This brooch always reminds me of the song, "Money, Money" from the film Cabaret (1972) sung by Liza Minelli and Joel Gray, ... "a mark, a buck, a yen or a pound, is all that makes the world go around, it makes the world go round. Money, money, money, money..."
A huge vintage 1940s handmade sterling silver Piggy Bank & Coins brooch pin designed by Margot for Los Castillo in Taxco. One of her earliest designs from while she was still married to Antonio Castillo in the 1940s, and certainly one of her more appealing and whimsical designs from that period! Measures 4" tall by 2-3/4" wide, and weighs a hefty 34.8 grams total. Marked at back as shown, "Los Castillo Taxco Sterling Made in Mexico" and design number "528". Could also be worn as a pendant with a slip-on pin stem converter. A fantastic piece!
