Is System Requirements Lab's Can You RUN it app (Detection.exe) safe?

Hey all. So as the title says. I'm new to PC Gaming and used their benchmark website for reference. A few minutes of looking later it downloaded an .exe file called Detection. Obviously this raised some suspicioun since I'm not gonna go around clicking random .exe files on my new PC. So I checked with Virustotal, and 5 vendors flagged the file as dangerous.

It should also be known that I have never ran the program, and have only scanned it through Virustotal and deleted it immediately.

Scanned with Windows Defender and they said I was safe too.

TL;DR: Downloaded the Detection.exe file from CYRI, checked it with Virustotal, it got flagged, deleted it, scanned my PC and it said I was safe.

Just asking if my PC is really safe and there would be nothing to worry about? Thank you all.

HDMI Cable issue not outputting set refresh rate

I recently got a Lenovo Legion R27qe Gen2 and after connecting it to my laptop I'm not able to get the 200hz which its cable of, rather I'm limited to 144hz. I can't use a display port because my laptop doesn't have one and I was thinking about getting an adapter but I'm unsure about that.

To get 200hz I'm not sure if I should get a USB-C to DP cable, HDMI to HDMI or a HDMI to DP adapter.

Question about uninstalling a game on steam

So I recently bought the new legacy of the dark knight game, but for some reason when I fully downloaded it it just says it has to uninstall files, it makes no progress but says it’ll only be 6 more minutes before shooting up to 17 and repeating the process once more. And whenever I try uninstalling it and redownloading it, it just does the same thing but instead it says I only have 33 out of 37 gigs downloaded for data, when I assume it should say there’s no data downloaded at all? It seems to download normally when I switch the location to my extended storage, but I’m just confused as to why it’s doing this on my regular windows storage? I’ve tried restarting my pc but that doesn’t seem to really work. Any help would be great!

Why is my 5070 maxed out at medium settings with Forza Horizon 6?

I’m not sure what’s going on with my GPU, but this game has been running so poorly. I’m barely getting 60fps when just sitting idle in the game, with MEDIUM settings. RT is off. DLSS is on. Frame generation 2x. Something seems to be wrong. I was able to play FH5 just fine. This one I’m barely getting 30fps in the dense cities.

Edit: adding specs:

MSI B550
AMD Ryzen 7 5700X
PNY RTX 5070
32GB DDR4
NVME M2

Should I prefer buying AIO cooler or Radiator fan for Intel i714700k?

My cpu temp is going up to 88°c and the pc was restarting automatically. I got it checked and the support guy said your AIO cooler is gone and he is recommending to me to get a 360mm cooler. Existing was 240mm.

Here's a catch - my ambient temperature goes as high as 47°c here and I'm living in one of the hottest cities (probably) in the world right now. One of my friends is suggesting that I get a fan radiator because it's less mechanical so less chances of failure. Please suggest what I should get so that my cpu won't go above 70°c while gaming?

Thanks in advance!

FPS dipping to unfathomable levels seemingly at random

https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/73173954

Hi all, I will make this quick. I have a Dell G15, and the main game I usually play is Overwatch. Recently, I've been having this problem where the game will run just fine for the first 15-30 minutes, then dip in fps to single digits, before rising back to somewhere in the middle and dipping again every 3-5 minutes cyclically.

I recently got my laptop cleaned and reinstalled windows, installed the latest nvidia drivers but the problem still persists.

Any help would be much appreciated! I just want to play some overwatch after work haha :')

Where do i plug my AIO pump?

i've heard that you can plug it into CPU_FAN and CPU_OPT but there is also FAN4_PUMP at the bottom right side of the motherboard and i think that this is the "most correct" input for AIO pump but will the cable be long enough to guide it through the entire case behind the motherboard to not ruin the asthetics? what do you guys think?

5080 not detected by after repasting CPU

PC specs:

GPU: MSI NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 INSPIRE

Motherboard: ASUS B650-A ROG Strix AMD AM5 ATX Motherboard

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D

Ram: G.Skill Flare X5 Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR5-6000

Ssd: Samsung Evo 1TB

PSU: Corsair RM1000x 1000 Watt Gold ATX Power Supply

This past weekend I decided to reapply thermal paste to my CPU as the temps were higher than normal at idle. I removed the cooler, applied new paste, put the cooler back on only to find my GPU now wont power on (fans don't spin at all) or be detected by the Motherboard. Nothing else to my knowledge was touched during this process and it is not my first time applying thermal paste or taking apart my PC. The VGA light on the motherboard turns on and the GPU shows no activity. When plugging directly into the integrated graphics the PC will start up into windows just fine with no issue but still the GPU shows no activity or that its being recognized. Before this the PC was working just fine without any overt issue other than the CPU temp at idle being higher than normal.

What I tried in increasing steps of desperation.

- Checked the 12v 2x6 cable on both the GPU and PSU to ensure they are pushed in all the way and not failing to make contact with the sensor pins.

- Took off the cooler again and check to that I was not over tightening the mount when putting it back on

- Reseated the GPU

- Changed the PCIe mode to Gen 4, Gen 5, then back to Auto

- Removed the CPU to check for damage to any pins and reseated it again. (verified everything working correctly again by starting from integrated graphics)

- Used two different new 12v 2x6 cable to rule out the possibility that the cable is the issue.

- Took my 5080 to my brothers PC to test out the GPU there to see if the it has failed. It worked just fine in his machine.

- Pulled out my old 3080 off another machine and put it into this one. It worked just fine, played a few games on it to see if it would fail, it did not.

- Replaced the PSU (Super Flower 1000w) and repalced all the power cables from the new PSU in case the PSU was the issue. Made no difference

- REPLACED THE WHOLE MOTHER BOARD (ASUS B850-A ROG Strix AMD AM5 ATX). Made no difference.

At this point I'm still in the same spot. The PC is using my old 3080 with no issue and the motherboard will refuse to detect my 5080 when I try it instead. I'm at a loss now, only thing i can think of next is to flash the bios but I'm not sure that will do anything since the issue happens identically on two different motherboards and started after no change to the bios was made on the first motherboard. Maybe my case is casing some kind of short? Maybe the CPU got damaged? Seems to work fine with my 3080 so I don't see how.

I'm mostly out of ideas and could use some suggestions. As mentioned all the independent parts seem to work but just not together with the 5080.

Appreciate any suggestions.

What GPU could I put in this fella?

I have this (semi) old HP Envy desktop I had gotten from Sam's Club way back but always wanted to stuff a graphics card in it but no idea what would work. Power supply says 400w for reference.

I've been havina this issue for around a few hours

around 10 minutes before qoing down to 10 fps or

completely crashing sometimes, my laptop has a

utilisation dips below 30% every time this happens

does anvone know a solution ( i have an Asus v16

gaming, even tho it has optimus advanced there's no

way to completely disable or control the gpus

Is my friends RTX 3060TI failing?

I have helped my friend build his PC 10 months ago and now he is having issues with it.

Specs are as followed:

GPU: RTX 3060TI (second hand approximately 4 years old.)

Motherboard: Gigabyte B550M DS3H

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X

Ram: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB

Ssd: Crucial P3 Plus 500GB M.2

PSU: CX550 ATX 650W Power Supply

Problem:

When he starts playing any heavy games after about 10-20 mins the screen goes black but you can still hear the game in the background. After a minute the PC restarts on its own. With less heavy games this is not happening or rarely happens. This started happening when he moved from his old place to a new one. When we were building the pc we very carefully opened up the GPU and changed the thermal paste. I did notice a folded thermal pad so I unfolded it and placed it back in place. If this would cause an issue I suppose it wouldnt appear 10 months later.

What we already tried.

  1. Checked temperatures for both CPU and GPU and they are pretty normal right before black screen happens. CPU runs a bit warm but could this cause this issue?

  2. Installed all updates found in gigabyte center for the motherboard.

  3. Installed the latest drivers for NVidea.

  4. Installed the latest bios for the motherboard.

  5. I told my friend to unplug all cables going to and from the GPU and plug them back in.

  6. Run stress tests for CPU, GPU, Vram, Ram, and PSU but nothing failed.

Few things I would like to try when I get the chance to be there physically:

  1. Change the GPUs power cable.

  2. If possible switch the GPU and launch games that cause the issue.

  3. Change the CPU cooler to a better one that is lying around.

  4. I am considering going back to old Nvidea drivers since I read from other people new updates can cause this.

  5. Considered buying some new thermal pads to replace the old ones.

Do you have any other suggestions? At this point I am thinking that it is a faulty GPU but before buying a new one I would like to rule out all possibilities.
