Anyone have the latest news on Georgia Power stealing houses to to build lines for the data centers?

last I had heard, the council refused to listen to the citizens of Coweta and voted for the satay center anyways.

any update on the 30 or so families who will lose their homes to Eminent Domain?

Gwinnett Records Show Coweta County Commission Candidate Tim Ryan Removed As Sub After Student Complaints

Coweta voters should probably read this before election day.

I know politics gets ugly, but I genuinely think people in Coweta should read the reporting surrounding county commission candidate Tim Ryan.

The articles include documented school records, student complaints, parent complaints, disciplinary actions, and investigations tied to alleged conduct involving middle school girls during his time in schools.

What honestly stuck with me most was not even the politics. It was reading that some of these girls are now older teenagers and are having to drive around seeing campaign signs with the name of someone they say made them uncomfortable as children plastered all over the county.

People can argue over development, zoning, taxes, or political parties all day long. But I do think voters should be fully informed about who they are putting into positions of power, especially when there are years of documented concerns involving students and professional boundaries.

At the very least, those former students deserved to be taken seriously.

Stopping for a night.

Hey y'all! As the title says, my family and I will be stopping in town tonight coming down from TN (Hi, neighbors!). I would love some recommendations from locals.

Any hotels to avoid?

What Restaurants do yall recommend? Preferably something locally owned and family friendly.

Would also love to know if there are any cafes or restaurants that serve a good breakfast/brunch. Again, locally owned is our preference, but understand if that isn't an option.

Are there any nice parks with toddler friendly playgrounds or a similar place where our toddler can run around and play?

My husband is interested in fishing, so if there is a local sports shop I'm sure he'd love to stop by.

I love reading. Are there any used bookstores in town?

I appreciate y'alls input!

Edit: Thank y'all so much for all of your input! We'll definitely be strolling downtown tonight and tomorrow. We love festivals, so we're excited that we'll be able to walk around and check out the Berry & Bloom festival tomorrow. Cheers!

Motorcycle road test location?

I know they stopped doing the road test at the Newnan location. They said it was too hard to keep changing the cones around. So where do they do the road test for motorcycles now?

Thanks in advance!

Church daycares

New to the area and looking for care for our 3.5, almost 4 year old. Are there any churches that offer daycare in the area? I've reached out to the daycare centers but sometimes the church school offerings are harder to find unless you know what to look for. TIA

Local writing groups

Are there any local writing groups here in newnan? Preferably writing fantasy. Mostly looking for a group that can keep each other accountable so we can actually finish what we are writing. Also, sharing what we are working on, giving feedback, etc.

Moving to West Georgia

Hey hey,

There is a strong likelihood I will be moving to Wet Georgia, around the LaGrange area for an academic position. I am coming from the Shoals area of Alabama.

I am wondering how life is in this area. It felt far more developed/suburban when I visited, which I was surprised about. But I am sure that is because the distance to Atlanta, which I am very excited about being so close given my upbringing in major US cities. I am a alitle hesitant just because I am single/gay, but I really enjoyed my interview and visit.

I also know that this is the r/newnan, but I will probably live in LaGrange area to be close to work. But I also some some people live in Newnan and commute.

Any thoughts on the area is much appreciated!

How much does it cost to remove a relatively small, 6 inch thick, 20ft tall pine tree?

Must be licensed and insured. And would it be cheaper to do it in fall/ winter?
