Astra G Convertible Turbo story

Basically bought it with the half engine being apart.

The pre-owner tought the cylinder head was done and is pressing water into the burning room. I rebuilt the cylinder heads valves, renewed the valve stem seals, regrounded the valves, new headgasket etc... everything was in the car for that.

Actual problem was the turbo, it was very worn out and after building up some boost it pressed oil into the exhaust side which seemed to be white (prob why he thought, that the head/headgasket is done for), so i rebuilt the turbo for 140€

Costs:

Car: 750

Wheels (sold): -360

Turbo: 140

Strut mounts: 30

Tüv: 160

Penta wheels: 130

Spare wheel: 90

6x Tires: 300

boost regulator: 30

Boost pipe: 50

ignition coil: 70

Spark plugs: 50

Catless pre downpipe: 60

Software: 50€

Probably forgot something

Cost are about 1600-2000€

Details:

Roof works

No engine light, full power

~230hp Z20let stage 1

Bbs rx 241 Vectra i500 wheels (for sale rn)

2006 Opel astra gasoline 13.2V when driving

Hey, shouldn’t my voltage when driving be higher? It fluctuates between 13.0-13.2 when driving… little bumps or turns makes it drop to 13.0-13.1. I thought it should be like 14? Please assist.

New battery last year as well.

Garage told me twice not to worry about my Astra revving itself wild on a cold start… now the check engine light played peekaboo. Help?

My 2006 Vauxhall/Opel Astra H 1.8 automatic revs on its own after a cold start, bouncing between 1,000 and 2,500 rpm for about 90 seconds. After that, it runs perfectly fine. This has been happening for a few months now, mostly during the warmer UK weather. I’ve taken it to the garage twice, had diagnostics run, and both times they said not to worry, apparently, some rev fluctuation on cold starts is normal for an older car, especially between 1,000–2,000 rpm. So I let it go.

But yesterday, after a 30-minute morning drive (with the usual revving), I parked for three hours, then started the car again, no revving this time, since it wasn’t a cold start but the check engine light came on. I stopped after about 5 minutes and called the garage to book it in. When I restarted the car after that call, the light had turned off. Now I’m second-guessing whether I even need the appointment. It’ll cost around £50 for another diagnostic, but without the warning light on, I feel like I’m just going back with the same revving issue they’ve already told me to ignore twice.

Does anyone have any idea what might actually be going on?

Buying a insignia

Hello,

Comming from an volvo s40 ( i think the engine is too light for me) my interest is to buy an insignia

I drive almost only highway trips and the s40 is to light and so loud

So i find rhe insignia a beautiful model

Im torn between 2 versions

The models between 2017-2020 or the models 2020 and later

My budget is approx 16k and 18 euros for the older models offcourse they are older more mileage but cheaper

What are in youre opinion the pros and cons between the 2? And what important things should i pay attention to?

Thanx in advance!

Missing grille frame Opel Corsa D OPC from 2009.

Hello everyone, the title is pretty straightforward.
I recently bought an Opel Corsa D OPC from 2009, which has the grille frame missing… I’ve been searching for days but to no avail… Only option I have is to get an aftermarket grille, which in my opinion looks terrible. I was hoping you guys could help me out with some information. I’m situated in the Netherlands.

Thanks in advance!

650 km in less then 24 hours

I was on a quick trip with my Turbo Opel after he got a little issues because he got to much wrong airlow, my EVAP valve was broken. After the fix, the drive was amazing relaxing and he got the Power like before.

I really like the Look between sporty and family, also hope this car will be on my side for a loooong time. Next step is Oil Change in the end of the month😎

Thanks for reading 🤪

The future of the Astra Sports Tourer /estate /wagon

source at carscoops.com

Wagons are quietly leaving the European market, but a few automakers see them as a way to stand apart from the endless run of hatchbacks and SUVs. Opel looks to be one of them. The Stellantis brand is reworking the recipe for the next-generation Astra, walking away from the familiar hatchback shape while making clear the estate isn’t going anywhere.

The current Astra landed in 2021 as a close relative of the Peugeot 308, and both cars picked up mid-lifecycle updates in late 2025 to keep pace with the VW Golf and Toyota Corolla. A successor is already locked in, though, with Opel confirming it will arrive before the decade is out.

The Astra has carried hatchback and estate bodies since the original showed up 35 years ago, long after sedans, coupes, and convertibles fell off the roster. The next one could be the car that finally breaks that pattern, and it starts with the shape buyers have always taken for granted.

Our colleagues from Auto Express spoke with Opel CEO, Florian Huettl, asking him whether the compact hatchback needs to evolve. His answer left the door open. “It doesn’t mean necessarily that the new Astra is a traditional hatchback,” he said.

Surprisingly, the CEO added: “I can tell you that there will be a station wagon, because that’s what our home market in Germany requires, and this is what we will serve” revealing that interior space will be one of the focus points for the next generation.

The move cuts against the grain of what some mainstream rivals are doing right now. Just last week, the President and CEO of Hyundai Europe came close to confirming the death of the i30 Wagon, with the company steering its R&D money toward higher-margin SUVs instead.

The next Astra will ride on the new STLA One architecture. Huettl said the car will “certainly be a BEV,” though the platform handles more than electric power, which is why Opel is “currently looking at the right calibration of the powertrain offer.”

Despite the recent layoffs from its R&D facilities at the Russelsheim headquarters, the new Astra will be manufactured at the same plant, backed by fresh investment.

A major Astra makeover isn’t the next thing on the calendar, though. Opel has more new models coming first, starting with a new generation of the smaller Corsa expected in 2027, followed by a Leapmotor-based compact SUV and a fresh Mokka. And unlike Stellantis stablemates Citroen and Fiat, both busy with the 2CV and the next Pandina as budget EVs, Opel isn’t chasing that segment.

2016 Insignia USB/Android problem

The USB located in the middle armrest does not connect my phone to the multimedia. When I pick the projection option, nothing happens (it does charge my phone tho) and error is shown. Is this fixable?

I did pick Android from the settings of the multimedia. But no luck, no matter what I connect it just doesn't project. Is it because the car is 10 years older than my phone? Any ideas? Is there a way to update the firmware at home?

I thought of disconnecting the car battery but this will mean I'll probably lose some information like kilometre records and etc. If nothing works, this is my last resort.

research

Hello everyone,
I’m trying to find my father’s old 1994 Opel Calibra 2.0 16V (C20XE). It may be a long shot, but I hope someone might recognize it or know where it ended up.
The car was originally registered in Turin, Italy, and later re-registered in Treviso, Italy. Around 2008/2009, it was sold to a dealer for export, so it most likely left Italy and received a new registration in another country.
This car means a lot to my family. I was only 5 or 6 years old when it was sold, and one of my dreams is to either find the original car or, if that’s impossible, build an exact replica as a surprise for my father.
Here are the details I remember:
1994 Opel Calibra
2.0 16V (C20XE)
Manual transmission
Air conditioning
No sunroof
Originally dark green, later repainted Subaru Blue
Beige leather interior
front bumper and side skirts from platinum mod body kit
Renault 19 rear spoiler
BMW E36 M3-style mirrors
Toyota Celica Carlos Sainz hood scoop
Chrome/Lexus-style rear lights
Original Opel wheels with the inside of the spokes painted blue
Reinforced rear suspension with rear spacers
I still have several old photos of the car (attached).
If anyone remembers seeing this Calibra at a meeting, in a magazine, on an old forum, or if you think you’ve seen it in your country, I would be incredibly grateful for any information.
Even the smallest clue could help.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this.

PS: If you know any old Opel Calibra owners or clubs, please feel free to share this post. I’d really appreciate it.

Sleutel niet gedetecteerd / Key not found

We own a Opel Corsa E (2021). As of recent for one of the two keys we get the message "Sleutel niet gedetecteerd" (key not found). I already replaced the key battery.

Opening and closing the doors with the key works fine. If I put the key on the left side of the steering column it will detect it and start. However this should not be needed, how can I get the key to function normal again without having to hold it against the steering column?

The other key works just fine.

Also what could be the cause of this behaviour?

All help is welcome.

Corsa Ecoflex d 2008. Won't go into 5th?

I just got this used Corsa...and past couple days it had gotten harder to go into 5th, i thought I just haven't figured out the quirks of the car yet...but yesterday I couldn't go into 5th gear AT ALL, it feels as if its blocked. I can move it to the right but it's blocked from going upward for the 5th...I read on some posts from people with the same problem that it's almost always the shift stop...I pulled up the leather and it doesn't have one? Mind you I know nothing about cars...😬
