1000 sqft Shipping Container Home in Seattle - A Creative Two-Story Design (six 20 ft containers)

Located in Seattle, Washington, this inventive 1,000-square-foot container house turns six used 20-foot shipping containers into a compact yet highly personalized home. Four containers form the lower level while two are stacked above, creating a two-story layout that preserves much of the original containers' industrial character on the outside. Inside, a coastal and nautical design theme gives the compact rooms personality, while portable furniture and thoughtful planning help make the limited floor area feel more flexible. The home also includes a large outdoor patio that effectively extends its living space and was designed with the possibility of future expansion, illustrating how modular container construction can combine affordability, adaptability, and unconventional architectural character. https://www.prefabcontainerhomes.org/2021/07/1000-sqft-shipping-container-home.html

Villa 07 — Architecture Shaped by the Site

Villa 07 — Four-Bedroom Hillside Residence

Designed as a four-bedroom contemporary villa on a challenging narrow plot with a generous frontage of over 25 meters and a steep natural slope.

The architecture uses the difficult topography as an advantage, positioning the living spaces and bedrooms to capture the spectacular views while maintaining privacy. Deep roof overhangs, warm timber façades, expansive glazing, landscaped terraces and the pool create a continuous relationship between the house and its surroundings.

A site-specific residence where the slope doesn't limit the architecture — it defines it.

Manufactured home / modular home recommendations

My husband and I just bought land and want to do a modular home or manufactured home (yes we made sure it was zoned for either of these homes and went through proper testing prior to closing)! Can you share the good, the bad, literally all the details of your experience with modular or manufactured homes? What companies you went with and what your process was like? Literally anything is helpful!! Thank you in advance!

I need a reality check on Quonset Huts

I am seriously considering building two of these on my free and clear owned property for my adult daughter and I to live in.

I need pros and cons.

What issues can arise.

How structurally sound are they.

Are they energy efficient?

I'd like realistic pricing if you've built one.

What you would do different or same if you were to do it again.

I know some people think they're ugly. I am not worried about esthetics i want to know the dirty truth
