Looking for honest feedback on these portraits - composition, lighting, editing, portfolio worthy?
Hi everyone!
I'm a beginner portrait photographer and I'm starting to build my portfolio. These were taken during golden hour with a Canon EOS R8 and a 70-200mm f/4.
I'd really appreciate your feedback!
I'm especially interested in feedback on:
Composition
Lighting
Posing
Editing/color grading
Whether these are portfolio-worthy
I want to improve, so feel free to point out anything that stands out, whether it's technical or creative.
Thanks in advance!
These girls pestered me until I took their photo, they were ready with this pose.
Picking back up after 8 years
Like the title says I’ve pretty much done little to no portrait photography in almost 8 years. Now I’m back to basics. I’ve always been a natural light shooter and have shot weddings and events before but again a loooooong time ago. Any tips or tricks, any suggestions or wise words will be appreciated.

Photographing a friend in cosplay.
This portrait came from one of those fun unexpected moments. A couple of friends asked if I’d be interested in photographing them in their cosplay, and we ended up making some images together. I can’t remember which video game inspired this character, but I really liked in this photo the sense of quiet introspection and strength they brought to it. I hope that comes through in the portrait. Hope you like it.

I wanted the colograde to be soft and muted, but maybe somebody will have better ideas/constructive criticism
What some people see vs what I see
Here are a couple shots from a visit to AO Glass in Burlington, Vermont. I included an iPhone photo of the back of my camera because I thought it was fun to show the composition in-camera and how close it was to the final image. The second photo is the finished shot.
