Emily Moore

Am I alone in thinking that Emily Moore has been treated unfairly this year. She was kicked out of the starting 7 by Selby-Rickett and now she’s out of the 10. I always thought she did great with what she was given but I don’t think she’s been given a fair go this year.

It’s like Lightning with Reilly Batcheldor (love that she’s got her shot with Mavs aside from the Mavs having 2 other shooters on the bench) and Giants with Matisse Letherbarrow. Sucks they lost Lucy Austin but Matisse is great and deserves the chance to show them why she’s needed. But she needs to move around more or work on her hold.

But back to my actual point, anyone else really feeling for Emily Moore? 😕

Mavericks

I know they’ve had a few big player changes but I absolutely love how they are performing this year for multiple reasons but one, maybe petty, reason in particular - that after only 2 seasons in existence, Tracey Neville left saying that she has “done all she can”. Gerard Murphy has done a great job and I am really hoping that Mavs make the finals.

Im sure there are Lightning and Swifts fans whod rather they squeeze in but I’m gonna support the Melbourne teams til I finally pick mine!

Best netball shoes for outdoor/wet conditions

Hi all,

Starting an outdoor netball season soon. Yesterday, we practiced outdoors when it was raining and I had no grip. We are playing during winter, so I know there will be games played in the rain. I wore my (v old) Gel Kayano Asics 26 - I go for runs in these, but they were no good on the netball courts.

Any suggestions? My biggest concern is grip, I felt that I couldn't play to my full potential when training in the rain, because I was worried about slipping.

Thanks!

Watching elite netball always gives me fake confidence

Every single time I watch top-level netball I convince myself I’m moving better than I actually am.

I’ll watch someone like Helen Housby or Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard make ridiculous movement and timing look completely effortless and my brain somehow goes, “okay... that actually doesn’t look too bad.”

Then I play and immediately remember that TV completely hides how fast everything is.

The footwork looks smoother on screen, passing windows seem bigger, and everyone somehow makes split-second decisions look routine.

I genuinely think netball might be one of the most deceptive sports because elite players make impossible things feel normal.

Anyone else get temporary confidence from watching a game before reality shows up at training?

By the way, for anyone asking, i use https://sportsflux.live/ to stream all my games

who's actually winning it this year

season's been going for a while now and I still have no idea who's gonna take it. Vixens are undefeated and look unbeatable sometimes but they've also had some close calls that could have gone the other way. Fever have Romelda back and she's still scoring for fun. firebirds are always there. Swifts have Nweke who can just win games by herself. View live events from https://sportsflux.live

Rep teams vs club teams

We went to watch an old team play a game saturday and watched a bunch of rep teams on court playing clubs. Was told they are in the fixtures but it’s ok because they make it fair by making them play up. Is that done often else where?

Romelda just broke the games record and I'm not crying you're crying

I've been watching Romelda since her firebirds days and man this one hits different. she just played her 255th game on sunday and now she's the all-time leader in Australian top flight netball history . She started back in 2008 as a kid from Jamaica who was scared to eat anything but chicken and corn . Vicki Wilson found her at the world cup and brought her over. now she's still going at 37 years old. She actually retired at the end of last season. said her body was crying out for a break, then Jhaniele needed someone to cover her pregnancy and Romelda just couldn't say no to her friend . Now she's in perth with the fever and dropped 54 goals in round one . that's a career high. at 37. after retiring. insane.

My recovery group and I got together last Saturday to play netball

I'm a recovering drug addict and am part of a recovery group and they organised a day for us to go play netball.

Literally one of the most fun days of my life. And holy fuck, you need to be fit as hell to play this sport 😅 I was playing mostly in the centre position and godamn; I was running around like crazy. No jokes, on Sunday I could barely walk my calves were so stiff 🤣

But no seriously, what an awesome sport! The one guy was telling us he used to play action netball with his aunt, that sounds like so much fun! I want to see if I can find a men's team..

The one interesting thing is the one girl there with us played netball in highschool (realy big sport here in South Africa for girls) and dayyym she was so good. Like almost every time she got the ball in the D she scored. And like she was so good at making herself available to pass to, but was putting in half the effort I was, I swear 😭😅

Anyway, mad respect and admiration to this sport from me, really awesome! I actually am keen to learn more about it.

The current dominance in Australia as we head towards the July finals

In the Suncorp Super Netball ladder, the Melbourne Vixens remain perfect at 9-0, followed closely by the Adelaide Thunderbirds. However, the talk of the league is the defensive masterclass being put on by the Thunderbirds' circle defenders. With the Vixens' goal shooting percentage sitting at a massive debate whether any team has the defensive structure to stop them before the Grand Final on July 4. Is there a blueprint to beating the Vixens that we haven't seen yet? This is where I stream live https://www.reddit.com/live/1gvoj5bdj405w?

Are the Vixens actually dominant right now… or just the best clutch team in the league?2

I keep going back and forth on this after the last few rounds.

On paper, 9 straight wins is ridiculous and obviously deserves respect. Sophie Garbin has been automatic, Kate Moloney is somehow still everywhere after 200 games, and they just look calmer than everyone else in tight moments.

But at the same time, a lot of these games haven’t exactly been blowouts. It feels like they’re winning because they absorb pressure better than everyone else, not because they’re miles ahead talent-wise.

Part of me wonders if this is one of those seasons where a team dominates the regular season but gets exposed in finals once opponents have multiple chances to study them.

The other thing I’ve noticed is they still don’t rely heavily on super shots compared to some other sides. Does that make them more sustainable in finals? Or less adaptable if they fall behind quickly?

Curious where everyone stands on this. Are we watching a historically great team, or just a very composed one peaking at the right moments?

Gilbert Netball Shoes

I've been looking to replace my netburners, as the sole has gone hard due to lack of use from injury and they were honestly too narrow and hurt to wear.

Having wide feet means I struggle to find netball shoes. Mizuno is a very narrow brand and Asics are allergic to making 2E width netburners.

I discovered that Gilbert make Netball shoes and have managed to find a place in Australia that stocks them. But they're suspiciously cheap. Has anyone worn these shoes before? How was their performance? Did they have a good lifespan?

resin grip gloves people are wearing

What's the deal with those gloves ,, kept seeing players in my league wearing those gloves with the little sticky dots on the palm. Some of them swear by it, say they never drop a ball anymore even with sweaty hands, others say it's cheating because the ball doesn't move like it's supposed to. I tried a cheap pair once and felt like I couldn't release the ball cleanly on my passes, everything stuck to my hand. Maybe I just got a bad brand. anyone found a pair that actually helps without messing up your touch.
