Volan i lajsne za Passat b6

Hello everyone, is anyone interested in a wooden steering wheel with controls and matching wooden interior trim for a Passat B6?
Unfortunately, the Passat went to a new owner, and I didn't want to include these parts with the car.
If anyone is interested, I would like to sell both the steering wheel and the trim pieces.
Everything is VW OEM.
I am from EU

What would you upgrade to after a Passat B6 Variant? B8.5 vs Superb Mk3 FL vs Octavia Mk3 FL vs A4 B9.5

I’m currently driving a 2010 Passat B6 Variant 2.0 TDI CR 103 kW, 6-speed manual with around 307,000 km, and I’m very happy with it, so I’m not looking to replace it anytime soon. I’m still maintaining it properly and doing some OEM+ retrofits, and I’d like to keep it for quite a while longer.

Still, I’ve been thinking about what could eventually replace it. I do quite a lot of long-distance/motorway driving, so I’m mainly interested in comfortable and economical diesels. I’d also prefer another estate/wagon because I’ve become very used to the practicality of the Passat Variant.

The cars currently on my shortlist are:
VW Passat B8 Facelift Variant (2019–2023) — preferably a 2.0 TDI with at least 110 kW. This seems like the most natural successor to my B6 and probably the safest overall choice.
Škoda Superb Mk3 Facelift Combi (2019–2023) — preferably a 2.0 TDI with at least 110 kW. It’s probably the most practical option because of the huge interior and boot, while mechanically being closely related to the Passat B8. A stronger 2.0 TDI would also be interesting if the right car came along.
Škoda Octavia Mk3 Facelift Combi (2017–2020) — 2.0 TDI 110 kW. Cheaper, lighter and probably the most economical option. My main concern is whether the reduction in sound insulation, interior space and motorway refinement would make it feel like a downgrade after owning a Passat.
Audi A4 B9.5 Facelift Avant (2020–2024) — preferably a 2.0 TDI. This would be the premium alternative. I like the interior, build quality and overall refinement, although it’s noticeably smaller and less practical than the Passat or Superb.

So basically my shortlist is:
Passat B8 Facelift Variant 2.0 TDI
Superb Mk3 Facelift Combi 2.0 TDI
Octavia Mk3 Facelift Combi 2.0 TDI
Audi A4 B9.5 Facelift Avant 2.0 TDI

I’m deliberately keeping the comparison around roughly the same vehicle class rather than including something like an A6, which is a class above and comes with a different level of purchase and ownership costs.

At the moment I’m leaning mostly toward the Superb Mk3 Facelift or Passat B8 Facelift, with the A4 B9.5 being the more premium alternative and the Octavia being the more economical one.
For people who have owned or driven several of these, which would you choose after a Passat B6 Variant if the priorities are long-distance comfort, reliability, fuel economy, cargo space and reasonable maintenance costs?
When the time eventually comes, I’d rather buy a well-maintained example with a documented service history than prioritize the lowest possible mileage or maximum equipment.

Repairs

Not sure what to put as the title. But I was just quoted $1,450 to replace the cooling fans in my 2020 Passat SE. I am not super savvy when it comes to auto repair (I could do an oil change, but not change brakes). Is this a repair that’s easy enough for someone with general knowledge to do themselves? I keep seeing that you have to remove the front bumper, but that doesn’t make sense to me. Has anyone recently replaced this on a 2020 Passat?

Passat B6 tailgate unable to lock in position

Passat B6 tailgate latch does not mechanically secure

I’m troubleshooting the tailgate latch on my Passat B6. The tailgate no longer stays latched.

I removed the latch and tested it with the electrical connector disconnected.

The main rotary catch can be rotated into what appears to be the fully locked position. There is a separate mechanical release lever with a visible return spring and two distinct positions. When I operate the release lever, the catch opens with essentially no force, which I assume is normal and is not the issue.

The actual problem is that when the release lever is NOT operated, the catch does not appear to be securely retained in the locked position. I can move the catch out of the locked position with very little force.

My understanding is that the latch should be mechanically fail-secure: with no electrical power and the release lever at rest, the locking pawl should firmly retain the rotary catch. Electrical actuation should only release it.

So my question is: What should mechanically retain the rotary catch in the locked position on a Passat B6 tailgate latch, and what component is likely worn, broken, or incorrectly positioned if it releases with minimal force even though the release lever is at rest?

I’m particularly interested in a photo/diagram of the correct internal arrangement of the pawl, catch and spring.

whats it worth?

I have a 2013 passat TDI DSG, 180k miles, timingbelt/waterpump/trans flush done at 120k. regular oil changes with good tires and brakes. Turbo seal STB and is causing exxesive smoke after putting it in drive after about a minute. starts fine and idle's no problem. located in AZ and i already have a newer DD. cant decide whether to replace the turbo and keep or just sell as is. Would be a good candidate for somone who wants to do a delete and turbo upgrade i suppose.

Interested in buying a 17-18 Passat as a daily driver, which one is the better option?

Both are under 15k and have around 70k miles.

Option A is a 2018 Passat 2.0T SE, its already had the PCV, water pump and timing cover replaced. No fog lights and all halogen lighting, for $13k. Power leather seats, 4 speaker, that’s about it. 77k miles

Option B is a 2017 Passat 1.8T SE, this one has a ton more options than the 2018. Fog lights, chrome, led lighting, power folding mirrors, 8 speaker audio, larger wheels, random interior bits (footwell lights, power seats, etc etc). The only issue I’m having with this one is the timing cover nor water pump have ever been touched. The PCV has been replaced though. This one also has sketchy oil changes, 10k miles and there’s 2 oil cycles that went to 12k miles. This one’s listed for $12.7k at 70k miles

I’m obviously looking for something reliable but also the 2017 is tempting because it’s loaded, I do my own work to my current vehicle so if something were to dramatically fail I could always fix it if necessary (doesn’t mean I want to lol). Which is the better buy or should I keep looking? There’s a few jettas I’ve seen, though they are smaller.

2020 Volkswagen Passat control arm bushings replacement advice

Hello everyone, we have a 2020 Volkswagen Passat and the dealer recommended a bushing replacement. Would it be recommended to just replace the whole control arm assembly yourself if you have done intermediate mechanic work in the past? We are having trouble finding any decent videos about them and I’m worried about clearance issues and definitely don’t want to drop a transmission or subframe or something and would rather pay someone at that point.

Trying to calibrate minium deviation values on 1.6 tdi

I’m trying to perform the injector quantity adaptation. I follow the correct procedure, and VCDS starts running the adaptation after I press the accelerator. However, the engine doesn’t rev up—it just stays at idle with the glow plug light on. VCDS shows the procedure as “Running.”

What can be?

Used 2017 Passat 125k

Hi

Just bought a 2017 Passat 1.8t with 125k for my kid as a 1st car.

Its mint condition runs awesome and was looked after.

Starting to wonder if it was a bad choice repair wise.

What issues can I expect in the next 50k? Should I dump it for someone else?

2015 Passat radio problem

I just bought a 2015 Passat TDI and the radio (RNS-510) worrks for a minute or two and then quit for a while and come back. I tried another used radio from the junkyard but it was worse, it didn't come on at all. Will it solve the problem if I order a new one from Amazon?

Epc light

So my epc light keeps coming on long drives usually when I accelerate, so I went and scanned the codes and it came back saying that all of my cylinders are knocking and the P032F00 code.

I really don’t know what could be causing it and dont know if I should take it to a shop or if there’s anything I could do, it’s a 2016 Passat 1.8t and im pretty scared about giving an arm and a leg to stop this minor problem from happening or turning into a major problem.

Edit. The other codes wereP233600, P233700, P233800 P223900,
