I happened to be outside and looking up during the Gannon storm, which peaked at Kp 9 (G5 storm). In hindsight, I wish I had stayed up all night; the aurora only showed up silver to the eye (but colorful in photos), and I suspect I could have seen some dazzling color if I'd been out at a different time.
Tonight's forecast shows a peak of Kp 5. It should be visible to northern latitudes but unlikely to show up like this. It's worth a walk outside nonetheless!
From last night (5-15/16) in northern Minnesota, USA. What a beautiful display!

Weird white streak like a gigantic comet tail (I’m in no way suggesting it could be a comet tail). When I went outside it was right overhead and a few minutes later it had migrated to northern horizon slowly. No dancing, no flickering, no other lights. It must be weird aurora, yeah?
Wife and I saw this over Sister Bay Wisconsin tonight. Around 11:15pm. The white chevron was very visible overhead, it was huge and slowly moved north keeping its shape and then it started changing colors as it went down over the horizon. It was absolutely breathtaking. We could see with our naked eyes. Used iPhones to take photos.
