Sentra Limp mode/hesitation/jerk

Making this post to help someone out because there is little to no info on this online.

My 2020 Sentra went into a hard limp mode at 71,000 km, had slow acceleration, no traction control/abs/collision warning and completely died/stalled out at idle at a red light. Months prior, the car would jerk at low speeds and RPM would lightly fluctuate at idle but no code.

This week I got codes P0404, P044C, P044E, and eventually P0101.

This is a common failure on these Sentra/altima and apparently new gen Rogues as well.

The dealer wanted $1653 to fix it. I pulled the EGR valve myself in 10 min and it looked good and moved freely, but the internal electronics were fried.

I had my engine bay detailed once and since this connector is top-facing, water probably leaked into it and shorted it out over time.

I could've got it repaired from a circuit board repair company for $90, but I just opted to buy a brand new EGR valve assembly for $350 and swapped it myself. Fixed the limp mode and the high RPM cutout instantly.

Hope this helps

2024 Sentra S clunk noise shop couldn’t figure out the issue

This car has 30k miles clean title. It makes a clunk noise whenever I hit any type of speed bump or certain incline. Took it to a shop they tried replacing the sway bar links no fix. They told me 3 master mechanics looked at it and couldn’t figure it out. Anyone ever had this issue?

I hate this car (2025)

I was told by one shop that my transmission is going out. I take it to another dealer, and of course they cannot duplicate anything. The car drives sluggish and even more sluggish with the AC on. I can barely accelerate at times. There is no way this is normal, and they keep bringing up this stupid CVT transmission to try and make it normal. Every time I go to the dealer they cannot duplicate anything, almost like they don’t want to. I am lost on what to do, I did not buy a brand new car to have to deal with this.

Help with spare tire

Just bought my dude a new Sentra. Not too happy as I was unaware that it did not come with a spare tire. Only the fix a flat kit. Which sometimes does you no good depending on the type or tire damage done. Anybody know of an aftermarket spare tire kit that fits a 2026? If not, even anyone who knows where to get a steel wheel that fits the car and I can get a tire put on it. Thanks! I think it is a SV. It’s pretty well equipped and I’m impressed with the features like the heated seats and steering wheels along with a sunroof. I wanted it in white but my husband wanted black. Looks great clean but hard to keep it that way!!!

Heat Wave!! AC question

I got a ‘26 Sentra and with these 2 day heat dome, I find my ac in my car to be underpowered. Unless I have the inside circulation option on, the air temp is cool at best. Maybe this is normal for the heat, I understand but curious if others find it underwhelming.

Looking for coilovers for my b16 sentra 2011 2.0 S

As the title says im looking for some coilovers. Ive heard bc racing are goods ones but they are out of my price range right now. So I was wondering if there are any others worth getting. I was looking at some from maxpeedingrods and also looking at the Rev9 Hyper Street II Coilovers. Want to know everyone's opinions and seeing what I should do. Also will ask if I need to also change anything else on the car while I do the coilovers. Anything I should know is greatly appreciated.

Honest opinion. Yay or nay on this front lip before I properly secure it to my car.

Just doing a test fitting with double sided tape and before I screw it in was wondering what y’all think.

My car is making a terrible noise

I drive a 2022 Nissan Sentra with about 67,000 miles. A few weeks ago I heard this noise when I slowed down. I stopped driving it till we could replace the brakes cause they needed to be done and I thought it was the source of the noise. We replaced the brakes this weekend and they’re just fine, but the noise is still there. I also notice it when I hit a bump. Could it be my suspension? Has anyone experienced this before?

Coil-overs ?

Hey everyone I have a 21 model Sentra, really wanting to throw some aesthetic mods to it. Plan on wrapping it soon and wanna grab some aftermarket rims. Really digging this look attached. Looking for good recommendations on coilovers that won’t sacrifice all the ride comfort

Car totaled

My 22 day old Nissan Sentra SV was totaled today. A special driver decided to run a red light going well over the speed limit. I am perfectly okay am a little sore but wtf. I am 20 years old and spent the last 2 years saving for a beautiful ride all for it to be ruined.

New car? - Can’t decide.

Hi

I have a 2014 Nissan Altima SL 122,000 miles but lately it is sluggish going up hills and makes a grinding noise when driving and even when stopped at red lights in drive. Based on its reputation for bad CVTs I finally decided to look for a new car. I’m between the following:

  1. Nissan Sentra - affordable, nice look, can get upgraded interior.

  2. Toyota Corolla - great mpg. Great reputation for reliability.

  3. Toyota Camry - like the look and size. Great mpg for the size of the car. Reliability reputation as well.

Any thoughts? I’m leaning towards the Sentra since
It’s cheaper but worried about reliability issues with Nissan based on the cvt history.

Also leaning towards the Camry as I love the look and the mpg for what you get.

Nissan Sentra for a rental

My rental shop near me has hardly any cars besides large vans which I do not need. My current rental is a Mitsubishi which I'm reading everywhere is a death trap. Apparently the only other car they have that's a sedan is a Nissan Sentra, I'm hoping that this is safer than the Mitsubishi. Any advice? I'm probably going to take it because just looking at the Mitsubishi is making my hair stand up. The bumpers are made of Tupperware.

Nissan Sentra 2026 Thoughts?

I bought this SV model about 4 months ago and have driven previous models and I’m definitely impressed on Nissan maximizing the cabin. It gives me Altima interior vibes but I wish they did put the Altima engine in that would’ve been dope. These are my modifications so far on the car just cosmetic, later on I plan to buy a cold air intake, NISMO exhaust and NISMO bronze rims. I do plan on buying a Z later on as well. Does anyone plan on buying a new gen Sentra?

Any way on hiding the Nissan logo in the front of the '26 Sentra?

I'm in the process of blacking out my 2026 Sentra, I already covered the chrome line in the front of the vehicle and I'm wondering if there's a way to cover the Nissan logo. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know.
