What concert tickets USED TO COST!

I saved a lot - not nearly all - off my old concert ticket stubs from the late 70s through the 80s and here is a list of the concerts and the prices of what I could find:

Bruce Springsteen at Red Rocks, Morrison, CO August 16th, 1981 $13.75. It rained hard for a bit but the band never quit!

Allman Brothers Band Red Rocks August 10th, 1980. $10.45 Great concert!

Frank Zappa Boulder, CO April 10th, 1980 $8.00. Fantastic concert and the very first ever concert at what then was the brand new CU Events Center.

Santana at the Paolo Soleri in Santa Fe, NM October 8th, 1988 $17.50. I mean, it was Santana and the Paolo Soleri was a great outdoor venue.

The Who Madison Square Garden, NYC September 13th, 1979 $12.50. One of my life's regrets is never getting to see the Who with Keith Moon.

Colorado Sunday Folsom Field, Boulder CO $11.00. This is a full afternoon and evening with Country Joe, Bob Welch, Poco, the Doobie Brothers, and topped by Boston.

The Who October 17th. 1982 Folsom Field $16.00. John Mellancamp/Cougar was the opening act and got booed for Jack and Diane.

Yes at the Tingley Collesium in Albuquerque, NM March 31st, 1984 $13.00. I actually saw Yes several times in NYC, New Jersey, and Santa Fe, NM.

Lots of other concerts in those days but these are ticket stubs I still had.

Before Everything Went Digital

Does anyone remember flying with paper airplane tickets? The carbon copies, travel agencies, all of these things are practically obsolete!

Concert ticket stubs, 1967-1973. I went to all except the Youngbloods (car trouble)

Personal faves for me were Pete Seeger, Donovan (from 1967, the height of flower power) , Moby Grape and Springsteen from 1973. Only our student concert coordinator, who was from Jersey, knew who Bruce was, and he spent the week before the show going from dorm to dorm insisting that this would be the best $3 we ever spent. He was correct.

Vs. drops 10/19/1993

Just ran across this ATM receipt from 1993. I grabbed some cash to buy Vs. at midnight. I remember writing the time and temp as a nod to the opening cards in the Jeremy video. Looks like it was a 45 min wait until my gf and I could run to the car and experience Go for the first time. And yes I got change from the $10.

Found in a used book

I bought a used copy of Thinner by Stephen King at my favorite secondhand bookstore the other day and found this library receipt from 2013. This library is in Arizona. I live in Kansas.

Chattanooga Choo Choo! July 1915!

Picked up a nice box of old photos and ephemera at an estate sale and found this beauty of a ticket inside!
