I’m thinking of modding my PS3. Thing is I like to platinum the games I play, but I guess i’m just a bit worried that my account would get banned and I lose all my trophies. I’m not the most tech savvy person so idk if I sound stupid asking this.

I bought a PS3 (CECHL04, system software version 4.93) again after 10 years. At €30 and described as "fully functional," I thought it was too good to be true... Here’s the problem: the PlayStation boots up fine, and I can download and install things without issues. But as soon as I start a game, I get a black screen with no sound. I tried testing the included discs, but it turns out the Blu-ray drive isn't working. Just for kicks, I tested Spotify, too—same thing: black screen and no sound. A quick Google search suggests three possible issues:

1. The graphics chip is shot; it gets overloaded during more demanding tasks (like Spotify) and crashes.

2. The TV/monitor doesn't support the format.

3. The Blu-ray drive is dead, but the PS3 needs it to verify "something."

I can rule out point 2 because I connected it to my old TV—the same one my original PS3 worked on.

I don't think it's point 1 either, and I have no desire to take the whole thing apart to solder the chip or anything like that.

As for point 3—why the hell is a fucking disc drive required to play content bought online, or even Spotify?!

I’m going to hack my PS3 (4.93) using HEN, but I have a PSN account. I was wondering if that’s a problem, as I’ve been told not to use PSN. Please tell me what to do and how to remove it if necessary.

I’ve been looking through Reddit and TikTok hoping to figure out some way to play web of shadows and the other spiderman games for free whether it be with a ps3 emulator or website or download or smth. I’m really new to this stuff so I don’t understand much but if anyone can give me like a tutorial or help me in anyway id appreciate it

So i recently bought a physical copy of uncharted 3 and the last of us and when i put them in the console and go into the game, in uncharted 3 it just doesn't go past the ring loading screen, and when i go into the last of us it does go into the main menu but when i try to go into a game it just stays in the loading screen, does anyone know a possible solution to this problem? i already tried rebuilding data base, restore file system and deleting the updates of the games, i would apreciate any help, thanks.

I accidentally overwrote my sh2 save on my cfw ps3. I can’t seem to find an option to see if the data is still on there using Apollo save tool, but I was also thinking maybe I could find a backup from before I deleted it from the last time I used winscp to download a game? Any advice on what I could do would be much appreciated

Just curious — does anyone know the last confirmed case of someone getting banned for using their main/primary PSN account on a jailbroken PS3, playing backup games, earning trophies, and then syncing them?

I’ve seen older posts about bans from years ago, but I’m trying to figure out if it’s still happening in 2025/2026 or if Sony has basically stopped caring about PS3 at this point.

Any recent experiences (or lack of them) would be appreciated. Thanks!

All the tutorials are only for the digital version and none of them work on the bluray version this is so annoying 😭😭😭

I’m running Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor on my PS3 and the game is lagging really badly. Framerate drops hard in open areas, combat, and especially when there are multiple enemies or larger environments on screen. It feels almost unplayable at times, mismatch audio.

I’m launching it through webMAN.

A few details that might help:

• PS3 model: super slim
• webMAN
• Game format: ISO
• internal HDD
• Multiman

Has anyone else had this issue with Shadow of Mordor + webMAN?
Any known fixes, patches, specific webMAN settings, or better ways to run this game smoothly?

only asking as I followed a mrmario guide but I get an "no applicable update data found" error, the guide didn't mention a specific usb but I'm wondering if there's a specific size limit for the usb's that you need?
