffs a while ago, it was 6 people, bottom 2 are dropped each stage. This might be 12people or something like that for each division. like a top-12 and the bottom 4 drop, then another 4, then bottom 2, then a final headtohead.

I think Venues are currently a Feb/March match at SUPS, mid-june at ForestLake, somewhere in NC, and somewhere in Philledephia(Max mentioned Bill Drummond?). Finals will be Texas with a plan to do 2zones at M160 and 1zone at Rooftop. give it a month or 3 before that's confirmed.

All of ^ is from Max during the dinner/awards.

My complete Belt Match

Takeaways: aside from my own mental errors

- I felt like the old man on the squad, and I'm only 40. It was absolutely skewing younger, and likely attributed to Hunter's YouTube presence.

- Some really good shooters were there. US Army sent their marksman group.

- The plastic on the wall corners were really interesting to see and a clever idea. It worked really well.

- The double up stages put more pressure on me, as I need to make sure I had enough rounds for both. Both stages were pretty generous, requiring maybe one reload, but I'm new to PCSL, and usually shoot IDPA because of what's available around me. But still mistakes were made.

- I would be genuinely more interested if they did not up the weight limits, and I'd love to see what it would be like if everyone shot carry guns.

- My Echelon with the Mischief Machine grip mod, fell into the Defensive Practical, by .3 oz.

- It is a MUST SHOOT again!

DQ question: Taking off belt, gun still in

Hey, I got DQed while leaving the match after the last stage. I did something I should not have by taking off my belt, gun still in, but I am curious to learn more about it.

I've seen people take off gun belts a bunch of times at matches, to adjust them etc. So I assumed this did not rise to handling of the gun outside of the safe area. Which rule clarifies that this is handling and does this not cause issues when people put on their gun belts in the parking area?

Thanks for clarifying and feel free to tell me I deserved it. I already feel as bad about it as I think I can, had a rough day before the match even started. Not that anyone cares, but I had to move some obliterated pet cat off of the road on the way to the match.

Alabama woman, 65, shot and killed husband, 69, because he was annoying, prosecutors say

“She reportedly revealed that her husband kept coming into her room and irritating her, so she grabbed a handgun and waited for the next time he returned.

When he never did, Sheri allegedly went looking for him and fired a shot into his chest after finding him in a recliner. The handgun was later recovered by deputies.”

Mis-set classifiers

I was just going through 25- classifiers to select for our next club match and was reminded how complicated they have gotten. I don't really have a problem with it but it made me think back on another club in my region that consistently fucks up classifier setting. I have personally pulled up at least 3 classifiers pre match at their club and fixed them. One of them I realized couldn't be right because there was a shoot-through. A recent one presented a much more difficult lean than it should have to finish the stage.

I know everyone complained about how shot out el prez and bang and clang may have been but there certainly was some positives in how they didn't present questionability of integrity by how poorly a club could set them.

I don't know how to fix it at that micro level as that club is very set it its ways. Do you guys see this often? How do you address it?

CCW joined altercation, dies

Seen a couple posts recently about CCW carriers joining or escalating situations, and both of them were lucky enough to have lived.

It is also likely you will be seriously injured.

Posted this in the other thread, but if you decide to draw, you're ~5x likelier to be shot (caveat of it being Philly, maybe people keep getting American instead of cheeze whiz at the wrong jawn): https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC2759797/

CCW is a pretty large sub at this point. Glowies are real, but just as importantly, so is astroturfing and people wanting you to think a certain way (ranging from commercial to political to social).

This post isn't meant to discourage you from carrying or training; it's meant to reinforce that shooting and equipment is one (very small) element of you making it back home safe. In the event of you being attacked at or in your home, do whatever you need to for yourself and your loved ones to stay safe.

Also, as it seems a need to be said: there are people on both sides of the law that opportunistically look to slime other humans in whatever context they can, or 100% do not care if they do or cause others to get murked. Evading accountability and receiving praise + acceptance of one's actions is a universal human trait. Interpret that as you will; just don't die for or because of another man's interests while they beg for your endorsement at the same time, or attempt to influence you to follow their path.

It is also much easier to 🅱️oint ur glawk at ur 🅱️enis n keep ur feet pretty when u got all ur limbs n shit. Nobody goes in for mani pedis here either before rippin off hog crankin materials, but whatever, shit's getting 80s again and bush is back on the menu I guess

Anyway, cheers buds

Rules Clarification: Handling firearm before "Load and make ready" is a DQ?

So, my very first USPSA match ended with being DQ'd.

Scenario: We are the last stage of the night, I'm first shooter up. At the starting zone firing line, no-one down range. Draw my handgun, check the dot, and re-holster. I did not load, gun was pointed down range, no-one on the range, and gun was handled safely. RO exclaims "Whoa, what are you doing?".
RO state to Match Director that that is an immediate DQ.

As stated, this was my and the local clubs 1st Level 1 USPSA match. I felt it was un-warranted but like any officer, I was not going to argue with the RO's call. I cannot find any reference to handling the gun before the Load and make ready command is a DQ event.

Stop the INSANITY with Belly Bands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, so this is gonna be a public service announcement and it's gonna be a little long, but I've spent my entire career in military & public safety and I feel like this is something that really needs to be addressed in today's Concealed Carry Landscape because somebody who doesn't know any better is seriously going to injure themselves or someone else around them.

Belly Band Holsters are not an effective means of carrying a loaded firearm and are NOT SAFE!!!!

My first reaction to seeing Belly Band "Holsters" was, "that's a joke, no sane person that carries a loaded firearm on their body would ever put their gun in an elastic pocket." Well, leave it to the CCW community to never cease to amaze me...slaps hand over face realizing people actually still pocket carry. Upon last check on Bezos' evil empire aka Amazon, not only are people buying this trash, but they're actually selling THOUSANDS a month of these things!!! This is actually scary.

Let me be clear, if you are carrying a loaded firearm, especially with a round in the chamber in an elastic pocket you either: A.) have no clue what you are doing and probably shouldn't be carrying a gun whatsoever, or B.) are a complete lunatic. Carrying appendix with one of these things with a round chambered is actual nightmare fuel.

An elastic pocket with a piece of velcro or plastic sewn into it is NOT TRIGGER PROTECTION!!!! An elastic or Nylon strap over the grip on your gun is NOT RETENTION!!!!! I won't even get into draw and trying to access your firearm with a button snapped strap over the grip. There's also actually pictures on social media of weapons in these holsters (VNSH) with cowitness front sights hooked over the end of the elastic on the holster..absolutely insane.

I purchased 2 of these things because I wanted to do a fair evaluation myself before I trashed them online (VNSH $70 is actual robbery and the fact that thousands of people a month are paying this is mind-blowing). Unbelievably they were worse than I actually expected. I couldn't fit a single mid-compact 4" barrel EDC pistol into the pocket on either one, and the P365 that I EDC had to be crammed in so hard to fit that it was moving the slide backwards significantly on the way down. Also, on both of these belts, with my firearm fully inserted, I was able to physically poke the elastic and put pressure directly onto the trigger with my finger without much effort. INSANE!!

It has been shown multiple times now, that on striker fired semi-automatic pistols, putting pressure on the trigger and manipulating the slide will discharge the firearm. Certain pistols are "more sensitive" to this (P320) due to design and construction, but due to the seer/striker assembly interaction and the fact that pistols are becoming more and more modular, trigger protection and slide security are more crucial than ever.

Long story short, if you're gonna carry a gun, invest in a Kydex holster custom fit for whatever weapon you intend to carry, and carry that holster on a stable an effective belt designed to accomodate it.

I've posted before, I have the Tactical Schnauzer CCW Belt and I absolutely love it. I've also got a bunch of my friends and coworkers that carry using it and everybody is super stoked on it. Other options include the Hunter Constantine Belt, very popular belt that I owned before the TS belt, I really like it on belt loops but couldn't carry long hours on bare skin. The PHslter ENIGMA wasn't what i was looking for, but many people like that option as well. Both of those belts also only allow you to carry appendix which isn't always my favorite. Any of these 3 options is a million times better than anything with an elastic pocket.

Bottom line is, if you're gonna invest in carrying a gun, carry it safely. Invest in a holster, invest in a good belt, and for Christ's sake please stop buying BELLY BANDS!!!!!!!!!

Sorry so long, had to get it off my chest. Someone really needs to make a video on this. I'd do it myself if I was strong enough mentally to expose myself to the rampant harrassment and bullying of the internet.

Last thing I wanna say, the VNSH guy actually makes a video on his social media addressing all of the issues with Belly Bands and his product in general and actually says, "well, it's better than not carrying." WRONG!!!! Carrying a loaded firearm in an unsafe manner is NEVER better than not carrying at all, these are deadly weapons, somebody could get seriously hurt or lose their life while assuming they're safe and not knowing better, compromises should be out of the question!

Cheers...safe carrying.

Fighting me in production.

I found the whole conversation about beating me in production hilarious, because I am in that area where beating me isn't brag worthy but it's also not a sure bet. That's what makes us paper masters so dangerous. I'm a fuckin menace boys, no one wants to lose to the guy that took 6 shots on a popper yesterday.

Matchbook Shenanigans

Listening to the discussion about matchbooks on the pod today reminded me of the matchbook from the 2019 Georgia state match. The MD intentionally fucked with everyone by listing the start condition for every stage as handgun unloaded on a table.

Edit to add: There weren't actually any unloaded starts in the match, if I recall. I also thought it was hilarious when he admitted to doing it just to play with everyone.
