Opened Bag Hills Science Cat Food

Does anyone need cat food?
My cat uses the poultry- free hills science diet dry kibble. I accidentally purchased the chicken version and it’s been opened so I can’t donate it to a shelter. I only used it today once before noticing.
Happy to give it to anyone who needs it.

St Pete Beach Customary Use: Nobody can say they weren’t told: Ordinance 2025-02

Last post: Toodles y’all

Hope you enjoyed your last trip to St. Pete Beach this season. Once this ordinance is adopted, you may be required to ask the adjacent property owner for permission to recreate on portions of the beach.
Good luck, y’all. Rights disappear when people do not act.

It does not affect me personally. I live across from a public beach access. My property value will likely increase, and I will be able to rent it for a premium.
SMH.

Long shot but - have you seen either of these billboards anywhere in Pinellas?

Hey Guys! I know this is a total long shot but figured it was worth a try.

Any chance anyone has seen either of these two billboards anywhere this weekend?

Here's the conundrum - These billboards are for my non-profit organization and they also support one of the local animal shelters in the area. Having a photo of one of these bad boys live on the billboard would be so SO incredibly special to have for both The Dog Breath Foundation non-profit's website and also for the Manatee County Bishop Animal Shelter.

That said - these billboards are live right now somewhere in Pinellas County (I've been told they're likely on 5 or 6 different boards throughout the area) but there's no way for me to know exactly where they're located because OutFront (the billboard company) randomly generates based on an algorithm of some kind and their locations and can only tell you where they appeared after the campaign is finished running, and not during. 🙃

They're digital billboards, and they're on a rotation within something like a set of 20-ish other ads, it sounds like. I'm staying 3 hours away and was going to drive out toward Pinellas to try to find and photograph one - but finding it would be like a needle in a haystack without having SOME idea of where to head. (especially with the digital rotation factor) My odds of finding and hitting it right would be like one in a million.

They're only running through this weekend, so I was hoping maybe someone in this sub might have seen one when driving around this weekend- and if so, might be able to tell me where they saw it? Would be AMAZING to get out there before they stop running Sunday night to get a photo - if I only knew exactly where to go. 😢

If anyone sees this post first and then happens to see the billboard afterward, if there's any chance in heck you can snag a photo of it with your phone (safely of course - and only if you're not driving and you can see it from a nearby parking lot or something) and DM me here on Reddit - I'd be over the moon with endless gratitude. Honestly I could even pay a small fee to someone if they were able to capture a photo they’d be willing to share.

These photos attached here aren't the actual billboards of course - just mockups that were created as previews as we were working through the designs. But these are the final designs and generally what they would look like in real life! We worked so hard on a long photoshoot day with these two shelter dogs and it would be so amazing to see the final results up on the big boards in person!!

if anyone has any insight - I'd be grateful beyond words! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Pinellas Trail bike stop signs?

I assume the small stop signs on the Pinellas Trail and other bike paths are for cyclists to stop? I'm talking about where the bike trails intersect with roads or the trail is in the middle of the road with cars passing different ways on both sides.

Have had cyclists not even slow down and get pissed when I crawl forward. Had an ebike blow through going super fast when I was turning left and the bike path was on my left. Almost took them out; if the guy's gf or wife on the back didn't screech I probably would have.

I could have been more observant, admittedly, but I wasn't expecting someone to blow past me going way over the speed limit.

Just looking for confirmation that they are supposed to stop or at least slow down. I'll be more careful and will not be an ahole about it.

Edit: with the ebike I had a stop. On the bike paths to my left there was a smaller stop sign on the path

St. Pete Beach Residents: Assert Your Customary Use Rights

For generations, St. Pete Beach has been openly used by residents and visitors. That long-standing public use is known as customary use.

Ordinance 2025-02 introduces distinctions between public and private beach lands and creates a framework that many residents believe threatens the public’s historic use of the beach.

This is not about cabanas, weddings, vendors, or signage.

This is about whether the public will continue to exercise and defend its customary use rights.
Customary use exists because public use of St. Pete Beach has been ancient, reasonable, and uninterrupted. These rights are not preserved by silence. They are preserved when the public asserts them.

If you support a free, open, and public St. Pete Beach, visit Friends of Corey Avenue Facebook page.

Do not assume someone else will do it.

Find Friends of Corey Avenue on Facebook. Share it. Assert your right to use St. Pete Beach.

St. Pete Beach Customary Use: Petition and Community Experience Project Now Live

For those following the ongoing discussions about beach access in St. Pete Beach, a group of residents and supporters has launched a petition asking the City Commission to formally recognize and protect customary use rights on St. Pete Beach.

For anyone unfamiliar with the concept, customary use is the legal doctrine that recognizes certain longstanding public uses of dry-sand beach areas when those uses have existed openly and continuously for generations.

Regardless of where you come down on the issue, I think most people would agree that it's an important conversation for our community. Many residents, visitors, and property owners have strong feelings about preserving public access while also respecting legitimate private property interests.

In addition to the petition, we're collecting stories and experiences from people who have used St. Pete Beach over the years. Whether you've lived here for decades, own property here, or simply have family traditions tied to the beach, we'd like to hear from you.

Petition:
https://www.change.org/p/protect-and-recognize-customary-use-on-st-pete-beach

Community Experience Form:
 https://forms.gle/dkHpDbSdkTbcacoy6

I'm genuinely interested in hearing different perspectives on this issue, so please feel free to share your thoughts and experiences in the comments as well.

Senior APTs with no AC for 5 days

My mom lives in an independent senior apartment community in Clearwater. The building has been without A/C for 5 days. She has severe COPD, so I had to spend over $500 on a hotel because it wasn't safe for her to stay there.

The building has also had flooding and was under a 24-hour fire watch because the fire protection system was impaired. They're slowly handing out portable A/C units, but my mom still hasn't received one.

Is this something that should be reported to Clearwater Code Enforcement or the Fire Marshal? Has anyone had success getting reimbursed for hotel costs or receiving a rent credit in a situation like this?

I'm just looking for advice from anyone who's been through something similar.
