Save Settings Locally

I subscribed to a lot of podcasts on Android app. But every time I reset my phone or get a new phone, I have to go in and change the auto archive setting for each one. I consume a lot of news in. Most of them are set to Episode Limit of One. I don't want to Delete after 24 hours if for some reason I can't get to it, and some are hourly.

Is there a way to save the settings off to a json file so that I can maintain them locally and use them after I reset a phone.

Restoring from a backup does not restore the settings.

random podcasts getting downloaded

I haven't looked at the discover page on the app pretty much ever. But for the past week I've had random podcasts get downloaded and added to my up next queue without my intervention and I'm not following them either. Anyone else experiencing this? I changed my password and it didn't seem to make a difference.

Got an ad in the middle of a podcast

Just got an ad in the middle of a podcast, checked other podcast apps and the episode was 19 seconds shorter compared to pocket casts, anyone else experiencing this?

Is there a setting to disable the "Stream Anyway" popup?

Hi all! I have unlimited data and listen to podcasts while out and about. I typically choose the next episode that I want to listen to from my feed (not from the "Up Next" queue). Which means that this "Stream Anyway" pop up comes up multiple times a day and I have to disable the popup before the episode I've selected can actually start. Pretty annoying!

Instead of having to press this button 5+ times a day, is there a setting that I may have missed to prevent this from activating in the first place?

Thank you!

Display first two lines of episode titles in Up Next?

Can we have the episode titles in "Up Next" display two lines of text, like in Playlists, instead of just one line?

Many episodes titles are long enough that the first line alone isn't helpful. When I'm scrolling through Up Next and rearranging episodes to decide what to listen to next, I frequently have to tap to open the Details screen just to read enough of the title to see what the episode is about. It may seem like a small annoyance, but it adds up when you listen to a lot of shows.

Playlists do this well already, and the second line doesn't take up that much more space on screen.

See example screenshot from Up Next, and the same episodes in a Playlist called "Example."

  • "She set out to find the best free..." the best free what?
  • "The rise and fall of the..." what?
  • "There's no such thing as a..." what?
  • "Why everything you thought about..." what?

After a while, it starts to feel like I'm dodging a list of clickbait headlines or suggested YouTube videos.

Is there a way to search all of my subbed podcasts, but only them?

The title, basically.

I'm subscribed to a number of podcasts, several of which cover similar ground. Sometimes I want to know if and when those podcasts covered a particular topic so I can listen to them all in succession and hear the differing opinions.

So, is there a way to search keywords across all of the ones I'm subbed to but only those ones? (I know that I can search keywords in each podcast individually under that one, and I know the general search will search everything in the database whether I'm subbed or not.)

P.S. I'm on Android, if that helps at all.

Folders and Filters, how do you like to use them?

Afternoon people, I am trying to figure out the best use of folders and filters, currently I use folders to organise by genre, and I have some filters set up for the same sort of thing, one for gaming and tech, one for crime, etc.

I am curious to see what other users do that is either more useful or more creative or both.

I would love to see visual examples if you wouldn't mind sharing, or just discuss below.

Thanks folks, and happy listening.

[iOS] Beta Feature: Highlighted Transcripts

Hi everyone!

We're excited to start testing a new feature: highlighted transcripts! This is currently available on iOS only through TestFlight. If you haven't joined the beta yet, you can do so here.

Once you're in, you can try it out with a small selection of podcasts:

Keep in mind that only the latest ~10 episodes of each podcast currently have support. If a new episode just dropped, it might take a little while before we finish processing it!

We'd love to hear what you think! Give it a try and let us know how it works for you; whether something feels off, something's missing, or it's working just as you'd expect. All feedback is welcome. Thanks!

P.S. We're starting with iOS for now, but we plan to bring this to Android as well.

Can I add an episode to play afterwards with 1 click?

Hey there,
currently when I add a new episode to the "Up Next" list I have to tap twice ("add" and then one of the options in the popup menu). Can I somehow do it with only one tap? Usually my "Up Next" is empty, there is absolutely no reason for this popup.
It's bugging me more than it should but I seriously hate this little annoyance.
Thanks in advance!

PocketCast Free vs Apple Podcasts

Anybody the free version of PocketCast?
What’s been your experience vs Apple Podcasts?

My podcast listening habit has decreased significantly in a way that I am considering canceling my yearly Plus subscription but I wondering if the free version of PC is worth using over AP!

Obviously, those two are not comparable feature wise but I’m curious to know if you’re a casual listener/user, what you think of both free PC and the native AP

Relisting to episodes in Listening History

I've used Pocket Casts for a long time. A few months ago, perhaps with an update, I started getting errors in a particular scenario. It's driving me nuts as I've always listened this way and can't work out why.

I listen to podcasts to fall asleep. The next night, I go back to the Listening History and find the episodes I missed when I fell asleep, that I want to relisten to.

I select multiple episodes from the list and choose "download", then reselect the same episodes again and choose "Add to up next".

This worked fine for years, but now many of the episodes won't play, I just get a generic error "This episode can't be played". I have to go into each individual episode, remove the download file and re-download it again for it to play.

I don't know what's changed or why this is happening. Any clues?

Feature questions - recently listened to and smart playlists with folders as potential source

Two things I'm still wishing I could figure out how to do:

* See the last N podcasts that I've listened to - sometimes I want to go back to an episode and relisten to something in it
* Create smart playlists, ie. new releases, based upon certain folders I've made, rather than having to select podcasts manually. I've already sorted my podcasts into folders by category. Would love to have a playlist for new releases from each of those folder categories that I could start queueing up into the play queue.

Is any of this possible? I couldn't figure anything out.

New phone, settings gone. How do I get this specific one back.

I just broke my phone over the weekend and had to buy a new one. While I'm thrilled that I could basically use my phone backup to restore everything else. It's been a headache to set things up again. In Pocketcasts, I prefer to have my podcasts downloaded to listen, and not always stream. And it used to be set up that when I looked at a list of episodes, the right side would either show a play button (if downloaded), or a download arrow. Right now I have to tap into the episode and then download from the episode page.

What was the setting! I feel so silly.

I'm trying to create a smart playlist that shows all episodes that are not downloaded and not starred. I've got the download piece figured out, but is there a way to remove starred episodes from a smart playlist? TIA.
