Which new Nook would you buy, if any? Or would an android tablet be better? My old Nook is retired and I lost all my purchases by a Factory reset. I have quite a few books and don't want to lose them. It is really annoying though. TIA
Hey all,
Anyone know if it's possible to bypass B&N registration / out-of-box-experience (oobe) on the Nook Glow Light 4 Plus?
I've tried all the tricks I read online (Vol UP + tap lower right, tap on N and slide across top, etc) but no 'diag' menu pops up.
I HAVE been able to get into the EasterEgg menu (alternating taps top left / top right) and found instructions on how to enable ADB with the corresponding password and then root the device with Magisk (which I haven't done but can do) but didn't see how to bypass oobe even if the device is rooted.
Suggestions appreciated.
Im not too worried about losing my books from Amazon because I backed up everything to Calibre. But I do have one question. Why don’t my sideloaded books that are on my nook do not show up on the nook iOS app?
Hi everyone! I am a long time kindle user and found a nook glowlight 4 at a garage sale for ten bucks, and I figured why not grab it! However, the ease of the kindle has me spoiled and idk what all you can do with a nook, if that makes sense. I do a lot of ARC reviewing through NetGalley and have a Kindle Unlimited subscription.
Disclaimer: I am not expecting the nook to do what my kindle does entirely, or to replace it -- I plan to use both. There are definitely times that Kindle doesn't have a book on KU, or there's a book I was planning to purchase anyways, so I am completely okay with only being able to use my Nook if I purchase a book! Just wanting to see what everyone does and play around with it!
can someone send me or tell me where to get it? I did a reset on my tablet and lost my purchases from there but have them on my android phone nook app just don't know how to get them from the app on my phone to my pc. Thanks so much, Unhappy Nook owner
After eyeing the discontinued pearl pink Nook Glowlight 4 for some time, I finally got my hands on a secondhand one and I’M IN LOVE. 😍 The physical buttons are EVERYTHING. I have a Kindle PW Signature edition but had been looking to move away from Amazon. I love that the Nook is smaller, lighter, AND has the buttons that I’ve been sorely missing. Yeah the battery life isn’t as good and Nook software isn’t as fast but I don’t care. The reading experience makes up for the shortcomings. Sideloading my downloaded stuff from Calibre was a breeze. Eventually I will probably root it so I can access the full memory for sideloading. Overall, I’m really happy with it!
How can I get my b&n books downloaded on my computer to transfer to my NookHD*+ that won't connect to the internet? I have the Nook app on my Android phone if that works better. Do I need to just buy a new one? I don't understand why they retired some and had them quit working. I am very frustrated. Thanks for the help.
What title says. I've transferred multiple books onto my Nook Glowlight 4 Plus before this, but now the Nook is unrecognizable on multiple computers and using multiple cables. Simply no folder is created. I can't find any advice on this that is newer than 2017. Can someone please help me?
I've tried restarting the Nook and the computers...I don't know why it quit working all of the sudden. This just kills my motivation for reading when I can't even transfer the books I buy to the damn device.
Please, help.
Barnes and Noble has not released an e-Reader e-ink device since 2023.
For me, I always say I don't need another eReader, but I would probably purchase one without hesitation if:
I feel like the e-ink color wave could be over by the time NOOK enters the field. In my opinion, Amazon's Kindle has the best color e-ink screen implementation, the problem is that it's very expensive. And ultimately, not as clear as black-and-white e-ink screens. Still, all of their ColorSoft devices blow Kobo, PocketBook and ONYX out of the water. I'd hate to see NOOK enter the space and just generate pointless devices no one wants.
I recently got a Nook Color for like $20 on Ebay to read comics on. I sideload files on a Nook Glowlight 3 so I'm familiar with the process, but the nook color isn't being recognized by my PC at all. The cable is fine, I have 3 different cables and they all work with other devices. I've had trouble charging the nook color but it's fully charged this morning and I immediately plugged it into my computer, same cord, to sideload files. Computer does not think there is anything connected. I'm (unfortunately) on Windows 11 and I've heard that newer software refuses to recognize old nooks (and this is 1.4.3 software). Since I don't have an older computer I can use, is there another way I can force my PC to recognize the nook? An adaptor or something? It's not a lot of money I spent but I'd love to be able to read Jojos in color :(
just want to access my purchases. Not get new ones. it is a Nook HD+
I just got a Nook, and the super sweet girl at B&N that essentially car-salesmaned me into it was talking about how she loves using hers with a page turner. Which page turners do you guys use? I don’t mind using Amazon, I just want to make sure it actually works for the Nook!
And if there’s any other accessories you guys love using, for reading on a plane or at home, I’d appreciate your suggestions! ❤️
