Hello everybody i am trying to mod the OG oblivion on linux and obse just refuses to work on anything other then the Heroic launcher for some reason.
I am using the GOG version of the game and i tried Lutris first and it didn't work then i switched to Heroic and everything worked fine, but i don't like heroic very much so i also tried to use umu laucher to launch the game and that doesn't work obse displays an error saying it can't find Oblivion.exe.
Does anybody know what the heroic launcher is doing that allows the obse to run properly?
There's a mod I had ages ago that added special Oblivion gates with a skeleton boss inside that dropped a special weapon, I can't remember the name of the mod or even what the weapons were exactly but they were far eastern themed I think, does anyone happen to have any ideas as to what this mod was?
EDIT: To expand on this, I remember the gates lead to a single platform with the skeleton boss, it was not an overhaul or anything for Oblivion gates, it just added these skeleton boss gates that held these custom weapons. The skeletons may have used the skeletal Blades model, I don't remember.
Im trying to make a sky mod for og oblivion, I have no idea what to do or where to start and I know it sounds dumb but I was hoping to get some help from people with actual experience.
So, I've recently switched to linux and installed oblivion for a bit of nostalgia and everything has worked well except this mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/52143) . I'm using the gog, goty deluxe version running through the heroic games launcher. I don't have many mods installed but they all seem to be working. I do have obse setup and it is running that and not the regular launcher.
The mod page says the sheath weapon button should de-nock but it doesn't work even though the button works normally to draw and sheath the weapon.
Any suggestions for things to try to make it work?

Quick intro: I'm part of ReadyM, a small team building OblivionMP - basically a multiplayer ecosystem for Oblivion Remastered. Some of you might have heard of it, some not. :)
We just dropped our 4th trailer and this felt like the right place to share it.
Everything in the video is real - live recordings and running across clients: synced stealth and invisibility, spell combat in real time, swimming, alchemy replicating to everyone, and runtime dialogue through our SDK. We are building a sandbox for you with no main storyline. The idea is server owners and modders shape their own Cyrodiil. Still pre-alpha but the public alpha is coming together in the next few weeks. Would love to hear what you think, happy to answer anything.
I love old Bethesda games such as fallout 3 and nv, Skyrim and the such so I know what I’m getting into in a way. The question really is, does the remaster make playing a modded version of the original redundant? Or is the original with mods still a better experience? Og is significantly cheaper and from what I’ve seen goes on sale more. I have a 4070 super with a ryzen 9 7900x so I can comfortably run either. Any help is greatly appreciated!
I saw some posts about Vortex being more reliable for the the remastered than it was at launch, so I went to try it...and they are just straight up lying. Even if you remove every mod, have no mods at all, repair the files, and try to launch the game unmodded with vortex it break unreal engine. It doesn't just stop that 1 launch, it makes it so the game has to be repaired in steam before steam can even launch it...and again, that is without a single mod installed. Just save yourself the time and energy and don't even bother with it.

but i have recently been playing this mod so i do not know if my fix breaks anything this is the second time i actually do a mod.
I am playing A Painted World modlist on the original Oblivion version and everything works and plays well but I dread going into a dialog with the NPC's added with Gambler's of Cyrodiil. I get into a dialog loop that goes on and on until you win. There is no option to leave during that game dialog which forces me to reload the last save as even if you try to get the right answer it never is right so it becomes a endless loop. (I think you also have to obtain dice from a merchant for this mod, but I am still able to play regardless.)
The problem is I disabled this mod, but now I have realized when opening the game the bashed patch requires the mod I removed. Is there any way I can safely avoid this problem in game, or is there a way I can edit this patch file myself? (I do not have experience with modding Oblivion specifically so I used a premade modlist and this turned out to be perfect for me and it runs well. I just cannot get stuck in that loop anymore.)
I am stuck at the moment trying to figure this out, but after looking into it I am just more confused on how to fix it.
