Glen Eden first visit review
Of all the nudist places I've been to, and more visits to come very soon, Glen Eden has jumped to the top of my favorites list. This place has everything you could want in a nudist resort and more. During my recent weeklong Saturday to Saturday stay it was one of the best memories so far this year.
As soon as I got off the plane I hightailed it straight to GE where they had my reservation ready. I have to hand it to the staff, especially V, who was kind enough to let me stay overnight even as a first timer on property. This is against their policy but I was fortunately able to get a room. After my paperwork and tour which was the correct length thanks to K, I set off to find my room.
The small room I reserved for the week was perfect for just me visiting. It's one of the triplexes inside of a single wide with just enough room for a bed, mini fridge, and TV. But since I was there for the World Cup and visiting family in the area, that's all I need. Honestly I think more resorts should have these setups for singles and couples who just need a bed to rest when not partying it up. I noticed they have newer rental rooms also and so many spots for RVs that it looks like a great place to run to for snow birds
Then for the rest of the week I took everything GE had to offer. First off GE has one of the best pool setups besides Cypress Cove or Oaklake Trails that I've visited. The main pool is the focal point. Large enough for probably 100 people to fit comfortably in. Then there's an activity pool for water volleyball and water aerobics. Then you have a conversation pool perfect in length and depth. Next is a large hot tub that I feel is the best one I've experienced so far. It can easily fit 20 people and maybe 30 if you get in real close. And lastly there's an indoor pool that was getting worked on during my whole stay that I didn't get to experience. Not only was there a pool for whatever you liked but they were all HEATED too! You honestly can't beat that!
They also have a hiking trail which is where I took the picture. There are both nude and non-nude trails but I stuck to the nude part which was very challenging even for me. I did it nearly every day without encountering any wildlife but lizards and rabbits.
The restaurant on site was great. I had a few meals there for breakfast and lunch. Both had solid options and portions for anyone. My only gripe was that it was a little more expensive than I was expecting. Then they have a great selection of beer and wine unlike other places besides the resorts I've been to in Florida. If you really wanted to not bring any food and only eat and drink from GE you wouldn't be bored for a week.
Some other amenities I saw that were all in great shape and certainly kept up were the pickleball courts, tennis courts, a chipping golfing course, gym and outdoor gym, and plenty of showers and bathrooms for everyone.
The one neat thing I stumbled upon during my daily morning hikes/walks was the chapel area on the hill overlooking the resort. I was glad to walk through and observe all the awesome pictures snd momentos of past members honored at this hilltop. It also made me put a lot of these visits in perspective that were here to enjoy the nudist recreation, but it's really the community driven aspects that keep us coming back again and again.
And its really the GE community that I appreciate a lot during my visit. For the entire week I felt welcomed by everyone, which as a solo male traveler often it is not always chill. I met plenty of cool members and day visitors during the many events like the DJ dances on Saturdays to playing Bunco for the first time, which I got 5 during that game, or while playing the most intense game of water volleyball I ever had.
There's 3X more stuff I could say about GE with all of it positive. It's a great place if it's your first nudist trip or you're a regular. Its welcoming if you're young or old and even for members of the BIPOC community. If I lived in the SoCal region I would be a member in a heartbeat. And like the places in Florida I think Glen Eden is worth traveling to anytime of the year from anywhere across the country.
