making friends + dating?
are there any groups to make vegan friends or date fellow vegans? even vegetarians, lol. i’m (f25) getting tired of not having many people to connect with in this way. preferably in brooklyn and people in their 20s!

planning a trip to NYC in the fall for the first time since i’ve gone vegan. i’m looking for **every possible recommendation** (manhattan mostly)** **i could get because i know new york is super friendly and i wanna make the most out of it by trying things that i don’t have here.
Planted Culture Vegan Market was originally scheduled for Thursday (August 20th), but has been rescheduled for Friday (August 21) due to expected thunderstorms on Thursday.
Same time of day, same place: 625 Atlantic Ave. (across from Barclay's) 4 to 9 PM.
Super gross article about the failing businesses of Elle Barton. She formerly owned Le Petit Monstre (2 locations) Izzy Rose, and Dreamery. As we all know, all are closed except for Izzy Rose.
Izzy Rose doesn’t sell vegan items (I can speak from experience- I’ve been and there were not any vegan items). They sell both dairy and meat products.
She’s also no longer vegan, and in the article she says “‘Everything is so expensive, and also people don’t care anymore,’ she said matter of factly. ‘Unfortunately, they don’t care about climate change. They don’t care about sustainability. They don’t care about their footprint. They care about: how convenient is my life?’”
It sounds like she’s speaking from her own perspective and projecting onto neighborhood. I care about sustainability and climate change. I want food that doesn’t harm animals and the planet.
where are there vegan croissants in Brooklyn ? after the bakery that yough was sourcing from closed i am in search 🥀
Hi all, does anyone have any breakfast recommendations around Midtown early on a Friday? Our train arrives around 9 AM, but all the restaurants I've been looking at seem to open around 11 AM or later, and we'll be hungry before that. We'd prefer fully vegan spots if possible (have had some bad experiences with cross-contamination and we have allergies as well). Thanks!
Hello friends! A while back I saw something about vegan soft serve at some Carvel locations. I called a few of them and some didn't know what I was talking about, haha. I'm in Queens (Forest Hills) but willing to travel. Any recently verified Carvel locations?? Thanks!
Hi Guys!
We're an indian meal delivery business that serves lunch and dinner across Downtown Brooklyn, Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Bed-stuy and Bushwick.
One of our co-founders is vegan and many of our friends are, so we make sure to do at least 1/2 Vegan options each week!
Some of the favorites are our Jackfruit Biryani, Bombay Club, and Tofu Coconut Moilee.
I ask our new customers how they heard about us and a few have said from this very reddit so I thought I'd post, say thank you to whoever all has shared and spread the word to help serve our Vegan community in NYC!
Thursday is Vegan this week for delivery
Friday is Vegan this week for pick up at our MacCarren Park, Greenpoint pop-up!
you can
order at

Thanks!
Wanted to eat ramen at an all vegan place and was excited to hear about this place. Went for lunch today and was blown away. Usually the influencers hype up places and I don’t always agree but this is place is exceptional
Had sushi, ramen and Mac and cheese. All were delicious but the ramen was the star of the show. Can’t wait for the cold weathe so I can eat more ramen.
have been on a vegan caesar kick this summer! so far i’ve tried: garden carver, orchard grocer, seitan’s helper, gertie, & slutty vegan. all were delicious, my current favorite is probably orchard grocer, although gertie’s is also super creative and a little different than usual (uses broccoli in the salad and chips in lieu of croutons! also available on a bialy😍). slutty vegan’s comes with both ranch and caesar dressing as well as bacon, so i’d recommend them if you’re looking for a more rich option, also those fries!!
curious if there’s any other spots i should add to my list? what are y’all’s favorite spots in the city for a vegan caesar fix?
ETA: to whoever keeps downvoting all the orchard grocer comments, i don’t think it is that serious🙏 i am just grateful to live in a city where we have so many options that i’m even able to make a post like this!!
Spicy Moon’s website states they will be opening in Brooklyn soon. A friend said they’re opening in Fort Greene. Does anyone know where in Fort Greene, assuming that’s the neighborhood where we’ll finally get a Spicy Moon in Brooklyn?
ETA: I think it’s more likely that it’s opening on Flushing in Bed-Stuy. I looked up the LLCs used by Spicy Moon on the Dept. of State’s website: https://apps.dos.ny.gov/publicInquiry/EntityListDisplay
20X HOSPITALITY AT BOWERY LLC’s service address is the same as the Bowery Spicy Moon (265 Bowery). 20X HOSPITALITY AT LONG ISLAND CITY LLC’s service address is at 4504 Pearson St. 20X HOSPITALITY BROOKLYN LLC’s service address is at 676 Flushing Ave.
go give it some love before it closes in a month. at least the other locations will remain open.
I know it’s probably confirmation bias, but why does it seem like the best vegan restaurants always close while the mediocre ones stay open?
OLDSCHOOL is a 100% vegan and 100% gluten-free coffee shop just one block from the beach in the Rockaways. It opened back in May and seems to be doing really well with the locals.
There were just two pastries when I went: a cookie and a muffin, but they were excellent and made in-house. Incredibly moist, you’d never know they were gluten-free.
NOTE: The cafe doesn’t offer ANY disposable to-go cups, plates, or utensils. Just glassware. You either stay there to consume using their glasses and plates or you have to bring your own reusable cups / containers / etc. (The pastries could be carried with no problem, but there’s no way to take a drink to go.)
All the music is from a record player behind the counter.
The owner is a lifelong vegan who recently went gluten-free. She is planning to open a live music venue in the back and add more prepared foods.
Really cool spot - if you’re out at the beach, pop in! She plans to stay open after the summer season.
