I've accidentally created a weekly Thursday discussion series, so I think I'll keep it going.
Was there a specific artist, album, track, or first-listen moment that completely blew you away and changed what you thought psychedelic music was?
Was it a 60s classic, an obscure krautrock deep cut, an expansive shoegaze wall of sound, modern synth-psy, or something completely out of left field?
My experience was the first time I heard Ágætis byrjun and Von by Sigur Rós around 2003. Hearing Jónsi's bowed guitar and falsetto voice over those slow-building walls of sound literally blew me away. I then got my hands on (), which I think is one of their greatest album ever released. I quickly became obsessed and burnt multiple CDs passing them out to everyone I knew like a crazy musical evangelical.
I got to see them a few months later in Amsterdam, and it was the first concert I didn't watch. I sat in a side room with a friend and a couple we met, just listening and experiencing the sound and medicine we took.

Trying to branch out into some new sounds and genres. I've begun to explore some trippy older rock bands. Tera Melos, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, Jefferson Airplane, Three Trapped Tigers, Battles, The Physics House Band. I was wondering if I'm missing any genres or artists that someone who lives the melodic but complicated and micro tonal insanity of tipper would also appreciate. Culprate is of course great, but I'm guessing there's entire worlds of music that I'm missing out on and I'm hoping that an experienced musical connoisseur can point me in the right direction. My copy of Vinyl William's newest album Star Harmony finally arrived at my doorstep.
This has to be one of the prettiest releases I've seen... both sides a different color. It was supposed to he holographic aswell, but mine isnt. Oh, well. Still the prettiest pressing in my collection.
Also, this is thee best album by him yet. As someone who found Polyheaven/Portasymphony a bit repetitive, Star Haromony stays fresh sounding front to back. You get more of his signature sound with songs like Crystal Helix, and Abalone. But you also get super solid energetic pysch rock with Interlocking and Nile and even hints of synth pop with Lost Angel and Flying Blind.
Check this album out if you dig synth pop, lofi, indie rock, psychedelica, dream pop, and shoegaze. ^-^ SOLID 10/10 <3

I don't really talk to may people in the physical world, its hard to find people with things in common. I like it here. Its not full of garbage like facebook. I would love to know where you are all from? I live in Cornwall. A mile away from where Aphex Twin grew up. I never met him but I have older friends who went to school with Richard. Mine: Modern Psytrance has completely lost the spirit of classic Goa. So much of today's psytrance is just an aggressive, mechanical assault on the ears, no melody, no soul, none of the actual psychedelic journey left.

Good day to all, I am really enjoying this group its the only one I joined, thankyou for such a kind response on my last video. I was going to wait a few more days before I posted again, but I got quite a few things I made I would love share. I wont post more than 2 things a week promise. The last video is actually one of the first things I ever made. This ones a couple months later down the line. I was shaping my pallet for tones colours and textures. This music making and video malarkey is pretty new to me. I am always experimenting and trying to learn new things. Carving my own path but taking influence from my idols. I am privileged to be part of the group, and to share my journey and creativity. The mind is a wonderful terrible thing. Thankyou for your precious time.
