How to bomb an Interview 101

I had my plaksha technical interview today and God did it go unplanned. Here's my experience:

It was 11:32 am and I said good afternoon because my personal interview was conducted 2 days before at 12 😭😭💔✌🏻.

She started off with physics asking basic questions about torque. I gave her the F×Rsin theta explanation but idk the interviewer didn't feel satisfied.

I was later asked questions about Doppler effect and Zero'th law of thermodynamics. I didn't know the Zeroth law of thermodynamics 🫩✌🏻. I'm bad at chemistry and I dislike the second half of class 11 physics. I'm from ISC so I didn't know what the Doppler effect was.

I was asked a few more questions and we switched to maths after physics obliteration.

Maths was pretty easy, initially I fumbled at periodicity but I came back with the answer before she corrected me. Everything went well until she asked me (1-cosx)/x^2 limx to 0. IK this sounds like a rant BUT I WAS NOT TAUGHT L'HOSPITAL RULE so i naturally took a long pause and surrendered.

I was asked questions about hyperbola but it was not in my syllabus (I chose statistics).

I was expecting at least a few questions from DSEB but none 😃. My personal interview went absolutely well but the exact opposite happened to me today 💔✌🏻.

Am I overthinking my future or do I have a chance at plaksha?

Stats: 790 SAT Math. 5/5 AP Physics, 4/5 AP Calc. Both math and physics boards are 90+.

I've got decent EC's including national wins, regional sports and research papers.

Help 💔🥀

Is it me only or the whole thing with CTLC grading is super off?

Not again… Each sem they are doing the same thing with grading. It’s questionable now what is prof even teaching and grading.

Some questions as I was researching to join Plaksha...

So hey there!...I was looking to joing for a college that Make the students do something in practically and help them till the end to achieve...so my questions are:-

  1. How is the routine there ? Is there only time to just study related to the course or placement subjects ? Are startups, innovation, research related guidance and interesting communities there?

  2. If someone wants to prepare for govt exams, GATE side by sidw as a backup pr anything will he/she get some time for that.

3.Can i improve myself by following only the teachers and the course or should the individual also take an online course or anything like that

4.Hostel, mess, sports facilities, environment, and society which has thrive for knowledge and learning?

5.does it feel like a rat race to you ?

  1. Total fees including hostels and other miscellaneous (the clg doesn't tell about that) ?

  2. What's the reputation of the college ? What it has achieved honestly ? And what are the results for it ?

8.And how are the teachers..Do they pay attention to each and every student ? Friendly?

9.If I want to gain the depth knowledge of the CSE domain, will it be accomplished there ?

10.Scholarships and ROI ?

Currently sitting at a 7.9 CGPA and kind of worried because a lot of companies seem to put 8+ as a cutoff for internships.

Is 7.9 CGPA enough to get a decent summer internship?

For people who’ve been through internship season already:

  • Did companies strictly enforce the 8 CG cutoff?
  • Were there still decent companies/startups open to people just below it?
  • Does projects/skills matter enough to compensate?
  • How hard does it get for summer internships specifically?

Would appreciate honest experiences instead of generic “skills matter more” answers. Trying to figure out whether I should focus offcampus referrals, or just apply everywhere and hope for the best.

Size of robotics (RAS) at plaksha?

I wanna pursue robotics ahead, i have won few international and national awrds in robotics, the labs, profs seems best for robotics as per labs across all labs i have seen till now, but the class of 2025 batch has only 7 students in robotics out of 81, less then 10%, so are they even getting jobs or directly going for mastors, and whats the current size of the ras batch in 2026,2027,2028,2029 ? And is 2026 placement data is out?
