[Found] Serious Policy - Playgen - 2007 - UK educational game about government policy making

Playgen games released a series of "serious games" in the 2000s, teaching young people about politics, infrastructure and science. Their more well known game is floodsim.

It is a rather niche area in games.

This game explores how to make and fund government policy and features politicians of the era including Tony Blair, Gordon Brown and Alistair Darling.

Somehow I have an original copy my dad downloaded when I was very young when it was still a newish game. I do remember playing it. Somehow it made it across to my 2013 HDD and I found it going through that drive after fixing it recently corrupting its file system, prompting some digital archaeology. I'm lucky the drive didn't die.

The Electorate Releases This Fall!

Hey everyone!

About a year ago, I posted The Electorate to this sub and received a ton of great feedback and support. Since then, the game has come a long way, and I'm excited to announce that The Electorate is targeting a late October/early November 2026 release!

The Electorate is the ultimate election simulator that puts you in control of an American political campaign. Run for president through the primaries and general election, campaign for Senate or governor, or take control of an entire party and lead your congressional candidates to victory.

At launch, the game will include multiple election scenarios spanning 1960 through 2028. Every U.S. county is individually modeled using over 20 demographic dimensions and ideological profiles, creating an electorate that responds dynamically to candidates and campaigns.

The game is also built with customization in mind. You'll be able to create your own candidates, parties, and election scenarios, plus easily moddable game files for players who want to go even further.

You can wishlist The Electorate on Steam here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3859180/The_Electorate/

Hi everyone!

I've been working on my game Red Echoes: Berlin - a narrative turn-based strategy game set during the German Revolution of 1918-1919 -- for the past 5 months or so, and am really happy to share it with y'all!

Wanted to share it here because Autumn Chen's Social Democracy games definitely serve as a major inspiration, and are partially responsible for kindling my interest in the time period - I don't think Red Echoes would exist without it :)

Other inspirations are Suzerain (which I worked on in the past), and Through The Darkest Of Times. It's my first solo-developed game that will be on Steam, so wishlists help out a lot!

You can wishlist it here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4566010/Red_Echoes_Berlin/

Happy to hear your thoughts and answer any questions :)
